Okay so apparently Sup Forums likes Jamiroquai now. Can you guys rec me some stuff in this vein? Stevie Wonder of course, but what else? What are the funk/soul basics? And is there other good 'acid jazz' worth checking?

No, stop false flagging for recs. He is a mediocre artist with a few okay singles.
The fuck are you talking about? This board is fucking stupid at times. Go back to your 300 post 'music' thread about Trump
Nice Sup Forums reference.
>he
The studio musicians know how to jam together well, but they don't have much depth desu
I was actually hoping for some recs and discussion if anyone wants to not be a colossal faggot. If you don't think it's any good then educate me. I'm not saying I can't go to RYM and listen to the top 10 funk albums or whatever, it's just that doesn't really beat getting recs from someone who actually knows their shit. Assuming there's anyone here who does...
>not being a colossal faggot
you got the wrong board m8!
All I can say is that I like Jamiroquai too!
I always wondered what Sup Forums thought about them, I've never seen any threads about them.
I MUSTA DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN
from my personal experience (listened to jamiroquai for a while) - their early titles are pretty good to jam, recent album was a mess, they're pretty cool to listen but they really wear off quickly
Their early albums are overall the best yeah, but I thought Rock Dust Light Star was pretty good in its own right. Probably their best album since the 90's. It's really different from their usual work.
Eh, or maybe not. A Funk Odyssey was pretty decent like the 90's albums I think, probably better than the two albums after it.
I wonder if the new one is gonna be good!
since no one actually answered your question, check these out...
incognito - positivity
red snapper - prince blimey
st germain - tourist
Moodymann
Brand New Heavies
On the topic of Jamiroquai, what do y'all think of the new song?
it's their best single since Canned Heat
>Since (Don't) Give Hate a Chance
Fixed
tbf they never stopped producing great singles. well except maybe their last album. i don't really remember hearing any of those, i guess it was a flop
welcome to Sup Forums, everyone is a faggot here.
I always try to find music catchy and danceable as jamiroquai singles.
I think I cam rec only albums that make me feel that way, but they aren't exactly jamiroquai style.
prince-1999
tame impala-currents
Michael jackson-thriller
you already know the stevie wonder classic i guees.
also try modjo, jassanova, brand new heavis!
also, you already listen to some albums of he? can you rec me your favorite one?
Jay Kay has some of the sickest moves and hats ever conceived, but the idea of a car enthusiast environmentalist bugs me to no end
I like it, though I hate the pronunciation of 'Automaton'
I prefer "Au-toh-mah-ton" over "Autoe-may-ton"
>Sup Forums discusses hip-hop incessantly but has no clue where to start with funk, soul or rnb
is all this thread is showing me. no wonder everyone here hates black people
I miss this little guy on their album covers
This corner of Sup Forums is like me in many ways
this
add dance music to the list too
OP here. Sorry for my unbearable whiteness :^) I really did just want some recs
Thanks for these, there is stuff here I haven't checked out so cheers
Been like that since day one
Shame /groove/ never took off with only 4 regular posters
why is Sup Forums talking about this garbage
Not really funk and soul "basics", but here's some of the funk, soul and disco that i'm listening to at the moment.
Butterfly - Kimiko Kasai / Herbie Hancock
Stevie wonder presents syreeta - syreeta
Discotheque - Herbie Man
Let's stay together - Al Green
Fantasy - Aquarium dream
Space Cowboy is better
Shit's dank and I like it.
Emergency > Cowboy > Travelling > Who Cares
On top of classic Funk/Soul records, I recommend current jam bands which many are pretty inspired by or at least float around the same styles as Jamiroquai
