How comes UK is so much better than other European countries

How comes UK is so much better than other European countries.
Even better than China with its over billion population?

Culture of Brexit

Despite all the pain and torment cultural Marixsts have implemented onto us, we still believe in this country.

Strong sporting tradition

but why are you so bad at football then?

it's not popular here

lol

Kek

More niggers.

>Our countries best performance for almost a century barely beats China with one gold in their worst Olympic in 20 years

Yeah ok, calm down. And they kinda wrecked us in London so the taste is bitter sweet.

we invest like £500million per year on it

>2 golds less than 2012
>China can still win by having their medals upgraded due to iranian and kazak dopers

fuck

Its our supernova before we fade away forever

hehe

at least you had your empire and shit

Fucking disgusting.

I dont get it. Is this a serious thread?

27 Golds is hardly impressive, actually worse than 2012. We are just lucky China choked like retards.

Did you fall for all the shitposting?

tip top kek

you had 10 gold more than us

>tfw in London today and all I see are rich Muslims walking around

They sold us out

The irony is that most of their families are probably from the former areas of the empire

Pull off the nukes before you go full halal

This

Gonna get pretty embarrassing in a few weeks when this happens. GB gonna become a laughing stock

Source? Where did you hear this ?

How come they sucked so much in 1996?

awful managers

Before lottery funding the total budget for UK sport was minuscule.

because they were in america

ISN'T IT FUNNY

because we spent no money on athletes wages and facilities and since then we have spent hundreds of millions to get a good olympic team

M8 just look at how well Anglo countries do in general in sports. 3 of the 5 Anglosphere countries are in the top 10 of medal winners in the Summer Olympics and in Winter, US and Canada are usually in the top 3-5.

Anglo countries just have Athletics cultures in them, that aren't even government driven (the way China is and Eastern Bloc/USSR used to be, where the government grooms athletes from a young age and may involve doping (as was the case in East Germany and USSR))

We particularly do well because we encourage women to do sports in school (In the US Title IX), so we really rake in the medals when it comes to women's events.

Bloody foreigners kept beating us at the game we invented, so we developed Football Manager and play this instead.

The only reason we still watch real life football is so we can get better at Autism Manager. We'll keep playing this until foreigners start beating us at it, after which we'll just make a new game.

Simple answer: 2012 summer olympics in london.
1st world nations invest in their sport system if they held olympic games. You could already see 1st results in beijing 2008.
Look were GB was 20 years ago. China did the same for their olympics and they already were 2nd in the medals table in 2004.
You could say the same thing about winter olympics 2010 and 2014.
Japan looks also pretty legit this year. In 2020 they will make at least the top 5.

Won't be reported in national media as it's mainly rumours and conjecture, but a load of Kazakh weightlifters have been getting popped recently and the a about another 10 or so that will be named soon. The guy that won Gold in the 77's will get caught since he's absolutely hammering the drugs and the iwf are trying to target Kazakhstan in particular. China will get bumped up to first.

The answer is funding.

beautiful

because that's before we've started importing athletes from other countries

Our talent is more thinly spread over a variety of sports

Remember the last time we were good?
Country was split and about to be nuked any day, so the state spend money on sports.
It's similar with Britain right now, they are slowly slipping into irrelevance and poverty so they get they success fix from sports.

China didn't actually choke that hard. They were projected to get 29 and got 26.

We won more golds in London because we pumped a lot more athletes into our games, it's amazing how little you spend on air travel for hundreds of athletes when you host your own games.

Russia not allowed in track

The UK is the finest sporting nation in Western Europe. It's not debatable.

>muh divegrass

They just don't focus on it with the same frothing-at-the-mouth passion as other Euro countries. They also have cricket, rugby, tennis, and cycling.

what really hurts the most for me are the medals in track cycling

germany once dominated this sport but now all the great german coaches work for team GB because they don't get the money here in germany

german cycling federation and the german sport funding system is so fucked up

>impressed.jpg

>Most

6 of 27 golds

>They just don't focus on it with the same frothing-at-the-mouth passion as other Euro countries

yeah they do, but that's not a reason to devalue their sporting success

>money
>wish to always be relevant
>like sports
its not hard

Our rowing coach is also German. Thanks.

Wouldnt've won shit there anyway, pretty much everyone either finished their careers or banned. We got 1 gold last WC in track, comparing to 6-7 usual.

If they allowed weightlefters and track, we would've gotten more medals, but overall gold amount would be pretty much the same, maybe a 2-3 more, so basically exactly like in London, GB would've won anyway

Refugees don't pay for themselves, Hans.

Germany had a strong games compared to London, niceone.

>most for me

top notch reading comprehension, fucktard

even the traffic warden/cop is a nigger

Brownlee gold silver in triathlon tells part of the story. The gold one made the good point that there's a big amatuer following for his meme sport. Apply world class coaching to two Yorkshire plebs and there you go. Rich boys used to dominate that but got btfo.

There are a select few countries who understand that other sports than soccer exist. UK is one of them.

1996 was a very harsh anomaly. Before then Britain just kept plodding along getting top 10 finishes every so often and usually hovering around 10th place. The likes of France and Italy who have similar populations to us have participated in more or less the same amount of Summer Games as GB, yet GB has more golds overall so we weren't exactly shit.

the gold medals count is actually pretty good, best since 96 atlanta

but overall medals count is 2nd worst since reunification which says a lot about sport in germany

That 96 crash brought in the lottery funding.

96 was the entirety of britain giving their energy to the great tony blair, so that things could only get better

Kek

You got EXTREMELY lucky with gold, that gold/overall difference is insane, especially comparing to countries above you.

You won't get as lucky next time and France and Japan will step up, might experience a huge fall in Tokyo

im sorry lads

when are we gonna have actual competition, this is getting boring now

>implying Beijing counts
they were doped out of their minds

Same situation here. But please explain how USA is doing better than you guys in footy.

>You got EXTREMELY lucky with gold
yeah this is exactly what I wanted to state out.
Even numbers for all three medals are the normal case, which would mean 14 golds, silvers and bronzes, which would put Germany in the same league with france and japan.

water helps

since 1966

Right?

It's kind of amazing how many gold medals they won. I had to do a double take when I saw their medal count

The German Olympic Federation had a minimum target of 16 gold and 44 overall medals.
Maximum projection was 71 medals so they kinda underperformed.

People laugh at meme tier degrees like sports science, but the growth in quality of coaching and attitude to training and knowledge driven by unis like Loughborough have revolutionised the lesser known sports.

If we can transfer that to schools it should mean we are a top competitor for a long time, and hopefully it will bleed through into English footballers.
