Name one musical trilogy where the third album is the best one out of the three

Name one musical trilogy where the third album is the best one out of the three

Neil Young's ditch trilogy

Which is the "ditch" trilogy? He's had a few trilogy of albums that go great together.

Time Fades Away
Tonight's the Night
On the Beach

Bringing it All Back Home - Highway 61 Revisited - Blonde on Blonde

On the Beach is the best and that came out before Tonights the Night.

Don't agree, I think The Glowing Man isn't the least best out of the three

The Seer>To Be Kind>The Glowing Man

Smiley Smile - Wild Honey - Friends

Tilt-The Drift-Bisch Bosch
The final track on Bisch Bosch still sends shivers down my spine after what must be twenty listens

You're wrong, you know.

this guy fucks

For their pre-1969 albums:
>My Generation
>A Quick One
>The Who Sell Out

This user knows (dad)rock well.

Damn, good answer. Even if I think Tago is a strong second.

It was recorded after tonight's the night tho, so it could be considered the last depending on how you think of it

Wrong

My Beautiful Dark OK Computer - The Yeendzus - The Life of Pablo Honey

Are Tommy and Quadrophenia (and for that matter Sell Out too) any different to Who's Next? I want to give The Who a new chance since Live at Leeds had some charm, but WN sucked ass.

>Computer World the best
>not Trans-Europa Express
holy shit Europa Endlos ALONE puts it above the others

this and king crimson's mid 70s trilogy

Who's Next is widely considered to be babby's first Who album. It has 3 of the greatest rock songs of all time (Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again) and a lot of filler bullshit in-between.
It was originally intended to be a far grander project, titled Lifehouse, that would tell a whole story, but that was mostly scrapped and recycled into Who's Next (Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Going Mobile, and Won't Get Fooled Again were all written for Lifehouse). It's actually very interesting to read about - check out the Lifehouse project on Wikipedia. Another example of a song like that is actually I'm a Boy - it is set in a future where parents, instead of giving birth, can simply "order" a child, so two parents order four girls, but due to a mishap, one of them (the protagonist) is a boy, so they force him to dress up as and act like a girl.
Tommy and Quadrophenia are "rock operas" and, instead of being straightforward albums with two or three hit singles like WN, actually tell a complete story and are much like a musical you'd see live - they've got overtures, cohesive plots, climaxes, and so on and so forth. They're excellent and I highly recommend them.
You asked about TWSO as well. It's my favorite album of all time and I recommend listening to it before Tommy and Quadro to better appreciate them - you'll recognize a few melodies that Townshend reused. There's lots of different versions for some reason, but the original album ended on Rael (1 and 2). I still highly recommend listening to the extras if the copy you download/stream comes with them, as it's a relatively short album (only 38 minutes long in contrast to WN's 43, Tommy's 75, and Quadrophenia's 81) and all the cut content is extremely good (see In the Hall of the Mountain King, Melancholia, Early Morning Cold Taxi, Jaguar).
Excuse my sperging, but I just fucking love The Who Sell Out so much.

Atrocity Exhibition -> XXX -> Old

Nirvana's

Fair enough.
While I still have a (You) to give, let me lay out my personal tiering for the Who's albums:

>The Who Sell Out
>Quadrophenia
>Live at Leeds
>Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy
>Tommy
>A Quick One
>My Generation
>Who's Next
>Who Are You
Nothing without Moon counts.

I haven't listened to post-moon albums, but I enjoy Eminence front and a really like You Better You Bet. Is this a one-good-song-filler-crap-otherwise situation?

wrong bleach is the best

No One Gets Lost Anymore/Sunshine & Technology/Throw Me In the River

Yep. Daltrey himself said that Eminence Front was the only part of It's Hard that was worth releasing.

its pretty fucking close but Starless is one of the greatest all time songs so it gets the edge

I will never understand why Neil disowned Time Fades Away, that album's killer.

trips (triple 3's no less) cannot lie. PW confirmed GOAT AnCo album, and by extension, the 2016 AOTY

Came to post this. it's the perfect trilogy.

That's called the triptych, and nah bro, I think Antichrist Superstar edges out Holy Wood. Both are better than Mechanical Animals tho.

It Was Hot
The Glow pt.2
Mount Eerie

If you move it back to be Ok Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, then it's correct because Amnesiac is the best Radiohead album.

ITT: people who don't comprehend the idea of a "trilogy"

How the fuck is the Berlin Trilogy not a trilogy?

No

I won't

ITT = in this thread
not referring to OP specifically

agreed

This nigga knows what's up

Not him, but I can see the appeal behind Computer World. I like it a lot too.

The Original Cure Trilogy

17 Seconds
Faith
Pornography

this so fucking much. Mt. Eerie is probably the best album ever created. it still amazes me that something as amazing as that could be conceived by mortal men.

Darkthrone's Unholy Trilogy

MGS 1 soundtrack - MGS 2 soundtrack - MGS 3 soundtrack

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

>Both are better than Mechanical Animals tho.

So what, any three albums in a row make a trilogy? They don't need ANY thematic or contextual link?

No trilogy

House of Balloons

Echoes of Silence

This.

This thread is full or retards. 11 is probably the average age.
