>le random viking fantasy movie based on vidya
Famalanma, not even regular viking movies/series are good and you want to mix that shit up with awful vidya crap? Baka.

KOTOR

...

could you even imagine how badly they would fuck this up ?

Could even have a little spinoff with the Undead Nightmare.

>Let's turn a game replete with choices into the most generic playthrough of the main quest.

You'd all hate these movies if they were made.

who would play marsden

who would play bonnie

harvest moon: btn
but it'd be like a weird horror/mystery thing like some guy is just commuting to the mountains to chop trees n shit and he starts seeing weird shit up there and the townsfolk are all crazy and do the same thing every day
I dunno it'd probably be stupid but I still think about it a lot

...

>not Morrowind

lol no

There's no way Disney is competent enough to do Kotor justice, either 1 or 2.

Uncharted is literally already a movie with bits of gameplay strung together in between

Honestly now that he is older; Nathan Fillion

You think they could do it?

Who's up to the task?

Dwayne Johnson as Winston

Maybe young Herzog but that's gone.

nice meme

Why would you want to see a video game adaption? There's never been a good one in the history of cinema, probably because video games are an inferior storytelling medium

WARHAMMER 40K

even though its tenuously connected to video games

Clint Eastwood from his Madison County Bridges-Unforgiven years would be perfect for RDR

but he is far more interested in chasing his themes now than making easy films like them

Make it symbolic scenery porn and not a goofy action movie about monsters and shit and it would be fine, just a walking movie exploring themes of decay wth a few fight scenes here and there. Also dont give the character much dialogue, if any. Thing is, if you did this the majority of the brain dead twits that play this will say its boring with not enough action.

You could literally record the game, cut out the gameplay footage, screen it as a normal CG movie, and nobody would bat an eye. Prove me wrong.

Am I the only one who would like to see a movie based on Claude Speed and gta III

>inferior

No, just different. This is like saying film is an inferior medium because there are so many poor adaptations of good books.

If someone actually took the time to try, and wasn't just going for an easy moneymaker, they could make a good adaptation.

I have high hopes for The Witcher next year.

>Taking the bait
Muppet.

40K would suffer like Warcraft has, a film not exciting enough for fans but too much of a clusterfuck of lore for casuals.

>wanting a western movie about a game made up of western movie clichés
Do you want to see a GTA V bank heist movie as well?

I somewhat agree, storytelling isnt the point of videogames, its being in the story that is what makes games interesting, these stories that games tend to have are utter shite when presented without the gameplay, with a few exceptions. They always adapt the schlock games that dont actually have a definite or interesting story where the actual gameplay is the appeal and not the story, which is odd.

Art influences art influences art. To say it shouldn't is silly. You are saying to not be inspired (adaptation is one such) because it has already been done did better (to your taste).

Stop being so closeminded!

I would definitely dig film of CJ and Claude

...

They could do 1. It's a simple and light-hearted adventure story, although I don't know how they would play around a big plot twist about Revan, or would they even do it, considering everyone fucking knows the story.
2nd, certainly no. Story would get watered down or thrown out of the window completely.

1 was literally what the prequels should have been more or less
2 didnt even do itself justice

'story' 'writing' 'plot' is secondary to directing and quality of writing in general, how it is done - not what is done

that because they are cashing in on the ip
but basically good games dont need a good narrative, thats why crossovers suck

The problem with videogame adaptations is they try to have a twisty plot and introduce fucktons of characters with lots of scenes of talking and "acting". Make a simple plot and Mad Max it, make it all action with nice set pieces around a basic plot. 40K could just be that some Space Marines are sent to help a front like of Imperial Guards hold off against encroaching Orcs till backup arrives. You dont need to go off and explain the entire universe and the characters, focus the plot and focus on whats good.

Starcraft if done right could be epic.

>Final Fantasy Tactics as an HBO series
>Shadow of the Colossus

>inb4 BioShock
Unless its about early Ryan and building rapture or the civil war, it would be retarded. Jack's story would be so gay to see on screen especially if you played the game; any movie based on a game with the same plot would be.

>not wanting a Bioshock cinematic prequel that leads up to the start of the first game with Pierce Brosnan as Andrew Ryan, Bruce Willis as Frank Fontaine, Steve Buscemi as Sander Cohen, Cate Blanchet as Brigid Tenenbaum, Glenn Close as Dr. Langford, and John C McGinley as Dr. Steinman

Then it's another argument for 2nd game to not get an adaptation - the best thing about it is a depressing atmosphere of a galaxy ravaged by war, where Republic barely holds together. I wouldn't expect Disney to greenlight a dark and gloomy SW film.

XCOM
Tropico/Civilization
Command and Conquer
Half-Life
Twisted Metal
Crimson Skies
Condemed Criminal Origins
Halo
Beyond good and evil
Legacy of Kain
conkers bad fur day
destroy all humans

might as well do a fallout movie b/c that franchise is fucked

manhunt
oddworld
ninja gaiden

monkey island
shenmue

>Tropico
you are out of your fucking mind lol

Literally half of those aren't games with a plotline or following a plotline, or anything that can be adapted in a movie.

You're not very clever.

best game soundtrack ever
youtube.com/watch?v=OZOuy4YM0AI

this, there is no scenario imaginable where the adaptation would do justice to the source material, sadly

oddworld for sure

ROTS and TESB were pretty dark, and Rogue One looks to be pretty gritty.

