Is "electronic" a genre?
Is "electronic" a genre?

yes
electronic music is EDM/IDM
>caring about genres
>I only listen to one style and have less than 150gb of music
electronic is as much of a genre as piano music is a genre.
*and hip hop
Solo piano music is a genre within the art music umbrella
so if I don't care about naming the hundreds of thousands styles of music it means I have a small collection...?
btw I have listened to more music than you, that's why I can say that classifying is stupid
you're still a baby who needs to be guided if you want to explore music
sad
Post library screenshot, last.fm or RYM
and then you'll be a smartass and post a "bigger" one
but ok I'll play this is my lastfm
last.fm
Surprised you are this passionate about it Acre2000
I'm in a bad mood
I've been falling for obvious baits and fighting people all over the board today
desu I'll take a pill and rest
you can claim your victory now
Yes it's a very broad blanket term though
The fact that you can say "electronic music" and most people picture EDM means it's stylistically homogenous enough to be called a genre, which is dumb. It should be a medium, no more specific of a term than "acoustic."
Which is to say people need to make more diverse shit instead of trying to be Pegboard Nerds or whatever the kids are into these days.
In the same way "classical" music
is a "genre".
>90s mariah carey
gets me hard every time
is "analog"?
What about synthwave and futurepop? The're not any sort of a DM
More like BM amirite
i guess; you can use it to classify music made digitally, but that would be incredibly broad these days
it used to be used to classify stuff like tangerine dream
now they have EDM, synthpop, etc.
Only normies do that.
yeah that says more about the current place of electronic music in society than it does the music itself.
