Tfw ontario might be implementing a basic income of 22k a year

>tfw ontario might be implementing a basic income of 22k a year
>tfw I work full time and only make 18k a year
>tfw I'll finally be able to eat proper food

Any other ontariofags excited about this possible basic income change?

I'd consider moving there from Alberta to leech if they introduced this

Which is part of the reason that it's such a terrible idea

Canada seems much better than America. I wonder if I can move there? I'm in Alaska so its a short trip

For people like you who work a job it's a good idea but for welfare bums and disability bums it's a horrible idea

This country is horrible for paying people who work full time such a low wage that they can't afford basic necessities to have any quality of life. I worked in a factory for 3 years and everyone there was on the verge of homelessness despite working 45 hours a week

Ontario is broke and this is what wynnebag comes up with, I miss Harris

>22k a year
>lmao
That's still absolutely nothing

It's a hell of a lot to me when I'm busting my ass to make 18k a year. 4k more makes it a whole different life

Let's give the people who choose not to work because they're lazy 3rd generation welfare recipients another reason not to fucking work.

Fuck this plan.

They shouldn't be giving it to people who don't work. They should be giving it to people like me who work full time and still don't make 22k a year

just get a better job

Shut up

Then only jobs I can get around here pay around the same wage

>just get a better job

this strawman is literally a kick in the balls.

>implying they would let an albertan who doesnt pay ontarian taxes use this program

stay in alberta bro

Not at all. I'm a full time student from an upper class family and I would totally support this. Life should not be about slaving away at a shitty job you hate to barely get by. With the introduction of robotic taking over much of menial industry jobs in the future this will absolutely be necessary.

>implying 22k a year is a lot

You don't need a passport to travel between provinces. An Albertan today can be an Ontarioan tomorrow.

Fucking peasant. I'm fucking sick of getting taxed damn near %40 on my cheques so I can help out lazy underachievers and immigrants in this country. Go get an education and earn your own fucking money.

I'm not implying that at all. 22k is not much but it is definitely enough to have a roof over your head and other basic necessities. You won't be buying luxury items but you won't need to slave away and be depressed.

I get taxed out the ass as well and I make fuck all, they take almost a quarter of my pay, try making 480 before taxes and ending up with 375 each week

So Ontario job situation is that bad huh

I don't see how this will change anything unless you live in the middle of nowhere. What will happen in the larger cities, GTA/Ottawa/Hamilton and such would mean that companies would have to increase prices on their goods for the increase in salary.

You should look into Universal Basic Income dude, it's actually a great idea.

except that ontario is on the side of the country,

Nah the jobs just pay so little that people can't eat properly therfore they're in the hospital taking up even more tax dollars than what giving everyone 22k would be

That's literally why they are thinking of making the basic living income

>being this fucking dumb

gtfo of ontario

I am a student who is in hopes of part time jobs coming to Ontario. Would you advice me to come or nah

Also the severe mental issues that come along with always stressing out about money means less people in psychology wards using up more tax dollars

Yeah, Qc here...I'm around 43% with this fucking bullshit province and the generational welfare attitude.

I live in ontario and have not had a job for 5 years.

You're just in a shit line of work, get away from the shit retail jobs.

Ontario doesn't tax 40%, heck the highest tax rate is 33% and that's if you're making over 200,000 a year

PROTIP from a guy who makes more a month than you do a year. Leave canada. Best decision i made. SO many more opportunities in L.A or New York. Trust me

How the fuck do you survive and what part on Ontario

Are you guys retarded or what?

I live in Ontario, tell me how you are going to apply for your free 22k when you have zero proof of ontario taxes being paid, zero proof of prior residency, zero proof of employment, and zero proof of anything else tied to Ontario.

>idk what kind of mickey mouse provinces you faggots are from, but over here we have technology and money and we arent in the 1970s lmao

My wife is a dental assistant, and was in brantford now in woodstock

With federal tax I'm pretty much at 50%, gross of 130k in Sask.

