>This year, out of the 371 movies released, 4 superhero films—Captain America: Civil War, Deadpool, Batman vs. Superman, and X-Men: Apocalypse—accounted for 29 percent of the total box office.
Just let that sink in for a minute.

Normals REEEEEEE
>It's a fa/tv/irgin complains about the current Hollywood trend episode
You have a problem when 1% of the movies get almost 30% of the movie.
The four movies are adaptations from comic books and three are sequels.
bernie is that you
the problem is this trend is not fucking stopping, if anything it's accelerating
> wtf... I hate capeshit now!
>1% of the movie = 30% of the movie
What?
Power Rangers is toku not capeshit
huh? he's right
and the explanation is easy, like 50% of moviegoers are children and teenagers, so it's no wonder that capeshit does so well
this is like getting mad that kenny chesney and the insane clown posse are top earners in music every year, popularity does not equal quality by any means, and a lot of the time they are inversely proportional.
sorry, I automatically read that as "1% of the movies get 30% of the moviegoers" which I'm pretty sure is what he meant
Superhero movies are the most original/unique action movies right now, so why wouldn't they?
If that should really be an issue with parts of the target demographic, they'll simply give them capes.
I don't give a shit because a) I have no personal stake in it and b) I have no issues with films with broad appeal making big bucks.
Family movies and shit that meets the cross section of interests (comic movies work for nostalgic adults and kids) are going to make bank. Niche shit isn't. Don't fucking care.
...
If you're a normie with normie plebbish taste and you wanna spend some good times in a cinema, you'll more likely end up watching capeshit than the new Almodovar
Plus, you forget that theses films have a budget bugger than any small releases ans their marketing campaigns are huge so it makes sense that capeshit and other blockbusters would make more than say Green Room or The Nice Guys
>30% of the money*
those people that went and saw those movies wouldn't have spent that money watching those other flicks
I blame Jaws
Yeah man. Fuck sharks.
Japanese capeshit remade into American capeshit.
Most people actually do
It's what's popular now OP, if it wasn't this it'd be something else. Like westerns or sci-fi.
wuuuuahhh, why are these normies liking normie stuff and not appreciating real movies, so I can debate them like I do on a Mongolian coffee making board.
