good taste OP, how do you feel about La Chinoise?

Get some fucking taste, kid
Jesus christ

I haven't seen it yet but I'll probably go for it as my next Godard. Seems interesting enough and has both Jean Pierre Leaud and Juliet Berto so that atleast sounds promising. Still somewhat torn about Godard

well it's the only godard film i like, no disrespect to weekend which is incredible, but does almost nothing for me
cool that you have tsai ming liang and hsiao hsien on your chart
also, Mekas is really something else, isn't he?
the only one i don't recognize from your chart is bottom middle

>bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php
Link while I'm making my own

How many have you seen? Weekend is so far the only Godard I loved, the rest have been OK at best. Of what I'd seen I'd put Weekend first and then maybe Alphaville and probably 2 Or 3 Things I Know About Her afterwards but the rest didn't do much for me.

What Mekas should I watch next? Only seen As I Was Moving Ahead.

Also bottom middle is Beware Of A Holy Whore by Fassbinder

>tfw no topsters for film

>INB4 98% of these are edgy /2deep4u/ shit flicks
Also Never change Sup Forums

No one has taste as shitty as me

2/9 /2deep4u/ flicks
the rest and decent
>nottoobade

What's middle left, Night Of The Hunter? Solid stuff, how much Bergman have you seen?

names?

>inb4 triggered by my pleb taste
No shame m8s, these are the movies I enjoyed the most and are thus my favorites

this is a meme right?

...

Middle left is Night of the Hunter, yeah. I've seen Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, and Persona. I think Wild Strawberries is ultimately a better film than Seventh Seal but I have a personal attachment to Seventh Seal.

Thats sum tasty /trash/ m8

Which of them are 2deep4u? All of those films are incredibly straightforward.

Nice taste, you'd probably like Zulawski's Third Part Of The Night and Hou Hsiao-Hsien's A City Of Sadness

Check out Cries & Whispers next, it's quite different from what you've already seen but without a doubt Bergman's best and possibly Sven Nykvist's best work

>deep blue sea
Wat

im more triggered by the fact you used cover pics with titles and not pics of obscure cinematography from obscure kino.
you're doing it wrong faggot. never post here again.

i've seen almost all oh his works
gotta say hail mary and le gai savoir are visually stunning
journey to lithuania is my favorite, so is songs of avignon
have you seen berlin alexanderlatz?

dis gon b gud

Yeah I've seen Berlin Alexanderplatz, would probably put it in my all time top 10, terrific film. Seeing World On A Wire tonight

Saw it as a kid and it stuck with me.

As I've said, no shame

>mfw watching Moment of Innocence

Recents.

Great films, how did you feel about Jeanne Dielman?

I loved it. But I also understand how some might find it quite dull.

good my man, hope you like it
have you seen why does herr run amok?
il gattopardo, jeane dielman and woman of the dunes are incredible films
it definitely requieres patience

Yeah it's great but afaik Fassbinder didn't direct it, he just put his name on it so Fängler could sell it. Still a great film

but he did write it? or was that the same case?
didn't know fass was popular only one year after his debut, how do you feel about love is colder than death?

r8

good morrow

wrong

:)

3/8
3/9
2/9
Why doesn't anybody rate anymore?

Nobody gives a fuck about your dumb cunt opinion.

...

Autumn Sonata is super underrated. Im having a hard time recognizing middle left tho, is that Day of Wrath?

It is! Do you have a chart?

...

yeah im up here

Have you seen witch's cradle or dreams that money can buy?
Btw what's middle right?

Let's fight

I've seen Witches Cradle, but not the other. I'll add it to my watchlist

Middle right is Pas De Deux

sorry i got my left and right messed up, left was Pas De Deux and Right was Knight of Cups

Sure do, lot of good artists similar to deren worked in it
I thought middle left was pas de deux, you sure that's middle right?

Ok my man no worries
I haven't seen knight of cups but I see it's highly adored in these threads
Will probably watch it soon

I really love Deren, so that makes me want to check it out even more

And yea, KoC is definitely my favorite Malick after rewatching it, and revisiting his earlier works numerous times. Alot of people i know said it had to grow on them, but soon ranked highly among their favorites of his

How do you feel about ken Jacobs?
Or Kurt kren?

i've only seen the georgetown loop by jacobs, none by kren. if you want to drop a few of your faves ill def check them out

Thoughts on Frampton and Brakhage?

not bad honestly

Well I'm not too fond of a lot of experimental cinema, but I figured you may find them interesting
I'd recommend little stabs at happiness and star spangled to death from Jacobs
And self immolation (I think that's what it's called) from kren
I think brakhage is very interesting and I like some of his works, plus he kinda created Bruce baillie, so yeah, brakhage is essential
I don't think I've watched anything from frampton, anything you'd rec from him
Also i really recommend you watch
The secret formula

I;ve added your recs to my watchlist

as for Frampton, i'd check out Surface Tension and Manual of Arms. Both are insaely experimental, so if thats not your cup of tea then i feel alot of his work wont be at all. But to each his own!

