If the cubs make it to the world series it's not a complete failure. I mean they haven't done that since what, the 40s? Baby steps I guess. If they lose in the ds or cs however that will be fucking hilarious.
Dylan Nguyen
How jealous is /mlb/ of our team?
Levi Hill
>908 fucking pottery holy shit
Oliver Miller
1945 was their last pennant. They have 16 pennants btw, people don't understand that the Cusb used to be a scary ass team.
Lincoln Parker
considering theres been like 10 teams since 1908 that have become expansion franchises, made the world series, and several times won the world series. Not at all.
Samuel Brown
...
Christopher Thomas
Not jealous at all. Good for the Cubs that they're having a good year though.
Julian Thomas
I'll be jealous when they actually achieve something.
Elijah Perez
Not jealous. We've won since 1908. Great for mlb that the Cubs aren't a dumpster fire.
Levi Martinez
Which team do you play for, bong?
Christian Reyes
maybe because no one on this board was alive to see a single one of these pennants so it's completely irrelevant?
Carter Fisher
>Victor Martinez is now 19-39 (.487) vs Chris Sale
Luke Jones
Right, but I don't think people understand that they Cubs weren't always giant failures.
Caleb Perez
Not always yeah, but that's like expecting someone to be respectful of the Browns as a franchise because they dominated before man walked on the moon In everyone's memory the Browns have nearly always been bad, same for the Cubs
Luis Butler
user they haven't won a pennant in over 70 years. That's pretty big failure to me. What they did before world war 2 is meaningless because not even our parents were around to see it.
Nathan Morgan
>You forgot absolute shit tier roads
Texas roads are in pretty good shape overall compared to a lot of northern states. Our highways and interstates have a much better surface condition than most states that get a real winter. Their layout in the cities could use some serious help though, I'll give you that much.
Owen Lee
My comment was just stating that if you were to go back to pre-1940 America people would comment on how consistently good the Cubs were, which is way way removed from the modern perception of the team. It's just interesting. I never said you have to respect the Cubs (why would you? they've been trash for 70 years) or that it is particularly relevant or important, just interesting to think about.
Michael Collins
Kate Upton vs Edward Scissorhands
Jackson Martinez
I've gotten 5 (you)s today. How many have you gotten /mlb/?
Asher Edwards
>people don't understand that the Cusb used to be a scary ass team
Yeah, most baseball fans do because they're one of the most circle-jerked franchises in all of sports. It's just completely irrelevant now because it was 70 fucking years ago
Christopher Powell
Yeah, for being losers, retard.
Ethan Bailey
People tend to forget/die after 70 years
Jeremiah Lopez
Right, which makes sense, it is just interesting to think that at one point the Cubs were very respected
Justin Green
Who's the best guy in the draft?
David Cruz
No, the franchise, especially the early days, are one of the most written about teams in sports dipshit
Brandon Martinez
>implying the average person reads that shit Suck a dick faggot. Most fans would have a vague idea about the past but not much real substance.
Brandon Torres
Not every baseball fan is a mouth breathing retard like you though. Some people actually know about baseball history believe it or not
Cooper Gray
>some That's exactly my point you ignoramus, most fans don't really know anything besides >le 1908, le 100 years of losing meme
Isaac Martinez
Okay, but sports writers have still written more about the early 20th century Cubs than all other teams not named the Yankees and Red Sox combined. Doesn't matter what the average retard thinks. Most couldn't even tell you what was happening in baseball 25 years ago
Elijah Lee
Jesus Christ my entire point is about the average fan, user.
Jaxon Evans
Yeah, but the average "fan" doesn't know anything
