The scientific advancement? Sure

The mass starvation and insane corruption? No

Too bad those things were inseparable

>giving haldol to dissidents
>scientific advancement

Do you think your current government is holding your country back?

only richfags don't

>Poland
That was very unexpected

who's this

Poland is now just a cheap labour source for Western Europe. The nationalists on here and IRL talk a good game but Poland is nothing special since 1989.

Communism offered full employment, cheap housing, good social mobility, free education, gender equality and so on. Naturally a lot of people miss that.

Says a lot that even in Czechia, a pretty well off country, communism is still missed by a lot of people. The communist party there is third in parliament.

Britain didn't even dream of a space program at the time

That being said the government was fucked up for what they did to people

Hmm, in some ways yeah. Militarily they are doing well, I speak about making the right allies and holding things together in Syria.

However they're not doing anything to bridge the class divide, there is almost no middle class. Nearly all of the country's wealth is controlled by the bourgeoisie of moscow. Those people do not care about improving schools or healthcare standards, or improving infrastructure outside of their wealthy suburbs. For this reason I think self-interested corrupt politicians leftover from the soviet era need to be weeded out. Unfortunately they've arranged the gameplan so well that it will likely not happen any time soon.

>Britain didn't even dream of a space program at the time
untrue, we did have one

Russia National Anthem prove Russian missed USSR.

bleh, they just didn't bother creating something new, this anthem was (re)written and recorded like overnight

hej

Old russians from the center of the country miss socialist days because they had work and food, everyone else hates it because they were starved to death.

They didn't fly so good

The Soviet space program was interesting. The amount of catch-up we had to play to be able to get similarly-sized objects into space was all due to a difference in doctrine related to the use of ICBMs and nuclear missiles.

We favored putting our resources towards getting accurate guidance systems first and foremost, where the Soviets put all their funding into getting as large a payload as possible into the air and letting the bigger explosion make up for any inaccuracy.

For us, the idea of actually getting into space didn't come around until later with the launch of SPUTNIK and all of its potential military applications.

I dunno how available this book would be for you to find, but you ought to read it at some point. The problem I mentioned of being unable to get enough lift with large payloads without breaking the bank on every launch had a bunch of different potential solutions in the works, and one of them was nuclear propulsion.

Who wants to try next?

Yes. In Soviet era I would be doctor but I am gold digger now. I was born in the wrong generation.

Only butthurt right wingers and Cucktholics

Yeah

Russia was actually more stable under the USSR. Now it's filled with crime and junkies.

The last famine in the USSR was in 1947.

Was there any starvation after the 30s?

From what I've read, there were periodic shortages of certain foods, ostentatious displays like all-you-can-eat buffets were nonexistent, and some exotic foods like bananas were very rare, but people generally weren't starving after the mid 1940s.

Yeah pretty much