>tfw u make 6 figures and it's still hard to buy a decent truck

Did you not get a job or do you not want to work because i am coming to Hamilton i am shit scared i won't get jobs now

>move there
>provide proof of residency

I'm from Alberta and when I bust my ass for 70 hours a week. I get taxed probably more than you would make in a month and it's sickening. There's not incentive to work hard in this country anymore. The more i make, the more I get taxed and I'm still left with the same amount in my account at the end of the year.

Do you plains fags file 2 tax returns too? I thought us Quefags were the only ones.

Working in the west coming from the east I've come to realize a sad fact about the western Canada dream: I'm taxed more in the west than I made gross in the east.

Had a job, suffered from anxiety and depression, makes it hard for me to look for a job.

>being naive enough to believe a non-ontarian would be eligible for the goods
>kek

if your records from the past few years aren't in order you can't even get a health card in Ontario, you need to prove you have paid taxes, live here, worked here, and intend to be here for YEARS, no joke, to get your health card for free health care.

>Believing you can waltz in to glorious Ontario without having paid your dues

live here for ~4-5 years THEN they will accept your proof of residency alone, then work for that same amoun of years and pay taxes to the ont govt for that same amount of years...

then maybe, lol.

You're the problem. Little whiny faggots that should die off a la Darwinism. It's called living, and every single person in the world can manage to do it, so why can't you? Quit being a leach

It's nice that you assume that you make so much more then i, and welcome to a socialist democracy? Getting heavily taxed for doing a shit ton of overtime isn't so much a negative for the employee but more so for the employer. Mainly so they hire others to fill in those hours.

Bullshit I got it in a week.

So thats it. You gave me shocks thought i would never get a job there

Well, I guess only time will tell if this system can be gamed, or if they are infallible. We'll see.

Nope I only do one a year.

I don't give a shit. I make 55k a year.

>bullshit I got it in a week

mb the guy behind the counter thought you were cute, idk, that being said you DO need to provide all of those pieces of evidence to get your shit renewed... even as a lifelong ontarian.

Imagining anyone could walk in and get 22k no problem is laughable

Definitely not infallible, of course not, but probably not just as easy as "Hey I am here!"

At least I'm not leaching of the gov, moron. My wife goes to work while i sit at home and game, you mad bro? Lol

Anyone around Hamilton? whats the place like for partying or clubs etc

I made 156k last year. I might be lucky to see 100k this year because of the slump in oil and I'm willing to bet I won't clear 100k ever again in Alberta thanks to the NDP plan to piss away our resources and pay other provinces to supply our energy. So you know what? Fuck it. I'm going to go on welfare. I've worked enough in this life and I'm "sad" and "depressed"

Well that and the city in live in there are no jobs, I've applied

Getting a job in Ontario for 22k isnt hard if you know who to blow fagget.

I could go there right now and do 100k. I just don't wanna be working with family.

If u have noone in that province ur a stray dog in china town. So unlike Sask where I had everything done the next morning and got eligible for a 10k tax break for professional retention even if I didn't train there.

So is it a top up scheme? So you work for your $18k then they sauce you an extra $4000?

>At least I'm not leaching of the gov, moron.
Leeching off the government would be much more respectable than leeching off your wife.

Moved here three months ago.

Hess Village is usually a shit show of university kids, but usually good on weeknights. Places like the Lazy Flamingo, Lou Dawg's, etc. James North is where all the sick bars are like the Brain, This Aint Hollywood and such. Art crawls are mad fun too.

>be op
>from Ontario
>"man i would really like to make more money, but im a lazy fuck."
>"we'll make a basic income of 22k"
>ohsweetdiddlyfuck.eh
>prices of everything increases
>back to square one

You wanna get more money, go work for it Sup Forumsud. Minimum wage is not meant nor was it ever designed to make a living. Don't have credentials to work an actual job? Find out what you need to start to get them.

>deal with it

Is Prostitution and Weed legal or illegal in Ontario

thats good money bro, what are you complaining about

you are crying at making 150k, and then being taxed, idk, a lot of shit is provided for you by the govt, and being taxed that much isnt that fucking unusual if you look around the world, you are a top earner lol..

Everyone just wants more more more, if you really did make 156k you basically make more money than most couples I know in Toronto

>enjoy your opportunity, you are lucky, not a victim

You're fucking lucky. Filing 2 returns is a pain in the ass, and our lovely provincial sales tax (which btw is applied to the gst!)

