No it's because horror has to be Christian based (zombies, demons, ghosts, etc.) to recieve a fair rating by the MPAA. The more you delve into the cold uncaring Elder Gods and whatnot the harsher your shit will get rated.

Being trite Sup Forumsedditor trash has more to do with it

No, a lot of his stuff is either tough to film because it relies on the atmosphere his prose creates, or tough to carry off because trying to fit stuff that's supposed to be innately indescribable into a visual medium often ends up looking silly.

>Christian based

>zombies
wut >inb4 jeezus was zombi xD
>demons
exist in every religious circle
>ghosts
^

Bullshit.
90℅ of hijs works describe his shit as indescribable.
You ever tried filming something you can't describe?

Fuck off you subhuman darkened creature of blasphemous metissage. Your dirty beady-eyed hispanic face is not welcome on this proud ancestral Anglo-Saxon board. Filthy mud-blooded animals like you belong only in the primal jungle hunting other degenerate creatures of your kind and carving up their flesh with a rusty machete that your granddad Joaozinho Carlos de Ronaldopereira left to you. All in all you are nothing but a primitive atavism of evolution, a repulsive undeveloped primate polluting this planet which rightfully belongs to the Aryan Race. Drive your old machete through your own chest if you want to end your suffering, because you won't become any more human as days go by, you fucking cruel misrepresentation of humanity, goddamn godless indian subhuman mongoloid.

lovecraft is okay, but his fans are fucking awful.

lovecraftian is one of the most annoying buzzwords out there.

he's not as unique as you make him out to be.

It's not the sole reason perhaps but it is A reason. Also zombies are very Christian and I'm not talking about Jesus, you literal retard.

openbible.info/topics/zombies

>I fucking hate these god damned sea niggers, and their ruler Boyegathulu too, damn it.
What did he mean by this?

>What is, The Jungle Book?
The only other thing Kipling is known for is for White Man's Burden.

Why would any Hollywood Jew waste the amount of time you'd need to craft a good Lovecraftian horror when they can just have jump scares softcore porn and call it horror? That or steal the chink shit.

You write like shit, just like that homo.

>what is Kim

And "If..." was literally voted the greatest British poem ever a few years ago you fucking hyperpleb.

It might be the reason we'll never get a biopic, but I reckon their would be some shekel wranglers out there who would love to make a couple of hundred million off the back of a filthy goy racist and laugh while doing so.

Its fun to go on /lit/ and post about how racist he was in their almost daily "should I read Lovecraft?/about to read Lovecraft what am in for?/is Lovecraft good?" threads.

*if it was possible

It's because Lovecraft's stories don't really translate well to a visual medium. The best that can be achieved are films with Lovecraftian elements, like Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness.

Wait, how would this be an explanation? There's new capeshit every month and now vidyashit is getting made more and more.

>zombies
>christian
You fucking witless buffoon.

Take it to /lit/ you fuckin nerd.

Protip: anyone that has ever used the word "lovecraftian" has never read a single fucking thing he's written.

I'm not saying he's innaccessible because he's not, but I wouldn't be surprised if lovecraft had the highest ratio of people that think they know his works vs people who've actually read them.

No. There's no shortage of racism in Hollywood. Main reason is they're pretty boring and unfilmable.

...

>There's no shortage of racism in Hollywood.
True, but lovecraft was the 'evil' type of racism. Rather than the fun, #killallwhitepeople type of racism

>too poor and unknown to secure rights to your own works
>autists and indie cunts bastardize it for an eternity

that's the real unimaginable horror

See
Then kill yourself

>kipling is only known for the only two things of his i know
>i am a pleb and resent people rubbing my face in my own plebby vomit

It's the only way you'll learn.

>Lazarus
>Jesus

His only good quality was his idea of horror, no one had such a good conception of how to produce that feeling of cosmic dread. However his prose, characterisation and plot arcs generally were asinine at best and painfully obscurant and loquacious at worst.

what do you mean with this?

