>Should the Olympics be permanently held in Athens (or another city) to avoid more disasters like Rio in the future?
No? The solution is just to simply not hold the Olympics in shitholes like Rio and Sochi. You don't have to hold it in one city permanently.
Any large first world city could permanently host it, not like you wouldn't be crazy if you wanted to host it all the time. The Olympics is actually kind of big burden and is expensive.
Ethan Gray
They should rotate it around cities that have proven they can do a good job
London Sydney Beijing Tokyo Another Euro city An American City
Instead they will go to the middle east in the next 20 years and Africa before 2050
Dominic Garcia
They should build an olympic island somewhere
Cameron Sullivan
>Africa before 2050 TUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUUTUUUUTUUUUUUUUTUUU
Adrian Gomez
>britfags bashing on Rio thinking anyone will fall for such bat bait and say London was better
Josiah Rivera
>Instead they will go to the middle east in the next 20 years and Africa before 2050
fucking christ
m8 I would have been fine not having London. I just think having a permanent and brilliant facility in Athens would be ideal
Dominic Allen
Greeks are too retarded to even care about hosting what is legitimately constructed by them.
We are in this situation and noone gives a fuk that we can demand some post WW II money that will literally save our ass from this shiet.
But to be fair since I was at a good age to watch the 04 games, hosting the olympics in your country is something everyone should live and experience, so Im okay with it being held elsewhere.
Chase Cruz
No one needs to say it we all know it.
Jeremiah James
Disaster? Does Your shit country has ever host two biggest event in less 4 years ?
Hudson Robinson
Fuck that, hold them in Tokyo everytime forever.
Grayson Perez
Bring it back to Athens for a year for ancient tradition sake. Brazil was an embarrassment.
Ayden Hernandez
the Olympics weren't made for you to watch from your couch. It is supposed to unite the whole world. It is a shame that the same country host it multiple times.
I hope Africa, India and the Arabs host it in the next 50 years.
John Myers
Not worse like Atlanta
Brody Smith
Glad to see someone agrees.
Charles Evans
I agree with the opinion it should be hosted to many countries as olympics are meant to unite the nations.
>athens I obviously would agree with that because the facilities already exist,it would bring a huge visitors revenue and jobs in athens.Would refresh athens after a 7 year huge recession decay. But not permanently, olympics would lose their magic imo.
Austin Martin
This would never happen. The IOC would never allow it because that means they can't get bribed anymore
Cameron Ward
It was far from perfect but it wasn't really a disaster. Fuck you
#triggered
Dominic Parker
I believe one of the many great things about the Olympics is how each one has a different tone based on the culture of the area it is in.
I think the Olympics is something the world should aspire to. People will rip me for this, but I wish there was more help from larger countries to smaller countries to help then build facilities. Like, maybe build the facility and take the profits during the Olympics or something.
I also feel people keep trying to beat Beijing. If the goal was just to build safe and functional over bigger and better we would find a big drop to cost of hosting.
William Kelly
nobody turned up. that's a disaster
I couldn't give a shit about green water and muggings. The attendance was pathetic and will be long remembered as such
Jose Flores
It was terrible breh. Everybody knows it, just accept it
Carter Martinez
you'd have to be a madman to not choose London
Kayden White
Let see...
Zika making pin heads Poo water getting people sick Robberies Sexual assault More robberies Running out of food for people Press bus shot at Kayaker hit a couch BOOOOOOOOOOO Empty seats Olympic housing breaking down everywhere Shit not working EVERYWHERE
But not a disaster because...there wasn't a major terrorist attack?
Charles Bell
Nope, it's not my responsibility, as an American taxpayer, to "help" build the countries of shithole countries. If a single penny of my wages goes to this, I'd be against it.
If people want to volunteer and help, that's great. But we should never use government resources to "help" build facilities for monkeys in Brazil or any other country
Gavin James
Yes. Also make private fundings instead of public ones.
John White
How about this
In athens every 8 years and another country inbetween?
Jackson Morris
You forgot about the bullets that flew through the equestrian area and the dismal attendance. Add those to the list
Connor Reyes
>The attendance was pathetic and will be long remembered as such this
Lucas Anderson
I'd rather my money go to having great Olympics rather than making more bombs. The games are what the world should aspire to.
Liam Rodriguez
You can still have great Olympics in countries that can afford them on their own without outside help. The less wealthy countries are still always invited if their athletes are good enough. These countries can also aspire to one day become successful enough to host them on their own
Blake Bennett
attendance for what? field hockey? nigeria vs honduras at soccer? we won't go for these shit events nor eurofag sports.
Jayden Wilson
And that mentality is why the Rio Olympics were a disaster. Most other countries weren't like this
Than God Brazil is going to be irrelevant sone. No more World Cup, no more Olympics. And the 7-1 will never go away no matter how many U23 championships are won
Liam Hill
Yes. The facilities could be incredible if they werent building all new shit from scratch every 4 years and instead focusing on one site. They will.
