El Sur

I watched all of them. It becomes a slog to get through the later ones. The formula is almost the same every single episode, but it's always entertaining. Watch the first three,, or at least the first one. Its cinematography his heavily influenced by Yojimbo, and Zatoichi is such a great character. 1, 8, 12, 13, and 17 were all great. I think there's only one episode that needs you to watch an earlier episode to understand it. Most can be watched randomly, but I'd still try and watch chronologically.

el sur isn't on criterion :(

Ah yes, Touch of Evil is my favorite Criterion

Thy did a lot of work restoring it

no they didn't

its on hulu, they worked on it and put it on there, just no dvd/br

$20 new Barnes and noble sale like 3 times a year. Used anywhere all year. Go to your local video store too.

Saw Shoah blu Ray set for 40 bucks at mine. Didn't get it because I was steady getting too much sadly.

just a heads up, my friendo. hulu is going to lose the criterion collection after this summer. they're partnering up with turner classic movies to create their own streaming service called filmstruck.

that sounds like the most boring streaming service ever lol

This is bait but I'm responding because you triggered me pretty good, son.

...

that isn't criterion

Fuck off

found the sheep

The Great Beauty is my favorite film

I like putting the discs in my blu Ray player and having nice collection shelves. You don't. Ok.

Best list. nice taste

>i like buying pieces of plastic to put on my shelf because i'm a consumerist sheep who doesn't really care about art xD

Damn shit indeed

>Supporting an artist means you don't give a shit about art

>continuously feeding a troll

>implying loving pieces of plastic isn't art

Seriously though I love this film

yeah bro! good job supporting kurosawa who's been dead for decades!

What about all the directors that aren't dead?

I bet you read ebooks.

>i take pride in cutting down trees and having a cumbersome collection of dead trees that i can't carry around all together because i dream of a cute girl asking about the book im reading one day

just start with Akira Kurosawa's disco, senpai

I bet you think you're less of a fag than me too.

This is essential Criterion viewing.

two lane blacktop

(lesser known criterion)

I should submit an idea to WatchMojo. Top 10 Movies that star Musicians. This one with James Taylor, Down by Law with Tom Waits, what are others?

I don't play video games. I do watch movies that aren't shit though

Personal favorites from the Criterion Collection

Also, when I had it, all the James Bond movies were on Hulu. I only got to marathon up to On Her Majesty's Silver Surface before my roommate left and took his account with him. Check 'em out.

how do you know those movies are shit if you havent seen them?

I have seen them

Valerie and Her Week of Wonders? Why not Alice in the Cities with the naked 6-year-old?

Yeah, I really enjoyed his work. BatB is lovely, Orpheus is absolutely singular. Surreal, maudlin. I enjoyed the Blood of a Poet as well but still need to close the trilogy out.

As part of the Ray box set.
