If America is a country built on the notion of the free market, capitalism, why do the worst teams in sports leagues get the best youth prospects.

Its the equivalent of a government bail out.
Thats communism.

New and creative thread

really makes you samantha ponder

I've never seen this posted before, I'm sure we're about to have a brilliant discussion

Because American sports leagues know their competitors aren't other teams, but rival sports leagues and other entertainment options.

Helping a bad team rebuild is no more communist than a company putting money into renovation an underperforming department or branch.

for one, our leagues are privately owned and they can do whatever they please. and that may be a communist structure but it leads to a far more entertaining league. for example, there hasn't been a back to back champion since 2005.

why should the best youth players be punished by putting them to the worst teams that are less likely to improve said player to the best of his potential?

why would you post itt without saging it

communism is good tbqhwy

if they really are outstanding they will move to a better team when their rookie contract expires, not only that but a huge payday.

Because it's an opportunity for a younger player to make a name for themselves in a smaller market, and have playing time instead of waiting on the bench for half a decade.

And this nails it on the head. Pro Sports leagues don't like flagging numbers in communities, as that means the locals are going to watch something else. Having "your" team be good means people want to watch.

The leagues are private corporations, generally making the sport as entertaining as possible (i.e. the same team not winning 3 years in a row) is in the interest of their profits.

no one gives a fuck about the free market, only making money

This. Calling things like salary caps and drafts "communist," offhandedly implying that there is something inherently wrong with them, is the easiest way to spot a retard.

Because not everyone is like Euros who celebrates non relegations like they've won the world cup.

I can't imagine if I have to watch my local team to have no chance ever not be shit because other teams have money

British education AT. IT'S. FINEST.

Our public universities/amateur sports leagues are built entirely around such free market captialism. It's the opposite of socialism. See, communism is okay as long as it's not the "Government" that's communist.

Oh look, it's the typical Canadian that pops up in every thread to defend America.

>IT'S
>'
Yank education, you say? Nah, not a fan.

Are euros actually proud that their leagues have practically no parity?

oh look it's the typical Australian that literally cannot stop themselves from shitposting

Oh look, it's the typical Mexican who cannot stop themselves jumping over borders.

Having the best players play with the best players is awesome, it means the youngsters among them can learn the most and therefore become the best. Stop being communist.

so americans are just massive bandwagoners who rather watch a team that's based hundreds of miles from them rather than a team from their city?

i kinda feel bad for amerifats who live in a city that doesnt have a team in their sports respective top league, considering that without relegation system the only way to get there is through an arbitrary decision made by the league officials

>I can't imagine if I have to watch my local team to have no chance ever not be shit

Then you probably aren't into NHL, eh.

>i kinda feel bad for amerifats who live in a city that doesnt have a team in their sports respective top league

Literally the only way Amerisharts can have teams based locally is by living in one of the bigger cities. Meanwhile in the rest of the world (apart from Canada who are extensions of America's sporting system as they are cucks) any team can get promoted and become the best.

In the normal world the prize for being dogshit is getting relegated; in America they reward you with the best player who always looks cringy as fuck in their draft interview pretending to be excited about signed for the Philadelphia 76ers or Minnesota Timberwolves or whatever shit-tier team they've been assigned to.

"""""teams""""" aren't competing each others. They are a part (franchise) of a product called """""league""""". Fans are customers. If a franchise dominate too much the product becomes stale and uninteresting, the customers go away. Ever wondered why WWE was pushing mandrama again and again, to hook the customer. NFL is the same, hence belongs to /asp/

people can always support a college team in their area

you mean it means the "best" players don't actually have to play each other? What a fucking joke

It's embarrassing that entire states (Alabama and Mississippi for example) don't have professional teams and froth at fucking college sports. They go there in the tens of thousands to watch amateur college kids.

Except they do because the best players are spread out among the best teams. I'd rather watch Man City and Man Utd play each other with each having 10 good players in their starting 11 rather than watch two American teams where they each have 2 good players total in the teams among mediocre player.

so you only watch 8 games the entire season?

tens of thousands? maybe at a fucking alabama a&m game
cuz the big teams in Mississippi and Alabama have 100,000+ attendance at home games
do you know how big Talladega is? used to seat 175,000

You know that it works in exactly the same way in Europe, right?

If you think any European top flight football club considers its supporters as anything more than customers then you're utterly deluded.

If you guys have a problem with it, then put together a team that can do more than get it's ass kicked by amateurs not even good enough to play in the NFL.