And athletes will die from the heat. Screencap this for 20 years from now.
Liam Hughes
>Zika was literally a non-issue >Amerifat even saying this when zika in florida is literally going out of control >Robberies were a MAJOR ISSUE >t. Ryan Lotche >Implying dumb tourists don't get robbed at every olympics >implying that is our fault >fixed quickly >no one got injured or died >implying chicago gangbangers would have been any better >non-issue >Not being able to handle the banter of a language you don`t even understand >implying other nations don`t heckle >Implying people should give a shit about events like field hockey or other euronigger events >fixed in the first few days >even the fucking aussies said it was good
But slurp up that british semen some more, americuck.
Jayden Cruz
>Instead they will go to the middle east in the next 20 years and Africa before 2050
Deathmarch in Nairobi 2052. Oh boy.
Jaxson Foster
Don't worry... We don't care for the 7-1, actually it's a joke here for every brazilian corruption case, disaster or failure. Most countries are more of the same, idolizing eurofag sports or just watching the event. As the crowd sang yesterday: if you don't want to cheer or sing, watch the game on your pay per view. channel.
Parker Hill
>Zika in Brazil definitely is an issue >can't refute the green water lel >just look at youtube. robberies in Rio are everywhere >implying Lochte didn't get fucked as well >robberies were way worse at Rio than other Olympics >yes it's your country's fault >shouldn't have to be fixed in the first place, should have been ready >still shouldn't have happened, should have been better prepared >but we've never had an Olympics at Chicago have we? >it's an issue and it's a bad reflecting on Brazil >being rude >other nations heckle but not like monkeys and don't do it incessantly >you're hosting the Olympics, you should give a shit and fill the seats >still shouldn't need to be fixed, should have been ready. you had years to prepare >the Aussies were literally told not to go out after dark. Of course they say it was okay in their bubble
Joshua Brown
What I really wanted to know is what the normalfags outside Sup Forums things about the Olympics. I mean if you believe what it's said here in Sup Forums, you'd believe it sucked. If you believe what our media are saying about the press of other countries, you'd believe it was a great one.
I could care less if it was good or not, I just wanted to know out of curiosity.
Kayden Taylor
By them? By an ancient and foregone people who inhabit the region more than two thousands years ago. The Republic of Macedonia could do the same claim.
Ryan Gomez
Sup Forums is a foul community, but that's why I am here. I am not sure how the true outside thinks about Rio 2016. My honest opinion is that we made good games, but not great. Also I can't blame the others of thinking of this cerimony as boring, since the brazilian culture is probably only know as soccer and samba.
Josiah Evans
WAKE ME UP
Noah Ortiz
>he thinks that his goverment is good in some way
Nah. Every government is the face of its respective society. In your case, American government acts as a average American: Greedy*, but prodigal; arrogant and "nationalistic", but judges and disrupts the lives of others.
* The money given to Brazil in 40s to enhance national industry wasnt "help" or something; was a triffle to (try to) dissimulate Vargas, because we knew that US Gov were already sabotaging us relatively to our relations with Germany and Japan (note: the torpedoes who shot the Brazilian Navy at the time werent Nazi torpedoes, but AMERICAN torpedoes).
Not to mention the global spying, which is admitted by your gov.
So, yes, dear American, the US government, actually, is repulsive -- just like its common people. No one really likes them. In fact, you also arent a reference to anything, except sophisticated violence and consumerism. Science? Jews. Freedom concepts? Only demagogic crap today. And so on...
You can shove your dollar up your fat ass now. Brazil dont need - or want - your money (or your people). Never wanted. We would be better today if US didnt interfere our business.
It pains me to agree with him, but despite Galvão trying extremely hard to convince people otherwise, this Olympics was a big embarrassment for us as a country. It was definitely a net negative for us.
Dominic Edwards
They should construct a whole island in international waters that is neutral and has all the stadia, all athletes and spectators must arrive via boats like in Mortal Kombat.
Robert Campbell
>Kayaker hit a couch The Olympics is over and people still believing in this stupid hoax.
Daniel Reed
vira latinha fofo
Ethan Stewart
This would be fantastic desu
Nicholas Taylor
Sincerely, I don't agree with your opinion. Not sure what the hell you were watching. It's not like we would became a 1st world shithole in seven years. But we did good.
Logan Rivera
Greece is almost turning into as much of a socialist shithole as Brazil though they will probably fuck up even worse. They're not the same nation they were in and prior to 2004
Grayson Perez
they can sing the Internationale for victory ceremonies
Owen Collins
Said the drone
Camden Mitchell
Now we can see how some Ashkenazim with some union sense of identity can rule the facto the United States. The people who lives there are just stupid as fuck.
No wonder their lives basically resumes to solve problems created by themselves.