>would be a standard "aliens attack" movie
>literally why do you think this is even possible
>would be a standard fictional war movie
>pointless
>could be really cool actually provided it wasn't straight-to-DVD trash
>could be cool
>never played
>would be cringey as a movie probably
>pointless and impossible
>never played
>Theoretically could work and be fun but would be mostly pointless and probably would be executed very poorly
>the premise of a movie from the alien's perspective could work but the game is too stylized for a true adaptation to work
>Fallout movie would be fun

I don't have enough experience with the rest to comment except that Oddworld could be great, like really great with a good team behind it.

I feel like dark souls is one of the few games that only works as a game

lost future
xenoblade
rule of rose
LISA
night of the rabbit

Terrence Malick.

Pitch it as a tv series and greatness might happen.

As long as it ends when the game ends mind you. I couldn't see it survive years of milking.

Obviously, also would've loved any system shock or bioshock

This would be a fantastic movie.

Maybe even 5 fantastic movies.

I don't want an in depht study of Lordran's flora, thanks

This game had some seriously crazy plot. Definitely what I'd call kino if it ever happened as a movie.

Tropico seems like it would make for good satire, with the right ensemble. Could even work as a tv series.

OP confirmed for pleb

...

fun fact: faggots have a tendency of confabulation

like how they tend to think 3/19 equal 1/2

civ tropico and twisted metal are the only ones that didn't have a coherent narrative.

and might I also remind you that, at the time of the highest acclaimed video game adaptation's release (Mortal Kombat) that didn't have a coherent narrative either

so you can get fucked you idiot.

It would never get made; SJW's would have a fit.

>Strong MALE super soldier destroys a religious covenant of fanatics who are dead set on martyring themselves so they can meet Space Allah

It would be amazing, though

So basically the novel?

Your post is nonsense that said I hope the Forever War movie keeps all the casual sex and orgies along with the gruesome detailed deaths

>going to the cinema
>to watch a 90 minute cutscene
>not just playing videogames

When does the 20th Century end?

Morrowind.

Take Hercules with Kevin Sorbo and replace everything with Morrowind lore, setting, and atmosphere.

Fucking METAL GEAR

shit is pretty much a movie already

Mm
Ivdied on the lara croft graphics
Hes like babyliss hair

this. what makes most good video games good is the fact that, for the much-longer-than-2-hours they take to finish, the player is essentially writing the story themselves. sure, many games are still fairly linear in nature, but sandbox games are designed to not play the same way each time - unlike a movie, which is exactly the same every time you see it.

i think the only way a video game movie could possibly work would be to make a movie that ends just where the video game starts. that way, the characters and atmosphere would be related to the game, but the movie wouldn't be attempting to re-create the gameplay itself.

tell the story of releasing diablo and the journey to tristram - don't tell the story of the battle of the tristram dungeons, one that I can play myself.

Make a shoop plz

Independence day 2 is coming soon

Bryan cranston

I think you already know the answer to that, user.

Only KOTOR has choices that matter anyway

As the G-Man, sure.

Bioshock needs to be an interactive experience. Making it into a film would ruin what makes it great.

Writing a feature length script when the protag in the video is a silent one must be a mother fucking bitchhhhhhh

If you're going to do Fallout as a movie, do Fallout 3 since that game's already setup with a plot for normalfags.

If you're going to do Fallout as a TV series, adapt 1 & 2 into a 4-5 season story.

Dude the director of the Uncharted games is literally a script writer. She never coded anything

MGS 3: Snake Eater

I want it to be a total camp mess with the awesome theme song from the came, codec scenes that sound/look like the game, Dolph Lundgren as Colonel Volgin and Karl Urban or Christian Bale as Naked Snake

youtube.com/watch?v=_CbFAZ2ztlE

>few
This applies to at least 95% of games though. Most games would be terrible movies, contrary to what memers say. Even really cinematic games like the Metal Gear games would make horrible movies.

directed by Guillermo del taco

I'd see them but if you think it'd be anything more than Chris Pratt brainless Indiana Jones-lite meme popcorn entertainment than you're a mong

Kill yourself please~~~~

MGS would make easy games, what are you even on about. You could even fix the backracking mistakes Kojima made.

>easy games
films*.

lmao.

Check out Dagon (2001)

yes, i can

>Bioshock
>interactive

It was 'my first shooter'. The level of 'interactivity' in Bioshock is significantly less than in previous better examples of the genre and it is utterly dwarfed by even its own predecessor.

The reason you feel clever playing and masturbating your interactivity bullshit all over here is because you are a retard.

You seem upset friend. You must be one of those marvelkeks who can't handle vidyakino's inevitable rise to power :^)

Bioshock would probably make a pretty good film for the exact opposite reason stated. It has an interesting visual hook, a nice scenario and a built in excuse for some ridiculous CGI action if that was the route they wanted to take with it.

It was barely a game to begin with.

I do like my Marvel shit though, wish someone would make some games with those characters.

This right here has a remarkable potential for a pure kino, with deathly elegant scenery, cryptic clues, Dark/Light/Fire symbolism, heavily relying on music, costumes and artwork
Just as the game is considered hard, a film adaptation will be incredibly difficult to pull off, but immensely rewarding. Greater the challenge, greater the victory.

ITT: Retards

I love KOTOR but jesus christ is it overrated. Especially Revan.

you mean drive?

Not as a movie, but as a premium cable series. A sort of sci-fi Game of Thrones.
