marley is overrated
upbeat stuff like UB40 is fun reggae despite being from birmingham
skip reggae and just start with with dub and dancehall
Ironically, I enjoy 10 Ft. Ganja Plant without weed.
Listen to anyone but Bob Marley

Dub is one of the most influential genres of all time; it was a major inspiration toward gothic rock, hip hop, trip hop, techno, and even ambient. So fuck yeah, reggae is worth getting into.

Here are some essentials. Reggae is an amazing genre and Jamaica as a whole has had such an incredible and underrated influence on the entire modern musical landscape. It's unreal.

my favorite bob marly song is smoke weed every day
My dad spent a week with UB40 during the recording sessions for one of their albums. They invited him along because at one of their gigs, he ended up being pushed onto the stage in a sort of mosh pit, and as he was rising to his feet, the bassist turned and the guitar whacked my dad across the face.
Fun fact of the day.
THEM A LOOT THEM A SHOOT THEM A WAIL
I love them. Not your typical reggae but the best "lazy records" to put on while you're cooking or something.