Thomas Hill
Seems pretty comfy desu
Lucas Williams
Rio was not a disaster
British posters are the worst
Jordan Baker
I liked the Rio Olympics.
Brasilbros, what's the name of that singer with the afro who sang beneath the cauldron of fire? I love her voice.
Ryan Martinez
>greece >socialist
The socialist government they only elected in January 2015 got fucked over big time by the EU
Jack Robinson
Nice try Luis, hop back over the border to Huezil
Sebastian James
Where are you guys getting this attendance crap from? The biggest events were all full, I went to swimming, athleticism, gym, judo and a few others, they were absolutely full despite the prices, even on days without Phelps or Bolt.
The booing was real though, I got called a mutt for telling a fag to shut the fuck up.
These fuckers must wanna watch field hockey or Honduras vs. Nigeria. Most of these games were really late here, around 22 or midnight, it was really hard to see these events at that hour. There's a myth that the events were held at this hour because of the american tv broadcast.
Ian Thomas
I've seen plenty of televised events that seemed they weren't even at 20% attendance capacity.
Ayden Hughes
The IOC will never have their olympics held in a few select congruent places only. There's too much money involved in how they do it now. If they had the Olympics only in plces that already have sport infrestructure and don't need to waste vast sums of money on building new shit every four years, that would represent a massive loss of income for the IOC.
Anthony Fisher
Good comeback. I guess Brazil is just a beautiful and safe country then lel
Isaiah Mitchell
Thats you saying it. Plenty of gymnastic ones for instance seemed pretty empty
Whose bright idea was it to host a game in a 3rd world shithole in the first place?
Christopher Hall
What? I just got back from the basketball FINAL and there were A LOT of empty seats. And it was worse than that in every other event that I attended.
John Morgan
I would swap Atlanta for Los Angeles
William Parker
what a joke
at that point why not just give the tickets away for free?
fucking hell modern sport is so ruined by money
Carter Russell
that's cool too, I was just going off the most recent olympics
the idea is to have a diverse range of timezones
Samuel Turner
We have our own shit just like America. The difference between us and the rest world is that our shit is in front of our home and the rest of world hides it at their backyard.
They said that the bullet was from the shooting competition that was near. So fuck off.
Dylan Scott
Lol, even Reuters want to fuck brazil's reputation. haha
Christopher Lewis
What I don't understand is why there weren't tickets for sale in a lot of games. I mean, people bought it and didn't go? For example, I know for certain that the basketball final was sold out.
Oliver Allen
>implying 90% of Sup Forums is old enough to have remembered it
Zachary Martinez
Did you go to any volleyball? I only got one indoor match with Brazil in it and it was quite full, but I heard there were some empty seats in other games.
I didn't expect basketball to attract a lot of people though, despite being the US playing. People don't really care much.
Easton Adams
You mean American*** posters are the worst.
Jack Cox
At least we wouldn't be in South Africa since it would be Winter when the Summer games and Summer during the Winter games.
If it going to be in Africa, it probably be in Lagos.
Adrian Stewart
>Atlanta
2 dead and 111 wounded.
Matthew Clark
>Berlin
Hitler...
Blake Roberts
>Cincinnati
Harambe's assassination :(
Luis Sullivan
>Not from Rio >Gain nothing from this event, besides more debt
This kind of big international party should be reserved to rich countries only, we are poor, why do we need to spend so much money on useless shit like this?
In the end our image probably got worse because gringos get triggered easily and the first world dwellers will still think that Brazil is a shithole, this is exactly what happened with South Africa during the world cup.
Nicholas Walker
The attendace was average and it was better than in 2004, yet we don't see anybody bashing Athens for that. Oh, that's it, you're too young too even remember anything pre-2012, you fucking faggot.
Evan Parker
I've noticed that the ones bashing Rio 24/7 are always British faggot, trying to make their shitty Olympics look better
Aiden James
>disasters like Rio harsh
but yes, just lock that shit in athens, the rotating thing is a money-losing farce
Angel Wright
North Korea
Landon Baker
>athens
Yeah, no. I'd say Beijing again but it's on the other side of the planet
Anthony Morales
Isn't Greece poorer than half of latin america?
William Kelly
so? Greece has had bigger problems in the last few years.
If it was permanently there it would be a long term boost.
Cooper Ortiz
that's actually not a bad idea
Nicholas Rivera
>but yes, just lock that shit in athens, the rotating thing is a money-losing farce maybe, but you have to admit, having the olympics in a city in a close timezone was fucking great
Logan Bailey
You do know it's winter here in Rio right now, right?
Michael Murphy
Why do you lie in the internet
Being Brazilian on Sup Forums is tiresome, it will be good to be out of the spotlight.
Sebastian Carter
So that means the so-called Summer Games were in Winter... lol it must be confusing for the Northerners from earth..
Colton Rodriguez
Did you know both Olympics took place the same year in the summer and winter back in the 20th century?
