>Watching a literal freak show.

They should have made the Paralympics first.

Don't forget London was a one-off, Rio's cripplegames will be as poorly organised and totally ignored as they usually are

It's shit. Because you have people of various degrees of disabilities competing against each other, most of the events are blowouts. I know for the track stuff they try to grade people on the extent of their disability, but invariably you'll get someone winning the 200m 10 seconds ahead of the next person.

its pretty unfair most of the time

Wheelchair basketball is the only fair paralympic sport, the only good one as well

...

I can't wait to see even more empty stands

they should add some ramps so the players might try a dunk

GOALBALL WHEN?!

>sitdown sports

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""Great" Britain will sweep

>waiting
>using their sight
>paralympics
Waste of time 2bh

that is so boring

Apparently there's going to be wheelchair rugby. I may watch that for 2 minutes to see literally how that is even possible.

the swimming events are quite entertaining

They've run out of money for it apparently. Running on skeletal budget.

Also, known as Murderball.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=_kaT5dDiISw

GOAT Documentary, desu.

Is anyone actually going to see this?

Quite. I find this more interesting than the Olympic swimming.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=_oXIdPoSLlE

>Their poor heads.

Wheelchair rugby is where the money is at, since they can ram each other like hell.

I have a fetish for amputee women so I guess I'll give it a go

2 weeks ago I was at a restaurant and my waiter told me his blind friend was .5 seconds away from beating a Micheal Phelps record.
I didn't tip him.

Lmao even a Chink with no arms is faster than Australians with all 4 limbs.

>Not watching Paralympic Archery.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=qxruQ5biVI0

I see what other anons meant by inequal handicaps.
That burger is pretty damn impressive.

The Triathlon will be added to the Paralympic in Rio!

Looks awesome!

I have a feeling this will be great.

can't wait for the 100m just a torso worm race

>tfw a dude with no arms is considerably better at archery than you

They have different classifications. I was reading up and it says, it's not about if one Paraplympian has all their limbs and the opponent doesn't. It's all about how their particular disability affects their performance determines which their classification.

I really don't understand the Paralympics?

Is there a version of the sport for every disability? Like is there a midget 100m, a down syndrome 100m, a 100m for people without limbs, etc? Or do they throw them all together?

*which determines

These ones barely look retarded.

They're not retarded, they're physically disabled.

Isn't that hard to determine?
How can they tell precisely if it's the guy's handicap that affects them or if they're simply not as good at the sport?

That's because they're not, you're thinking of the special Olympics, Paralympics is for physically disabled people

How the fuck does a man with no arms decide that he wants to take up archery?

i feel ashamed if i laugh about something i didnt pay for

Nvm, this makes it clearer.

The Paralympics on Sup Forums? Holy shit that's going to be the best thing ever

Instead of the constant bitchfest of how great the USA is that was the Olympics, we finally get to all get together and have a good time watching the pure entertainment of our nations' handicapped in global harmony all while having many a good laugh

Going to be awesome

The 2012 Paralympic was quite nice. Roughly same amount of "make fun" as the Olympics. People were just getting into and enjoying the games.

And, of course, you had people picking "Waifus"...

What exactly is that discus thrower's disability? He looks like he is just injured

lmao

Genuinely makes me smile.
I missed them in 2012 but I'll be sure to watch some stuff this year.

Right leg.

What events do you guys wanna check out. Missed Powerlifting last Olympics, so def wanna catch it this year.

fug, i remember we have a really hot limpy qt here in NL. I will research and report back

Marlou van Rhijn?

congrats, you win first wheelfu claim

Among the Dutch athletes, I have another favourite. She's the #1 ranked now, after Esther Vergeer (also Dutch, and GOAT) retired.

That was a great movie

I've been googling and i just found out even our midgets are qt

btw are you that Van Der Vlist obsessed norwegian ?

I'm obsessed with a number of female Paralympic athletes, but Van der Vlist is not among them.

I can never guess why...

someone explain, why do they make diffrient competitions for disabled in sports like shooting or archery if these players are perfectly capable of competeing in normal olympics?

I could already see the koreans owning this too

>these players are perfectly capable of competeing in normal olympics?
They aren't.

I think they are the dons of Paralympic archery, too. Plus, fencing.

Bump

Can't wait.

according to the IOC is not

You have a separated olympics for the retarded
and also one separated one for deaf people,

>tfw I always though the Para in Paralympics was short for Paraplegic or Paralysed or something along those lines

>turns out it just means The Parallel Olympics.

I can't wait for 19 different categories of 100 m freestyle.

death walk pls

Really? Damn, I thought that as well.

I'm guessing they don't have high jump at the paralympics.
