HDR is the real deal, but only if you have a very high end, and expensive patrician level Television.
4K HDR on OLED for example, is truly impressive, with localized and focused highlights for brightness and contrast. The amount of added depth within the image is pretty great. Also, the 4K HDR spec allows for a way more accurate color representation.