...

my ex is from onterio. toronto is a shithole

JUST FUCKING LEAVE CANADA. MUCH EASIER TO MAKE MONEY IN AMERICA

Mate i am German. Talk to me like am European and not Canadian

thats big talk from a kid who's been living off our oil revenue

I would if I was smart enough to get a real job, they should make every job a livable wage instead of having people here living off of rice and potatoes

This guy gets it.

THIS

That guys rich as fuck, I make 35k and live just fine

Ontario has more debt than any of state or province in North America. How the fuck does that idiot Wynne think this is good idea?

>Make every job a liveable wage

Before I imply anything, could you clarify what you mean by that?

this

Agreed, unless she's fucking loaded.

Because the cost of living is outrageous here. An average 30 year old house that needs updates is 500k. My mortgage is 2400 a month. And now Trudeau wants to bring in even more skilled migrants to keep chipping away at the middle class income. It's a fucking nosedive to the bottom from here on out.

Ok, you do make more then i, last year i cleared 80k, working 40 hours a week.

Obvious troll is obvious

prostitution operates in semi-legal grey area in pretty much every province

Weed isn't legal in Canada, but Trudeau campaigned on the promise that he would legalize it, so it should be coming one day

What's hard to understand? Hess village is good on week nights, avoid weekends. James North has a bunch of cool bars. Art crawl is a monthly event of artisan vendors on James North.

As for actual clubs that thump 128 BPM all night I guess people like to go to Absynth on King William.

An average detached house in toronto is close/if not a million, try cry/harder.

Would you call it a happening City on what scale of 0-10?

As of now i don't have a car there so is the public transport good enough?

This is why I didn't go to the patch.
Now SK is being run over by rig pigs with big truck payments and a meth addiction.

I mean the housing market is fucked, I live in Toronto, Im 25 and I fucking have no idea how I am going to ever (literally) afford to buy a house in Toronto, they all start at like 600k for literally 60 year old shit houses, I feel your pain man to a certain degree.

All I am saying is, I could make a living off of 156k living in downtown Toronto for myself.

Semi-detached houses anywhere within a 25m drive downtown, $1million+, and now consider that the avg person makes like 40-50k a year in Toronto

>once again you are blessed and you make good money

I agree with you myself. I do well at 96k with a fed gov job. But seeing half go in taxes(and benefits) is fucking depressing. I realize my pension and union dues are deducted, but to see 3600 drop to less than 2000 is tough.

>everyone should make the same
>everyone is equal
>leftist opinion

Why spend the money and take 10 years to be a doctor, when i could flip burgers and make the same wage? Literally idiots that don't understand an economic structure and get frustrated when they don't get their way, are starting to take over Canada and The States. It's pathetic.

You're a liberal aren't you?

Its a growing city. So probably a solid 7/10 now, but will probably jump as the years move forward. I moved here from Toronto.

Public transportation is actually shit here and there are councilors who are trying to stop it from improving. Depending on where you live (up the mountain, stoney creek, westdale, etc) you will be waiting a long time for busses.

>A FUCKING LEAF

is meth addiction new to saskatchewan? I wouldn't be able to tell otherwise.

im not trolling dude. Moving to L.A was the best decision of my life. I make more a month than most people in this thread make a year. im not bragging i'm just trying to make the point that there are way more opportunities in america than canada. And maybe i got lucky idk but i still think it's a good idea.

Be prepared for massive unemployment when all the businesses fold. They are looking into 15 per hr minimum wage and already McD's is investing in automated stores with only a couple of workers as janitors!
newsexaminer.net/food/mcdonalds-to-open-restaurant-run-by-robots/

Naw idgaf about politics. I just saw the bubble bursting before I'd want to leave, when I had my chance to go.

He seems butt hurt about the oil prices, Alberta had it good for close to two decades with the oil prices, now that oil sands are to costly to compete with OPEC countries he is upset. Markets rise and fall friend.

Man the first time I tried meth was sask

Paul?

Not surprising. Where I'm from, blow's the big thing.
>take a guess

What do you do for work? What's minimum wage there? 18k seems ridiculously low to me
