because to conservatives (or at least most people that align with the Republican party) art is a waste of money

Oh for fuck sakes can we go ONE god damn day without a political thread? One day?

I just wanna talk music and people always have to pull in fucking politics and I'm sick of it.

Fucking. HErbie. Bitches.

youtube.com/watch?v=DgwuFQSCORY

>art is a waste of money
That's such an oxymoron I don't even know how this people function.

I haven't been in Sup Forums for six months my man but I'm so baffled at this man stupidity I had to come here and talk about it. I need to restore my faith in patricianship.

OP is a cock smoking faggot.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=dTZaNQkrpJs

>2017
>not being religious

There's a difference between not wanting to spend public money on art subsidies and thinking art is a waste of money

i'd love to know what they think is good art

paintings of money or something

easy. OP.

We let the liberals waste their lives toiling away at art, while doing actual STEM jobs, running the country, etc. and reap their efforts afterward

Low level manufacturing jobs = STEM

Fucking kek

You're talking about the old comservatives.
Today's conservative movement are something completely different.

Today's conservatives want to defund the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endownment for the Humanities.

and yet you're here with the rest of us!

seriously everybody is so trash. cant we just find middle ground and be respectful to eachother?

Recently the fellows at both Sup Forums and the SJW places learned that there is a "argument to moderation" fallacy and ever since then whenever anybody offers common ground they start memeing like a bunch of chimps, since they clearly don't really understand the idea behind fallacies.

go back to your containment board please

Who do you think would be the rightful inheritor of the Herblosiphers Legacy?
Another thread mentioned Thundercat but he hasn't really done enough for me to agree yet.

Greatest classical composers were all Christian or Jewish

Conservatives gave us Sisteen Chapel
Liberals gave us Pisschrist

That doesn't mean they're conservative, and yeah, duh, for much of the past 2000 years it was basically illegal to not be Christian in most of the western world.

The neonazi freakshow on 8/pol/ take it a step further. They believe unless it promotes conservative morality, it does not even qualify as art.

I'm a conservative :)

And yet, under socialism, art is suppressed or reduced to a tool of political propaganda like schlocky paintings of Lenin or muscled factory workers.

>implying half of the Vatican didn't shit themselves when they say a evil penis
>implying Michelangelo didn't turn the classical art world on its head
>implying they didn't paint over all the genitalia the second Michelangelo died

>STEM
>cuckservative

It ain't liberal either, the STEM scene is constantly living in some crazed delusion that the world would be better off if everyone let them rule it.

the right are no more christian than they are conservative

jesus favoured the weak and needy, and conservation has been removed from the 'conservative' agenda for decades

what you have now is just pure evil, satan incarnate

It's like that under every extreme system of government.

Are you god damn implying that someone will be able to fill the shoes of my sweet sweet savior Hancock?

You disgust me. When Herbie has passed into the cosmos there will be no more. Just the ghost of a former living legacy.

>A world based on logical, calculated decisions that aren't made just to satisfy some stupid personal belief

Yeah sounds awful (no it doesn't)

the alt-right is literally nu-fedora.
the faux 'absolute objectivity and stone cold rationality' mixed with their scapegoating of women and minorities for their own social ineptitude is all there.
they just got tired of being pushed around and warped into a pure mass of anger.

music selections probably stayed the same including 'epic' movie soundtracks, whatever EDM shit plays between video game competitions, and edgelord musicians they live vicariously through

t.conservative pissed because the best artists are left-wing

kek that's a good one

Shit apples don't fall far from the shit apple tree ricky

>It's Pepe, it's become a sort of symb-

>Implying being a conservatist automatically means you're christian
Preserving cultural traditions is not the same as preserving fundemental religious teachings
You can be both atheist and hold on conservative values

this

Keep crying

It isn't art. It's propaganda.

>fundamentalist religious teachings
ftfy

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Socialism, is in fact, Statist Communism, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Communism plus Statism. Communism is not a bureaucratic system unto itself, but rather another ideology of a fully functioning political system made useful to the working class, proletariat and vital leadership comprising a full economy as defined by MARX.

Many countries run a modified version of the socialist system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of socialism which is widely used today is often called communism, and many of its beneficiaries are not aware that it is basically the socialist system, developed by the needs of the citizens.

