As a proud Californian i say fuck this!
You cant just throw up your hands and quit a democracy just because you lost a round of elections.
Also the people behind /calexit/ seem oddly confident that they are going to have everyone on board with this when we have thus far done jack-shit to unify the state as one unit. The rural people up north feel disaffected and wont be game for this and inner city minorities will have no reason to believe this is for the best either.
>Hey Jefferson! We know our policies took away your economic bedrock (the logging industry) as well as you guns and have yet to provide you even halfway decent infrastructure, but you should put everything on the line for some political hissyfit!
>Hey my inner city negro amigos! We know our education policies have left your poor schools destitute while the white schools get more money than they know what to do with and have done nothing about police corruption. (But hey! We sent some upper class minorities some affirmative action so that helps right!?!). But now we need you to pick up this gun and get yourself shot in the face by the national guard in order to aid the political jostling of liberals who only pretend to care about you!
I love California and want whats best for my motherland, and while I am liberal I know this is just some reactionary bullshit.
You say that like the rest of the nation doesn't want you to secede. We do.
Don't get me wrong I would be fine with California becoming an independent country. The problem with this whole thing is that the separatists want to have the illustrious honor of being a nation-state, but the thing about nation-states is, first you need a nation.
They have done nothing to unify the people outside of circle jerking about Trump. If California ever wanted independence they need three things.
1. Learn to give the rural and far northern areas the respect they deserve. Find out what it will take for them to want to be Californians. Quit the partisan politics bullshit and build a national identity that isn't centered around who is in Washington.
2. Synchronize the different racial and ethnic groups into a single overarching identity. Dividing the country by racial/religious/party groups is fine in a nebulous federation such as the U.S. but it will kill a smaller nation-state.
3. Stop using so much goddamned water. The Central Valley is using up its groundwater to feed unsustainable crops, and Los Angeles is Los Angeles. We have no idea if we will get to keep the provisions of the Colorado River Compact and we may need to learn to live without it.
>mfw California votes to secede and is invaded, sparking the Californian War of Secession and resulting in hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties
C*lifornians should secede from the living.
>Commiefornia secedes
>50% tariff on water imports from Nevada
>entire """""country""""" turns into desert wasteland within 2 years
don't talk shit until you can provide your own basic necessities of life.
% tariff on water imports from Nevada
Its not imported in the water is running through our lands.
>we have no idea if we will get to keep the provisions of the Colorado River Compact
If you secede you'll get that water over my dead body
>Implying the newly-build Colorado Dam will open without precious commie tax dollars to grease the wheels
enjoy the dessicated life
Yeah this is what I don't get.
See that river? Notice how it is running immediately adjacent to California? That means the water isn't imported. California has just as much of a right to the water as any other river state.
>Well just dam the river upstream of commiefornia!
Good luck without California's tax dollars bankrolling it. We were always carrying the team as far as western states go. Also are you really going to obliterate lake Havasu City (your own city) out of spite for the enemy.
>Trump will never do something potential detrimental to the country just to spite a foreign opponent!
It will be federal dollars bankrolling it, dumbass. Not to mention you're gonna need a whole lot more ports once you stop getting your food imported from the flyovers
California would struggle as an independent country even with a friendly US administration. You will never survive with Trump in the white house.
>California importing food
>shitty campaign to weaken America
>not instead balkanize the West Coast into good states
>Haphazardly breaking up the central valley
>Splitting parts of Greater Los Angeles into different states so now people have to commute across state lines every day.
>tfw Cali imports food to BC
A quick google search shows that Memefornia imported $10.8 billion worth of agriculture/livestock in 2013
Also about 25% of C*lifornia's power comes from outside the state: eia.gov
Again, Trump's foreign policy is divided between angry tweets and trade wars. Gl hf.
>implying the Six Californias plan isn't the sole good thought one, correctly dividing the regions into more harmonious states
It's not like cross-state working isn't a huge thing already anyway.
>california leaves
>cant get computers anymore.
>california has just as much right to a river it contributes nothing to as any other state
That tiny area of the basin in CA is all desert and those """"""tributaries"""""" are dry 99% of the time.
You are an idiot
>In 2015, California exported approximately 26 percent of its agricultural production by volume, accounting for $20.69 billion in value. California’s leading agricultural export products by value are almonds ($5.14 billion), dairy products ($1.63 billion), walnuts ($1.49 billion), wine ($1.48 billion), and pistachios ($848 million).

>Also about 25% of California's power comes from outside the state:
You say that like building new power plants inst a thing. Its a hurdle but not a deadly one.
>correctly dividing the regions into more harmonious states
No these people just want to rip apart the most liberal state to gerrymander more conservatives into congress.
so? I guess Egypt should just fuck off from the nile
Since the number of electoral votes is fixed it wouldn't help much, as the smaller rural/conservative states would probably lose votes in the end after a California split. Also on the whole map only three out of nine new states would be conservative.
This is correct
>California
>Making anything
>Yes California is the nonviolent campaign to establish the country of California using any and all legal and constitutional means to do so. We advocate for peaceful secession from the United States by use of an independence referendum to establish a mandate, followed by a nationwide campaign to advocate in support of a constitutional exit from the Union. By joining this campaign, signing up as a member, donating, volunteering, or otherwise supporting this important cause, you agree to these nonviolent principles.
While Yes California supports and encourages Californians to stand up and take direct action, to be bold, and to unapologetically demand the liberation of the people of California from its captors, we explicitly reject conduct or speech inciting open rebellion against the American government.
