Bandleader replaces all members of band

>Bandleader replaces all members of band
>Still uses same band name

>band breaks up and gets back together
>bandleader keeps all members of band
>Uses a different name for literally no reason

There are way more bands that have just replaced the lead singer, but still

Emmure
Smashing Pumpkins
Everclear
KISS
Guns N' Roses (for a while)

>band kicks out original lead singer/songwriter
>eventually replacement guitarist kicks out second lead singer/songwriter/bassist

just because it has the same members doesnt mean its the same band

none of the original members of napalm death are in the current lineup.

Sisters of Mercy

>Napalm Death (as pointed out)
>Judas Priest
>Tangerine Dream
>In Flames
>GWAR
That's all I can think of off the top of my head

> Dude is making music under his nickname
> Have some friends to join him
> They keep the dude's name
> After a while, dude is tired of this shit and leaves the band
> Friends keep the dude's name

>band member dies
>band member gets replaced
>keeps happening until every original member has died
>whole new lineup of people, same band name

You mad, you lazy eyed dork?

>bandleader uses the band name for his solo work

I've been wondering if there was a band that did that, I'm really not surprised that it was ND

but Trent Reznor is and always has been THE BAND, what are you getting at?

Has this happened?

what do you have against the fall

Looking at you, James Mercer.

An extreme example of this is Ghost, but ayy.

To be fair though, of Montreal always was Kevin, since it was just him sending in tapes pretending to be a full band.

Doesn't really excuse firing all his friends over minor issues or not being hip to whatever vibe he's going for, though.

Davey Pierce is back though, which is neat. It'd be cool of him to get Dottie and/or Brian back though

If you consider an Orchestra a band, then yes it's happened.

guided by voices

>drummer becomes the lead singer

With Daevid Allen being dead for almost two years now, none of the founding members of Gong are still in the band. More than that, the only founding member who's still alive (as Gilli Smyth died in August) is Ziska Baum, and (s)he didn't even appear on any albums.

vektor, for the second time now even

Sublime with Rome is an extreme example of this.

>lead singer dies
>bring in shit vocalist
>drummer thinks its shit
>drummer leaves
>bassist only member left
>still called Sublime

Lynard Skynard

Yeah, it kind of does

Sometimes the leader is the band desu

Yes.

By that i mean, "Yes", the band

>tame impala

to be fair he pretty much was the band

i mean he still is. he still creates all the music first on his own and then formats it for the rest of the band.

that's probably why currents was 90% garbage

He's done it that way since the beginning though.

then how come innerspeaker was 90% excellence

Lol, how has no one mentioned The Shins?

because taste is subjective and people change

currents sound and lyricism makes it so fucking obvious he caught feelings for some stupid chick, or several, during his time between albums

>currents sound and lyricism makes it so fucking obvious he caught feelings for some stupid chick

i don't know if you've ever seriously listened to innerspeaker's lyrics but they're mostly "i'm in love with this girl why doesn't she like me back"

well i guess he did the same fucking thing in currents because that's nearly the exact same shit

>In Flames
They have no original members left

Genesis

What about bands where one member does basically everything and the rest are just for the ride

>band kicks member out to replace him with little brother

death grips

zach here, thanks everyone else for being along for the ride man

Pink Floyd kinda

rip wayne static

feels good man

>band replaces lead singer
>band becomes shit

>band replaces lead singer
>band becomes good

>band replaces lead singer
>still shit
>inb4 ac/dc

...

King Crimson
Fuck off

What about the crazy black man the band is named after?

i'm ok with that

SUSUSUDIOOOOOO

Glenn Miller Orchestra and a few other jazz groups I'm sure. That's the only one I can think of because my trumpet teacher played with them

TTNG

Ghost have never actually replaced their lead singer. It's just a costume change. Same "actor," different character.

because you're the first in human history to do so.

Pretty sure the temptations tour still even though the original ones are all dead or retired.

Why are the shins so underrated Chutes Too Narrow and Oh, Inverted World are great albums and Wincing the Night Away is really solid too

kraftwerk

this man is a legend

blink-182 recently with Skiba

Tom hasn't been good live in a decade.

Jeff Lynn was 90% of ELO

If it's just Mark E. Smith and your granny on bongos, then it's still The Fall.

When was Waters ever original lead singer?

Faith No More

>No The Fall

king crimson

Soft Machine

maudlin of the Well changed their name to Kayo Dot so they could excape the metal label, but now they're considered two different bands, even by the members.

Weren't there two versions of Guns n Roses at the same time?

Nope, never. There were two Queensryches

King Crimson

...

In Flames
Sepultura

>Smashing Pumpkins
Why wasn't Zwan the Smashing Pumpkins, considering they had both Corgan and Chamberlain?

New album when?
New Karl Bartos album when?

That's what I meant actually, I just forgot the topic of the thread for a second because I'm stupid
