marley is overrated

upbeat stuff like UB40 is fun reggae despite being from birmingham

skip reggae and just start with with dub and dancehall

Ironically, I enjoy 10 Ft. Ganja Plant without weed.

Listen to anyone but Bob Marley

reggae is vile

synth is gold here

Plebs who have never heard Stir It Up

true patricians find the gold of every genre...

>reggae for soccer mothers

...

Dub is one of the most influential genres of all time; it was a major inspiration toward gothic rock, hip hop, trip hop, techno, and even ambient. So fuck yeah, reggae is worth getting into.

>british
>prominent during thatherism and widespread unemployment
>industries and unions shut down

couldn't be further from the truth. UB40 are a working man's group

Reggae's great. Marley ain't, though

toots and the maytals

Yeah, just skip the mainstream reggae sluttery

If you want to get into reggae, ska, roksteady listen to the madlibs mixtape, pretty god introduction to reggae

>madlibs
>reggae

Or you know, listen to actual reggae, ska and rocksteady

OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW

Here are some essentials. Reggae is an amazing genre and Jamaica as a whole has had such an incredible and underrated influence on the entire modern musical landscape. It's unreal.

my favorite bob marly song is smoke weed every day

My dad spent a week with UB40 during the recording sessions for one of their albums. They invited him along because at one of their gigs, he ended up being pushed onto the stage in a sort of mosh pit, and as he was rising to his feet, the bassist turned and the guitar whacked my dad across the face.

Fun fact of the day.

THEM A LOOT THEM A SHOOT THEM A WAIL

I love them. Not your typical reggae but the best "lazy records" to put on while you're cooking or something.