>You say that like building new power plants inst a thing. Its a hurdle but not a deadly one.
Better build some desalination plants too. That -is- a deadly thing. And you probably will want to reestablish your own versions of federal agencies that currently handle regulations, safety, security etc in your state. That should only run a few trillion, yeah?
Oh, and the longer it takes you to get things fixed, the more irrevocably fucked your economy will get. Also, you almost certainly won't be able to establish your own currency within the first five years, so have fun trying to negotiate favorable trade deals with the country that controls the value of your money AND that you just flipped the bird to by seceding.
>...gerrymander more conservatives...
Oh, it's an unironic partisan. No wonder you're so deluded.
On the plus side, if you do manage to survive I'm sure your national cuisine will have some very creative uses for almonds. Since evidently that's all you're going to be eating.
>That should only run a few trillion, yeah?
Which we should do fine one if we weren't carrying your dead weight.
>And you probably will want to reestablish your own versions of federal agencies that currently handle regulations, safety, security etc in your state.
Our state agencies are well established and will just need restructuring and oftentimes are more extensive than federal agencies.
>Oh, it's an unironic partisan. No wonder you're so deluded.
The conservatives have an established history of intentionally fucking unpolitical divisions and districts to make sure they win elections. I dot want that happening to california
why is california so shit
except at hockey
40% white
Never in my life met a Californian that I liked and I've met plenty
#12 in HD ranking for US states
what's that like? 480p?
Sorry i meant Human Development Index (HDI)
>California has a deficit budget, they have for over 20 years. they represent one of the largest economies in the world - larger than some countries, but they spend way more than they receive. Taxes are outrageously high, cost of living is on average, the highest in the country (State-wide average)
>That is the fiscal side of things.
>Educationally, they are 48th in primary/secondary education. Their colleges are… average, at best. So stupid people in very large numbers will be brought up in a California-only environment.
>And now with resources. California has very little oil or natural gas. They also don’t have coal, so… how would they make their power? They currently import a long of power from Arizona. They also have no water, their current reserves would only last a few months, and that’s dwindling. They source water from Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon - that would be cut off in a secession.
>The cost of business in California is already prohibitively expensive. Many companies only maintain a minimum presence to facilitate local operations. It would be VERY easy for these companies to cut ties entirely with California.
I don't think you understand what he's saying
he wants you guys to secede because he WANTS you to fail
>Their colleges are… average, at best.
K
Notice how that's a public university?
Gee, I wonder what that means
>Splitting parts of Greater Los Angeles into different states so now people have to commute across state lines every day.
You just described the Northeast Corridor and it works fine.
What does that mean?
...
Most of our oil is imported so we don't need the rest of the country for that.
Jesus christ Americans are fucking retarded.
>Their colleges are… average, at best. S
>caltech, UCLA, berkeley, USC and Stanford are average
>California has very little oil or natural gas.
Los Angeles literally sits on giant oil deposists
>how would they make their power?
Import, wind, solar and nuclear
>Many companies only maintain a minimum presence to facilitate local operations.
>world leader in tech, entertainment and agriculture
>le taxes are the only thong businesses care about meme
Stop posting that 3DPD trollop with all of your posts. She looks like a slapped fish.
These are by far the ugliest pants I've ever seen.
If California secedes from America, can we ask to have it join Canada?
>international board
>trying to get voters from one single federal subject of the United States
A civil war in the US sounds exciting.
Do your best California
Wes you can so Drumps can go apeshit on your ass.
Do you really want to give that lunatic any reason to go nuclear?
I already pledged thrice just to contribute my part when it comes to shitposting with real life consequences.
>california secedes
>usa annexes it within 48 hours
>thousands of leftards shipped to guantanamo for treason
Isn't life fun?
Signed
>USA
>Occupies something
>Gets shot and withdraws
Lmao
signed
>mfw there might end up being more pledgers than there are people in California
this would definitely be funny. Is there any way to see how many people have pledged so far?
literally right on the website
I didn't see it at first. Feels like they're trying to hide the number as long as it's small tbqh
you're probably right with that assumption. Once they hit about 500,000 they'll start displaying it more prominently
>MFW I'm a liberal Californian
>My side of the political spectrum is throwing a temper tantrum and is getting crazier by the day.
>My homeland is pushing for more reactionary bullshit
>The world is getting worse and I cant take any side
>Help me Sup Forums
Where's your homeland?
California. Inland Empire/Greater Angeles to be more specific
>reactionary
Is this the lefts buzzword equivalent of cuck?
I wanna see them have fun when they join mexico
no, it's nazi.
Yeah but they call everything they don't like reactionary now
I'm calling the left reactionaries, not the right.
I didn't read your post, I just said that the equivalent buzzword for cuck is nazi.
Although California could maintain themselves it still wont happen because they need a little thing called Water
We would certainly have to tighten our belts on all fronts. We like to eat foods that take up way too much water like meat, and almonds. A lot of what people think is desert is actually semi-arid where crops like beans, peppers, winter wheat, and potatoes do pretty well without too much water. Also we need to throw away the idea of lawns and private pools. So we could become water self sufficient but it would take a pretty big change our way of living and we are full of prissy bitches.
>people have to commute across state lines every day
You must have never lived in the Northeast
about the only people who'd benefit are the surenos and cartels.
>average colleges
>the entire UC system pretty much is highly regarded everywhere in the world, almost on par with the ivy leagues
full retardo. my school's the top in canada and 1/3rd of our faculty is from the UC system.
Nevada is the superior state anyways.
Californians should be driven into the sea.
Beat you to it, were already in the sea!
