Thoughts on the pinkshinyultrablast album from last year? Definitely in my top 5.
It was great. Wouldn't call it genre defining, but definitely a solid album all around.
Between this and the new Kairon; IRSE! release, am I caught up on all the noteworthy genre releases this year?
I love Endlessly so much I'm afraid to listen to the rest of the album and have it be a disappointment.
best of the new shoegaze bands imo. us tour fucking needed
It's good user, just bite the bullet and listen to the whole thing.
whats that album cover? i keep seeing it
Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time
teach a man to fish
I'm actually gay
I'm looking for some uplifting dream pop, do you know any?
i love this album more than my own life. please rec me other bands like candy claws
How about just more Candy Claws
thanks, i've heard their discography already (including sound of ceres) :]
Agreed.

Aoty 2015, super noised out garage pop inspired by evil dead
I've been needing this thread
I've been on a loveliescrushing/Japanese breakfast/astrobrite/westkust kick for the past few weeks. Any one have any recs for me?
Favorite shoegaze album of 2016? Mine was minor victories
I loved everything else matters but thought grandfeathered was a little meh. Was I wrong? Should I give it another listen?
Name of this album? Didn't know kairon released a new album
Same. Closest things I've found are sunny day in Glasgow and loveliescrushing.
Will check out thanks
Best new shugazi was the new Kaion IRSE imo
>grandeur of hair
>african american friend of mine
It's not bad. Not spectacular either. Like a cleaner Whirr
#freewhirr
Essential spring-core shoegaze?
ok i guess it was a mistake to remove lazy legs
for some reason i thought it was released in 2016 but ill fix that
this is a chart to put the best shugazi albums from this year btw. right now it's nowhere near full so ill just put anything in there. over the year we'll refine it and edit it to the point where it ends up actually good
I listened to this so much last spring just remembering songs like Mölkky and Kiddie Pool Dreams makes me think of warm spring breezes and flowering trees. It's not quite spring yet though, but I'm planning on giving this album another spin this year too once it warms up.
Is this the only band that's both shugazi and prog?
tyvm c:
Listen to Westkust - Last Forever
Reminds me of spring (and I think it was released in spring)
...
This Gerogerigegege song kind reminds me of shoegaze
what album can I play while crying about never being a real girl?
Not to say it isn't preferable to name your album pictures
Should probably add
How isn't this getting more attention?
SInister Waters II and Starik are so fucking good.
An album about that topic doesn't exist in /shugazi/ afaik.
I guess you could just listen to some sad shugazi stuff like Frigid Stars or Deathconsciousness
Something happened with whirr aside from the usual shit?
Hope they stick with that sound from the split they did with nothing moving forward.
heh, cheers to both of you
oceansize pulled off some weird mix of shoegaze/math-rock and post-rock really well. especially on their frames album: youtube.com
dig.
yeah, theres a track on their moenai hai (i think it was called) album that was pretty gazey too. tbf a lot of noise music can be shoegaze-esque if you think abt it
im not sure if i know of any shoegaze bands that have lyrical themes abt gender dysphoria and that stuff, id definitely be interested too. there's a bunch of artists of other genres that write about that though like aye nako or lauren bousfield.
also while im still fairly cis (i think...) i deal w wanting to look more feminine or at least androgynous too and ive written some gaze-ish music about it if yr interested; debutantemusic.bandcamp.com
especially on the first ep, although the lyrics there are in german.
aww crap, new Kairon dropped and I forgot to listen!!!
Thank for this thread this is the kind of shit I need on my new SSD
Someone make a top 20 list if possible :>
bruh, your own album can't be AOTY. No one even bought it wth.

new album lmk what yall think!
how the FUCK have I not heard it before
I am in love shit
Just finished listening for the first time, I genuinely think they topped Ujubasajuba
Man I wish I could go back and listen to Ceres and Calypso for the first time. I still love it, but the first time was fucking magical.
...
recc me some Gothgaze/Ethereal Wave
Lycia
Cranes
Cocteau Twins
Stiu nu Stiu
these guys too
Love Spirals Downwards
anyone's got a zippy for new Kairon?
this ain't bad at all.
can a shugazigga get a link for those
...
hey this is pretty alright
...
What genres would you put under the /shugazi/ umbrella? Or is it just a question you have to deal with from album to album?
Whirr wont be making any comeback in the future, they are dead and buried. Nicky has too many projects going besides Nothing rn, and most of the other members have moved on.
t. Insider source
anyone have any essential win-over-girl-core?
this one broad sleeps with me but won't go to dates with me >:(
she likes shoegaze and stuff pls help
what album is this?
>tfw no qt wife to make shoegaze with
i really really really hate seeing their live version of into deep time. specifically when they smiled to each other in the end.
fucking hell it's too much feels for me.
See

Get lynched, Buster.
What does /shugazi/ think of Diiv?
Just finished listening to Oshin for the first time in a while and it was better than I remember.
>Tfw large and muscular but all I've ever wanted to be was petite and cute.
i laughed user
good one
>Kairon, IRSE! - Ruination
mega.nz
They're aight but I prefer Wild Nothing when it comes to that sound
Also I don't like the singer's weird obsession with Cobain but that doesn't affect the music
I like this.
alright did i miss anything
the lazy legs thing
is pretty cool
I prefer this one in the summer
>pic related Adelaida - Monolito
Good shoegaze record by a Chilean band. I think it's the most true Shoegaze Chilean band, because the singer has great influences, in contrast of other Chilean artists. Enjoy.
What are some examples of Noise Pop?
I dig it
Jesus and Mary Chain, Sleigh Bells, Mercury Rev, and early Flaming Lips come to mind.
THE ONLY SHOEGAZE ALBUM THAT MATTERS
To my ear, Melody's Echo Chamber is pretty similar in terms of the melodies and vocals - just without the crushed lo-fi sound.
Dream Pop, Shoegaze, Blackgaze, Noise Pop, some Lo-fi, some Bedroom Pop, some Noise Rock.
Here's a list of things tagged "shoegaze" on Apollo, released this year so far. May or may not be entirely accurate.
Heat - Overnight
Silver Shadows - Cold Plastic
Spacedot - Moongazer
Jonas Munk & Ulrich Schnauss - Passage
Ayges - Consciously Still
Ersatz Window - Boxing 14-15
No Sun - If Only
tamagotoji - Phrase Underwater
......... - Shuwa Shuwa
Super Magnet - Cosmodrome
Golden Fable - In the Aerie
Tears Run Rings - In Surges Remix EP
Io Audio Recordings - 2016
some slowcore too
Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Blackgaze, Noise Pop, Ambient Pop, Slowcore, and SOME Noise Rock
Lo-Fi is a production style, not a genre.
And some wall noise too
*lo-fi indie
certain guitar-based ambient or noise too
that idol shoegaze
youtube.com
Stuff like Grouper, Codeine, and Lake of Burning Orchids are /shugazi/
that dosnt seem very "nosey"
Could that one song from the new Gerogerigegege be considered /shugazi/?