>tfw read omnibus 1, 2 and 3 years ago
>one of the stories really stuck with me
>can't remember which one it was, or even which book
I think it was about some guy trying to break into a cave, a tomb or something around those lines, and when he eventually did get inside, the usual madness shit happened. Any idea?

Its probably not even that good, but for some reason it had more of an effect on me than most of the other stories, even the ones I can recall better.

>Protip: anyone that has ever used the word "lovecraftian" has never read a single fucking thing he's written.

I'm living proof you're wrong, fite me irl. I'm a black belt in Yog-Sothothery and 'Lovecraftian' is a perfectly apt adjective a la 'Kafkaesque'.

>At the mountains of madness adaptation and gets glowing reviews and explodes at the box office
>Inner city hipsters adore it
>Suddenly they do a complete 180 when they find out about Lovecraft's views

It would be glorious to see

Zombies are haitian you fucking cretin. They're not christian just because the west uses them in films. Or perhaps you'd care to explain to me why there are no zombies in western folklore perhaps?

Was it a pyramid? Or at least, set in Egypt?

He is medium unfriendly and the vagueness he advantages off will get stripped away

> Tell don't show bullshit

Chambers was pretty good at that too I thought

It's a perfectly apt adjective, it's just mostly used by brainless retards that think fucking tentacles=SO LOVECRAFTIAN OMG XDDDD

You should show us why you don't like him rather than telling us.

Oh wait, that's retarded.

I find Chambers a pain. Dunsany and Bierce are the only out and out horror writers whose stuff I enjoy throughout. For me, Frankenstein's Monster is the best piece of horror fiction ever created.

No, I'm pretty sure it took place in some park or a forest.

>this guy complained that he can't get a fair shake because jews control publishing and the media

>we, the jews who control publishing in the media are offended by these claims and will now suppress his works

pottery

Unique...

No one has had such a influence on horror as this man. And despite multiple indirect adaptations of his stye, none have genuinely captured the style of the original.

He is, was and fucking always will be sublimey unique. Lovecraftian is a powerful word since any imbecile can recognize it the instant they see it.

Fuck you you mediocre Hunger Games reading filth.

>caring about that

You need to lie down.

As i recall yellow king is not lovecraft.
OP you're probably right because lots of video games adabted his style and went well

The Statement of Randolph Carter? Or at least was one of the characters called that, because he's in a couple.

Why are you so triggered over an innocuous exaggeration? Do you honestly think I've even read The Jungle Book? Shut the fuck up and just be happy that the majority of people are like me so that you can hang onto that superiority complex you're just itching to show off.

>Opinions? No I don't have those, I'm a nihilist bro, everyone thinks I'm super cool because I pretend to not care about things.

Why do you go around airily making inaccurate claims about shit? And why do you chimp out so hard when people correct you?

>Frankenstein's Monster
It's just frankenstein, "frankenstein's monster" implies that the book is about the monster, the book is about Frankenstein.

>getting that angry over stupid people misusing a word

Angsty teen too smart for the other kids detected

>so close
Fuckin jew magic at work here.

...

I thought you didn't care? Why are you getting worked up?

>umadbro

Lel

I was talking about the title of the book, he called it frankenstein's monster, it's not called that.

Pay attention to these two films:

Dagon
Shatterbrain

They are both Lovecraft adaptations that have some amazing elements (Uxia from Dagon, shatterbrain atmosphere and the monsters), but are ruined by being cheesy as fuck.

You're the one who said you didn't care mate. I honestly don't know why you keep replying if you care so little

Because Elder Gods are a huge financial risk and Hollywood hates taking risks.

It's not complicated.

i kind of agree with you. the word lovecraftian basically just means anything that look spooky now. there are no themes of madness or mystery in anything

I care as much as you do

I don't know how it got this way to be honest with you.
Everyone who hasn't read lovecraft thinks he's that cthulu guy and tentacle monster=lovecraft
Call of Cthulu isn't even his best work, it's middle of the road as lovecraft goes, why is that the most famous?

,
You're the one getting autistic. It's not like I'm writing his biography.

zombies came from voodoo, you ignorant twat.

