Any releases worth checking out this year, lads?
I keep wanting to ask what this album is every time I see it, but then I remember it's already in my library and didn't sound good enough to finish
banger
What are some of the best shugazi releases that aren't dream pop or shoegaze?
sunbather lol
people tryin 2 deny how good it is though
Grouper AIA is some top tier ambient pop
It's a mostly people being contrarian now that it's gained mild traction outside of Sup Forums. Personally I never liked it too much since I don't like harsh vocals in genres that aren't traditionally harsh.
Summer in my veins is some good wall noise
Cigarettes after sex
Yeah I like all of these
What's your opinion on this album?
Generic Slowdive/mbv ripoff or underrated masterpiece?
I downloaded it a long time ago but haven't listened to it. It's probably cool but maybe it sucks I don't know, I'm not gonna find out.
I'm sorry for not being helpful I don't know what the fuck I'm doing. I hate myself.
hey your post made me laugh, that's a positive contribution to the world
very poppy, very soft, quite enjoyable
>Generic Slowdive/mbv ripoff or underrated masterpiece?
neither
it's her voice that makes it stand out so much, not as much as the atmosphere like in an mbv or slowdive shoegaze release
not a masterpiece either though, a band that was too short-lived to develop to their fullest potential
>I downloaded it a long time ago but haven't listened to it. It's probably cool but maybe it sucks I don't know, I'm not gonna find out.
I know that feel too well.
I always have bunch of albums downloaded but I never end up listening to them.
...
I saw Kairon; IRSE! new album for streaming here:
soundi.fi
But apparently it got down.
Wait, Kairon has a new album coming up?
yeah, it's out on feb. 3rd
I didn't know, Ujubasajuba is one of my favorites in the genre. I'm hyped now.
Speaking of Kairon; IRSE!, any idea why they changed the artwork for ujubasajuba?
medicines latest two albums are real good
Totally forgot about Dälek.
I'll have to listen to his stuff again.
It's really good
I imagine it's because they're doing a vinyl and they couldn't really get the original artist to give them the rights.
I'm looking for some happy dream pop similar to this youtube.com
velocity. design. comfort
>velocity. design. comfort
p sure that's like both dream pop and shoegaze
the noisy xiu xiu albums
knife play or something
Uh, Moscow Olympics?
Though they have vocals and much more energy.
>velocity. design. comfort
that's just shoegaze with some IDM and Glitch mixed in
Thoughts on my blackgaze/post black metal project?

Newest rehearsal video:
youtu.be
Sorry for shilling. We're more metal than shoegaze, but we're all fans of the genre and it has definitely influenced our music.
The sound quality on your rehearsal video isn't all that great, but the songwriting is definitely there. Keep it up, lads.
I'm playing this rn and is very good desu
Are their other albums good?
I like their first album a lot, but not their second. A lot of people do like their second though so maybe you will too. I haven't listened to any of their other stuff.
Any raga-gaze like the last track in Seance and I think a couple tracks in Blood Music?
Hey guys I'm trying to make a chart to put 2017 shugazi albums that we think are good so we could fill it out and edit it throughout the year. By the beginning of next year we should be able to have it finalized with what we think is the best shit from 2017.
I don't really know many albums to put on here right now so I'll put in any 2017 full-length you suggest and we can edit and replace once it's full.
that's from 2016
good release though
Doesn't answer your question but I forgot all about The Durutti Column, really love this song youtube.com
Reminds me of John Frusciante actually
Fusciante said that Reilli is his favoeite guitarrist.
Also DC is proto dream pop
suburbandeer.bandcamp.com
>shoegaze, math rock, noise rock, experimental, offensive production values and cover quality
One last hurrah for the month, maybe there's someone here that hasn't already seen this. Or if you have and are one of the many that gave up within the first song or two, try another! Skip to the end even, the closer has some nice warm shoegaze in it. Plus the last song is kinda the first song so it's not even cheating.
As always, feedback is welcome. Even if it's "this is really bad, we should collaborate for some reason."
lazylegs.bandcamp.com
Do EPs count?
tbqh lilys in general aren't that good
claire hates me is top tier but nothing else really does anything for me
this looks like it would sound like black tambourine
i've gotta check it out soon
Really digging the atmosphere of the first two tracks, downloading for a proper listen later.
I'm considering making another separate chart for EPs
But I'll add that on when I get to a computer again.
What are your opinions on this album?
I'm loving it right now except the mixing sounds just a tad muddy and it's not really long enough.
If bandcamp releases are eligible I'd also like to be immortalized in your picture. That way you'll have something to cut when albums that people actually listen to get released in a few months and it will all feel a little bit more like a carefully crafted labor of love.
no prob mane
How about some classic spanish shugazi?youtube.com
Link doesn't work for some fucking reason
youtube.com
how about some russian?
m.youtube.com
Reunion tour plz
Based. Also, their other band Earwig is great too.
Woah what the fuck is this?
what is wrong with it?
nothing it's pretty cool
youtube.com
anyways, new slowdive can't come soon enough
Listening to this right now. It's alright, but I don't get why it's so hard to find online/so expensive. It's not THAT good, you know?
bump. I thought this general had some dream pop knowledge
ozean.bandcamp.com
o shit they bandcamped it
Can somebody recommend me other groovy shoegaze (like the tracks She's my friend, Shallow, Bill and ben). I also like Title Fight's last album, Lush and Slowdive if that helps to set the vibe.
Try The Pastels. Slow Summits and Illumination are their most toned down and dream poppy but imo Mobile Safari and Sittin' Pretty are the better albums even though they aren't really /shugazi/ related.
aight updated
soundcloud.com
Slow but it has a trip-hop groovey vibe
like cocteau twins does synthpop with bjork as the vocalist
pretty cool
we have shoegaze
but where is pantsgaze???
>atmydickigaze
that would be that one rolling stones album
So what shoegaze was good in 2016? I didn't really pay attention to new releases.
Stargazer Lilies - Door to the Sun was my shoegaze AOTY
Underrated masterpiece. Slowbleed, leech, wishes, always in april, strands of paul, are some of the best shoe gays songs.
all of medicines albums are very good, except The Mechanical Forces of Love, which is oddly out of place and doesn't even sound like a Medicine album
Did shugazi revive the shoegaze scene yet?
Hopefully 2017 will show results
is Ride Noise pop or Brit pop also what is Brit pop
Ride predates britpop but I think their later albums are more britpoppy idk I haven't listened to them yet.
>what else is britpop
Oasis
nice1
sounds more like Dead Can Dance tbqh
Just got back from Cigarettes After Sex live, good to see a /shugazi/ thread up
they revealed a couple new songs
I forget I live in their hometown. I've never listened to them.
Is there a darker dream pop album than this one?
Looking for recs
Ride is putting out an album this year, or did /shugazi/ forget already?
What do you think of this album? I happened upon it by chance and haven't seen it posted before.
Cocteau Twins - Garlands
youtube.com
never ever forget man
is it full yet
They are playing in my town in a couple of weeks with some krautrock/folk bands, maybe i'll go and see them.
I'm considering seeing Sound of Ceres. Who here has seen them live? How was it?
im seeing Ride live in 2 months but I've only listened to their first 2 lps but absolutely adore them, what to expect lads?
Great Shoegaze.
Prefer it to Ride.
Anybody got Mega/torrent?
Is this shoegaze?
Regardless of that, why is it so GOAT?
>best album cover
>best sound palette
>best savoured on LSD
>Black Hearted Brother will never make another album.
I can't be the only one who really likes them, right?
you guys will dig this channel