Im gonna go get drunk, you can find me on letterboxd at /KagsMagnus if you have an account. Thanks for the recs my man

Shame, Under the Skin, Black Swan, and An American Werewolf in London have all been on my 3x3 before in previous years. Not bad yourself.

Am I too late for this?

2/2-Norte: the End of History

8.5/9-Tetsuo the Iron Man

4/4-The Last Picture Show

Oh shut up, you probably like capeshut and Reddit-core stuff.

5/5-Like Someone in Love/The Double Life of Veronique

I've only seen M, and it was eh.

5/5-The Vanishing (btw is bottom wight The Third Man? If not what is it?)

3/3-The Missing Picture

2/3-Dog Star Man

4/4-Umberto D

6/6-We Need To Talk About Kevan

Citizen Kane
Millennium Actress
George Washington
Ikiru
Apocalypse Now
Eyes Wide Shut
Persona
Dogville
The Life of Oharu
It's Such a Beautiful Day
End of Evangelion
Bad Lieutenant
Unforgiven

Just followed you, I'll check out what you told me
Also I like experimental, just that I liked it much more some time ago
Do you like hani or terayama?

I've seen umberto D, but thanks man

Oh sorry, what about Damnation, or Hour of the Wolf? And I'm really glad to see There Was a Father in someone chart, such an underrated film.

Oh and it's actually 5/5 I just realized bottom middle is Mouchette.

What's some essential Brakhage outside of Dog Star Man, Mothlight and Window Water? Also how do you guys feel about watching Brakhage with music? That is playing music of your own choice

Solid chart I was going to watch Norte tonight but I went with World On A Wire instead

Seen both bby but thanks lad, you got good taste
Sounds cool watching his images while listening to music of your choice
I'd rec act of seeing with ones own eyes, the one with child birth, mothlight
Or just his longer projects
What kinda music do you listen to?

World on a Wire is great too hope you enjoy it.

I want to do it since I think it can, at times, add a lot to his films but then again I feel like its betraying his choice of having his films be silent.
I should get on The Act Of Seeing honestly. I think child birth might be Window Water Baby Moving.
Lately been listening to a bunch of japanese noise rock, Fushitsusha and Les Rallizes Denudes mainly. Also bunch of nostalgic summery stuff

Just finished it. Great stuff, probably my second favorite Fassbinder after Berlin Alexanderplatz

You sir are a patrician

Well you. An probably fond more experimental stuff to listen music to
Also answer my question pls

yeah listen to korn while watching his movies you complete faggot.

I can't give you any good answers, could have sworn I had a better source saved away. Wikipedia credits him as a writer and he had already made a name for himself through his anti-theater movement so atleast he was someone even if it was years before he'd break through for real

hahahardcore^^^^^^^^

I've been meaning to watch Pastoral for a while, but im not sure who you mean by hani

again, i'll take any recs you wanna throw my way!

Susumi hani
Watch the trial, pastoral, glass cage, grass labyrinth by terayama
And nanami and bad boys by susumi hani
Did you follow me back my man? :(

I followed you bck my boy, it might be a delayed response

And thank you again, ill add those to my watchlist now.

>0/1 ? doin your own thing i guess
hype

I beg to differ.

1/3, i guess

what's bottom middle?

Trainspotting

Thanks, where's your chart my man? Now I see, thanks man

That isn't Tetsuo, thats Rashomon.

He's recommending you a film you Autist

Whoops, my bad. Not used to recs in 3x3 threads.

you're right, i should have been dishonest and try to play for the appeal of my peers! how did i not see it before!

Yeah, which is a damn shame, I wish more people would rec in these threads.

I take it you've seen Tetsuo, what about Kurenko or Kwaidan?

Tetsuo and Kwaidan are fantastic, dying to see Kuroneko but waiting to buy blu ray

i guess it seems a little disingenuous to me that 'pas de deux' (or meshes or andalousian dog )is really one of somebody's top favorite 9 films

if you really love them then fuck it ignore me who am i to say? you look like a goof to me though

agreed. dude is posturing so much

alright my boy, take care!

Let him be you niggers

Leave the racism on Sup Forums and your posturing on reddit

Why can't someone like exp short films without posturing?
You filthy nigger

only people who would put Un chien andalou in their top 9 are people who know nothing about experimental film and are posturing. there's much better shit out there. it's historically important but a top 9 film? lol

I'm not him and I hate bunuel
Post your chart if you're that cool about your taste

The Leopard is such a buttfucking boring movie. It's bourgeois propaganda that pretends like it's chronicling the end of bourgeois society, which makes it all the more insulting to watch. On top of it being a fucking put-me-to-sleep bore.

here

Well someone's poor

visconti was a socialist tho
