/cyc/ Vuelta a Espana stage 16

Sprinters-ish edition

Should be a comfy thread today.

Really annoyed I missed yesterday's stage.
Literally came home seconds after Froome came in.

Been travelling for the last couple of days.

What did I miss Sat and Sun?

You missed a great stage yesterday.

Contador attacked out of the gate. Quintana followed, but the voice in Froome's ear forgot to tell him to also follow. Froome lost two minutes to Quintana.

Overall standings:

1. QUINTANA Nairo
2. FROOME Christopher + 03' 37''
3. CHAVES Johan Esteban + 03' 57''
4. CONTADOR Alberto + 04' 02''
5. YATES Simon 59 + 05' 07''
6. SANCHEZ Samuel + 06' 12''
7. TALANSKY Andrew + 06' 43''
8. FORMOLO Davide + 07' 17''
9. DE LA CRUZ David + 07' 23''
10. SCARPONI Michele + 07' 39''

Sounds hype as fuck!

So essentially, Froome needs to kill the time trial and have Quintana crash a few times.

Yeah, that or a massive attack on stage 20 on the Alto de Aitana.

If Froome can get three minutes out of Quintana on the TT, then we'll see an aggressive Sky for the first time in what seems like ever.

Has anyone been watching the Tour of Britain?

I have not.

Imagine if the gruppetto was thrown out yesterday.
What an amazing rest of the race it could have been.

It would have sucked.
With the entirety of the rest of Sky taking a rest day, they'd have all been thrown out and Froome would have quit as well. The rest of the race would be boring.

Who /guardiacivil/ here

>no out of category climb at the finish

what is this madness

An I right in thinking that team sky (apart from froome) effectively had a tweet day yesterday by coming in like an hour after the elimination cut-off?

Also lol at tinkoff's DS effectively accusing astana of taking money from sky to ride (badly) for froome yesterday on thecyclingpodcast.

SJWs were complaining about equal rights for sprinters.

Rest.

Fucking iphone

>using pedals

but why did astana help sky?

Everyone should get a red jersey for participating imo

Yes. You're right.

Once they realized it wasn't happening for them, they were all told to treat it as a training ride, except Froome, who was told "Limit your losses".

They knew they'd never get DQ'd anyway.

Sky shall attack at downhill enjoying crosswind

if froomey can pedal on the top tube with crosswinds...

Boring stage for while

>Commentators talking about olive oil.
Think I'll go for a morning jog and come back for the wind-up to the sprint.

Commentors here talking on bike roads in Germany threating german car industry.

I don't understand why the Vuelta insists on boring stages like this. Hopefully they'll learn and next year every stage will be a summit finish

Dreaming with 21 purito stages

speedometers are a lie.. shit

anyone got the uni-fliz design?

The true heroes of this Vuelta.

>jogging

Is like you want to be a bad cyclist

IAM and Etixx working eventhough they shouldve been sent home yesterday.

Sky doing no work at all now that they know they'll never be kicked out.

Everyone but Froome will take the time trial stage off as well.

That works out to four days in a row when they haven't had to pedal in anger so they really have no excuse to not reform the Sky train in the final mountain stages.

pretty comfy shots

They basically held the race hostage by sticking together in such a large group. It's not exactly fair, but so it goes. The grupetto often comes in too late, although this time it was a particularly huge group

Today's stage needs some eurobeat to intensify it.

If the weather's good I might go watch the Bristol time trial in stage 7, it's only a bus journey for me, and the circuit is lovely, the downs are great and they're using the clifton suspension bridge (world's first) and Avon gorge.

...

Just came back from my morning ride lads, how did I do? I dropped like a fly in the last ten miles, as I intentionally brought less food and gels than I knew I would; and thereafter my wattage and average speed declined precipitously

...

How much food do you need for 2.5 hours? I don't even bring water if it's less than 2 hours

>2016
>not having an engine on your bike

Yeah, but running is unfortunately a part of a triathlon.

two gels and a Clif bar, it was too little considering I put in 50+ miles yesterday at a maximal effort

Good effort. Here's a (you)

Should be fine unless you're not eating enough beforehand.

I've been eating at a 1,000+ calorie deficit for the past few weeks (barring days leading up to high-wattage workouts) because I hate myself

Trying to lose fat?

>not stocking delicious glycogen
>not being able to jump out of bed and go for a 100km ride without eating anything

your life is shit desu

I'm at 6-8% bodyfat, trying to get down to 5%