There really is a communism, and there are people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Communism is the kernel: the idea in the system that allocates the economy's resources to the people who need them. The kernel is an essential part of an political system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete political system. Communism is normally used in combination with the Statist political system: the whole system is basically Statism with Communism added, or Statist Communism. All the so-called Communist distributions are really distributions of Socialism!

Kek, found the deluded alt-righter.

I'm a STEM student right now and I'm liberal, and literally everyone I've met in the faculty is liberal. Furthermore, in the summer I play solo music in small clubs around my city for fun. If you think STEM is "red pilled" because it has the largest amount of intelligent people, then I'm sorry to ruin your fantasy but that's simply inaccurate. In engineering which is what I'm studying rn, there is a high demand for creative thinking that I find extremely similar to the process of writing music.

It's a right brain/left brain type of thing.

People who are more logical and factual and less emotional and creative are more likely to be Republican

People who are more emotional and creative and less logical and factual are more likely to be Democrat.

Political leanings are pretty much a personality type anyways.

I will have you know Herbie BEYOND all politics.

He invented them and then threw them out the window, letting the people below decide what to do with them.

Also: Still noticing politics.
Tsktsktsk.

Imma have to fix this.

tldr. nazis were communists

then how do you account for the right's inability to think scientifically about (say) climate change?
or sociology, or fucking anything that isn't business

The whole M.O. of being conservative is to play things safe and never explore new ideas. How the hell do you think something like that would help in either interpreting or creating art? Art as a medium of expression/impression is a purely liberal thing. The only time a sense of conservatism hits art is when it gets turned into a commodity.

While there are many liberal people that lack empathy (the very hard left comes into mind), as a whole, the right wing/conservatives are also far less empathetic usually due to their lack of exposure to the "boogeymen" they shit talk all the time.

Take these two into account, and you realize that art is the antithesis of the conservative.

>he doesn't get his meems from Sup Forums

DID I! HEAR! THE WORDS!

HERBIE! TOP! 10??

No? Well I did now....

But logic and facts are literally counter to conservative thought.

Most STEM people are boring and uncultured, yet they can't help watching television shows that art and film students create. Sad!

He's gotta pass the torch, man.
The Funk cannot die.

>boogeyman
The only man truly worth that name.

>People who are more logical and factual and less emotional and creative are more likely to be Republican
>People who are more emotional and creative and less logical and factual are more likely to be Democrat.

The problem is that all the brains are processed through the marxism factories called colleges/universities

Trump is onto this shit though, which is why he's gonna defund the liberal UCs and employ Devos to dismantle the Education Department.

They really need to clean house.

>source: my ass

>climate change

climate change IS a business kid

Because art becoming a thing the average person could do killed it; it was better when the only artists spent their whole lives training to become one as a real career instead of it being a thing any moron could do for fun. Conservatives are smart enough to see that modern art is a sham that is only good for money laundering and keeping the idiotic masses entertained. Instead of wasting their time and money on instruments, easels, etc. conservatives know they should be investing in their retirement and ways to get some passive income and financial income (which is why artists are always fucked whenever a recession or period of instability occurs while conservatives always come out stronger).

Today's conservative movement is somehow even more doughy and virginal

if you think opec cashing in is cool then good for you champ

OH SHIT WE BOUT TO BOOGEY!

Should I do top 10 albums or songs?

Songs, I think.

i also vvatch the noodle drip :DDD

t. nu-male feminist cuck

Yeah but everyone had to be christian then, if you weren't you were killed, also they molested choir boys

>Marxist propaganda
>"Art"

le mao

Do you also think Soviet posters are art?

t. triggered Sup Forumsack

Yeah, no

>less logical and factual

True. If kids don't eat their veggies, they'll have to sit through the torture of listening to nothing but Herbie Hancock for the rest of their lives.

At #10 we have "Calypso" off of the album Mr. Hands.

This album was Herbie's temporary return to Jazz Fusion after starting off his disco phase in late 1979. The last of his fusion albums, this album was a great blend of new 80s sounding keyboards and the fun dance-able style he's had in the past.

It's a nice song off a beautifully vintage sounding album.
youtube.com/watch?v=SIDdxstd9sI

i hope you're finishing this, i wanted to get into herbie but never knew where to start

Vincent Gallo is staunchly conservative and has made arguably good art in like every medium. Was in a no wave band with Basquiat too.

