...

is cut the witch their best song?

do i have to be from ohio to understand this band?

cat
there is no best gbv song (it's tractor rape chain)
living in the midwest gives you a really good sense of the environment they were in. It's like really depressing here but you have all the freedom in the world. The Watch Me Jumpstart documentary is really good for that as well.

Alien Lanes is better than Bee Thousand

Bee Thousand = coke
Alien Lanes = cherry coke

both indisputable classics and american treasures, but every real mf knows cherry coke is little better.

Actually Propeller is better than both

superior album coming through

Same Place The Fly Got Smashed is highly underrated.
It's so gloomy, the feels hit me harder than any other gbv album. It's catchy as fuck too, just like their best works.

>gloomy

This got me interested, I will give it a spin

ok Sup Forums, what's your favorite gbv song?
youtube.com/watch?v=5MTzCxFlT8g

youtube.com/watch?v=gB7r6Xo5Vqw

This is the perfect rock song

Indian Fables
youtube.com/watch?v=MawYckU6w5k

This is my second favorite. The transition into Mesh Gear Fox is perfect.

it's like grunge GBV, I think that's how Bob described it himself

SMOTHERED IN HUGS

or

or
youtube.com/watch?v=j2z63598CBY

or dozens of others

Vampire on Titus is their best

They're ok
Xiu Xiu is my favourite band :3

motivational jumpsuit is the best reunion era gbv and im surprised more people haven't realized it and I'm willing to be it wil one day become annoying how much praise this one seemingly random gbv album will get.

Are any of their 2012 onwards albums worth a listen besides that one?

I've seen a lot of mixed reactions to all of them

What's your favorite Tobin track?

youtube.com/watch?v=hM3tZIagviE

My favorite GBV album.

Also, their concert in dallas is on youtube, absolute kino.
One of my favorite concerts of all time, the crowd was getting rowdier and rowdier and by the end there were people crying of joy.

>ywn go to a mid-90s GBV show at a shitty midwest dive bar

feels bad man

>ywn go to an early-80s GBV show at a shitty midwest dive bar
>ywn see bob cleaning the bar after the show is over

Bump

Ok, just moved over from a thread I made.

Where do I go from Bee Thousand?

Specifically, I guess I really like Hardcore UFOs, Tractor Rape Chain. I like the one guy's voice, the one who goes further in his range, the higher voice. I'm not sure who he is, tho.

GBV sucks

Listen to Propeller, Alien Lanes and Under the Bushes Under the Stars

id go under the bushes first, then alien lanes, then propeller

consequenceofsound.net/2015/04/albert-hammond-jr-revisits-guided-by-voices-alien-lanes/
pretty neat interview desu

Cool. Do you know which guy I was talking about?

Also, I guess I should add that I love the shit out of lo-fi music, if that changes anything. My favorite group/project is Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. But like, early APHG, when it sounded like the music was coming from a water-damaged AM radio.

I'm pretty sure it's the main vocalist, Robert Pollard, but Tobin Sprout also sang on many songs, and they were pretty damn good too

These are the indisputable gbv classics If you wanna dig deeper you got vampire on titus, sunfish holy breakfast, isolation drills, do the collapse, fast japanese spin cycle, get out of my stations, mag earwhig, static airplane jive, the list literally goes on. Its a very rewarding discography to dig through

Cool, thanks for the recs. I love me some lo-fi pop music

Is going in dick first, and just listening to GBV chronologically, not recommended?

So is Bee Thousand the ultimate lo-fi album?

That's not an easy question. While I don't think so, I don't know what the best one would be.

I too love Guided By Voices.

Yes, but Love Tara comes close

Fuck it, I'm just gonna go chronologically. Why the hell not?