I loved that he named his cat Nigger Man.

It's just so perfect.

>tfw noone nowdays understands how english worked 100 years ago and it's actually 'lovecroftian'

The Shunned House

No, you're just passing on moronic Sup Forums-tier conspiratarding while not knowing what the fuck you're talking about.

I think I found out what it was. Possibly "The Tomb" from Omnibus 2.

I haven't even heard of Shatterbrain, damn. I'll have to check it out.

I thought "Dreams in the Witch House" from Masters of Horror was pretty neat, when I watched it years ago.

The Shunned House is good but it was a cellar, not a cave/tomb.

>I haven't even heard of Shatterbrain, damn. I'll have to check it out.

It has an alternate title iirc, but you can find it by googling Shatterbrain. Based on Dexter Ward, I believe.

I actually found out about it because some good soul kept spamming a webm of a really horrific piece of practical gore effects from it on Sup Forums.

>asinine
>obscurant
>loquacious

>tfw the word wasn't coined until well after he died, which was in 1934
>tfw you can eat a bag of dicks and learn how to spell 'no-one' and 'nowadays' before you get sniffy about shit like this

Where do you think we are? I'd bet dollars to donuts that any Jungle Book thread you looked up in the archive would have White Man's Burden mentioned before any other Kipling work if there is any.

In you offered Kipling as a parallel, implicitly claiming that Kipling's other works aren't as well known because of Kipling's attitudes towards race, and so also that this is why Lovecraft's works have rarely been adapted.

All I've done is point out that that's wrong. Whinging about what I might expect the average Sup Forums thread to contain has nothing to do with anything except your inability to handle being wrong on the internet.

but he's from the totallyradical future so it's okay

I offered Kipling as a rebuttal, genius. Hence the meme arrow. Kipling is also a controversial figure for his rousing endorsements of imperialism and yet one of the most critically acclaimed films of this year is The Jungle Book.

...

Well fuck. Is my face red.

No, because trying to adap it to film (or any visual medium Tbh) is stupid.
The whole point of cosmic horror is that it's monsters are something so horrible that you can't even make sense of it, it defies logic. You can't represent that visually.
The 'lovecraftian means le epic slimy tentacle monsters xD' meme needs to die

It happens to the best of us.

this

plz hollywood make At The Mountains of Madness first, then the unofficial sequel,A Colder War,where Soviet Union starts making shoggoths their drones, first british atomic bomb awakens the Polyps in Pnakotus,Big C gets awakened by nuclear tests in french polynesia, meanwhile american and british oil survey teams find a portal to Yuggoth and the Mi-Go rek arabia

>It's a WASP who has a boner for antiquities and genealogy stumbles upon a plot hatched by a cosmic horror who is in cahoots with no class uneducated serfs episode.

>Lovecraft's racism
>Wanting to preserve his culture

What an ebil man.

Would it trigger you if I told you he married a Jew?

Cinematic adaptation or GoT treatment?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the reason there aren't any adaptions is because obtaining the rights to make the movie is hard. I have nothing to back this up, just a guess.

Also actually adapting some of his stories will be hard, although The Thing was pretty good even though it was very very loosely based.

hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/src.aspx

?

>Inner city
hey it's my boy Hemingway

Some have interpreted his racial attitude as being more cultural than brutally biological: Lovecraft showed sympathy to others who pacifically assimilated into Western culture, to the extent of even marrying a Jewish woman whom he viewed as "well assimilated."

What was the name of the cat? Nigger man or something?

>Lovecraftian is a powerful word

Lovecraft film universe. Hell make it a trilogy, I don't care. Just give the people an honest taste.

Also Colour Out of Space is his best work.

What do I need to do to get such body ?

>big words upset me

And you call yourself a Lovecraft fan.

kek

His work is in the public domain since he wrote almost a century ago. The Thing isn't based on his work. It's a remake of a movie based on some other writer's short story.

Yeah I really liked that story. I think a way they could adapt it is by shining different color light on the actors shocked faces but never showing the source