Hmm... You seem to be saying that simply because Renaissance artists were religious means they would be a conservative in modern times. You're applying the modern definition fucking to 500 years ago lmao. Liberals can be religious too also

go back to shit posting on Sup Forums faggot

At #9 is the song "Hang Up Your Hang Ups", the opening track to the 1975 album "Man Child"

This track was part of a long series of Herbie's Jazz Funk style, which would by far be his most popular (containing the albums Fat Albert Rotunda, HeadHunters, Thrust, Directstep, and Mr. Hands).

This album's standing out factor is the more prominent use of guitar that wasn't found on the 3 LPs before this, done by Dewayne McKnight, David T. Walker, and 'Wah Wah' Watson, and it's shown right from the opening track's intense riff, followed by it's rich brass section and tight drums throughout.

STEM here. If you can't into art and study STEM simultaneously you're probably a retard.

I am on Sup Forums, silly goosey.

See here.
play.spotify.com/user/1232993342/playlist/32BhYzTCafTMl61vrxn2B8

(But yes I will be doing the other top songs, so stay tuned)

That's literally not true, you retard.

Most """""alt-right""""" people think art is an important part of culture
It's the "woke menstrual blood paintings of Donald Trump" side of art they think should be left behind.

Why are Liberals so close-minded? Why do they live in their own bubble and lack self awareness?

That's definitely not a trait that's exclusive to liberals

Please refer to OP

Gimme your spaciest trap beats

It's only natural that educated people will be drawn into the ideas of Marxism. Marx was literally right about everything. Eventually capitalism will collapse, much like mercantilism and feudalism did. The people will rise up and seize the means of production.

Think about this: We could be living in a luxurious transhumanist socialist society. We already have the technology to begin automatizing most of our industries. We will develop sustainable societies with biospheres and greenhouses that allow us to develop in harmony with nature. With all of that extra free time, we will be able to evolve into more cultured, more intelligent, and more powerful than ever before. We will solve the problems of global warming, world hunger, and eventually begin settling the stars, and eventually hooking up with space babes from outer space.

but dude
i'm just so rational and nuanced that all liberals are the same
i'm a special snowflake and you're just a cuck!

That doesn't refute my point at all

At #8 is the piece 'Joanne's Theme', on the 1974 sound track album "Death Wish".

The soundtrack Death Wish (from the film of the same name) was a short break from the intense, dance heavy funk albums he released earlier in the decade, showing a smoother R&B toned style of Herbie's music. And to make the composition even richer, a new addition was added to Herbie's music, a full orchestra. The beautiful strings throughout along with Herbie's intense improvisation on the keys make for a fantastic piece and definitely the biggest highlight on the album.

Because you weren't aware that the vast majority of the art commissioned up until about 150 years ago was liturgical or religious in nature?

But im a conservative and I love music including the modern type paul claims to hate. What do?

To you and people with a similarly shallow perception of "art," "art" is rarely anything more than unrefined self-expression.

Music is "art" when it expresses formless catharsis.
Cinema is "art" when it eschews editing and narrative.
Games are "art" when they have no objectives.
etc.

It's easy to see why somebody who values restraint might be turned off by this.

You didn't have a point to begin with.

Richard Spencer was a theater major
and it shows.

A civilization without culture is a world not worth living in

awesome thanks

Maybe you missed it. See

you can appreciate art while being in STEM you literal retard, you're probably either an autist or a first year 2.5 GPA having fag with a superiority complex

cringe

At #7, the track "Mimosa" of the album "Inventions and Dimensions"

The album Inventions stands out among his other Blue Note records because this album included the use of latin percussion for the rhythmic section (bongos, timbales, cabasas, etc). On the track mimosa, the most prominent features are the soft but catchy bongo line, a quiet bass, and of course Herbie's fantastic improvising on the piano to make a smooth, latin flavored song perfect for slow dancing with a lover.
youtube.com/watch?v=foKJIgqp7ag

trades run the country not STEM you idiot

I never claimed it was a trait exclusive to liberals, merely that it is an increasingly common trait among liberals who vent on the internet. Now, stop embarrassing yourself with baseless "points".

>for much of the past 2000 years it was basically illegal to not be Christian in most of the western world.
NO IT WAS NOT, it was just looked down on

You could've just said you agree. Are you autistic or something?

You.

ALL I NEED ARE MY GOD, GUNS AND GRITS!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAW PATNA
