Is there a more overrated filmmaker than Stanley Kubrick?

Is there a more overrated filmmaker than Stanley Kubrick?

Richard Linklater
Martin Scorsese

Nope. 2001 is a peice of crap that aged badly and compare dot Planet of the Apes that came out the same year was a piece of fucking shit.

He had a good music guy, is all. You want proof of why he's overrated? 200 takes to get one shot. That's not the sign of the professional, that's like seeing a pro tennis player say "DO OVER DO OVER".

The guy like George Lucas who's underfunded and overworked and doesn't quite and even puts his health at risk and goes beyond to improve the quality of the cinema's his movies are played at as well as takes a pay cut to release his movie, THAT'S A FILMMAKER.

Kubrick is a bouisege that had to have The Shining EDITED AT THE THEATER AT THE LAST SECOND BECAUSE THAT'S HOW FUCKING BAD IT WAS.

nice pictures, nice music, decent script, but the story and continuity of the movie was a garbage, pretentious, and overrated to this day.

Dr. Strangelove was genuinely good, but with the Peter Sellers how can you fail? He was a genius and was probably his finest movie ever.

Eyes Wide Shut was just a softcore porn, and you can't really say it was a movie ANY deeper then that, unless you're actually an illuminati member.

The one long take thing was impressive when hitchcock did it int he 60's but now 14 minutes is NOTHING.

This post gave me cancer

JewJew Abraniggers

yeah, maybe after their movies age badly. How shitty is Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs? You think they'll age badly? That ear kinda looked fake, and also the briefcase with the glowing light, COPE OUT.

Nolan's Dark Knight, more like SNORE-FEST.

JJ Abrams... wait you just picking action film directors. Woah. You really reverse action movies, eh. You could have said Micheal Bay, but you liked Transformers, Freddy Kruger, and Bad Boys,

DIDN'T YOU.

Nolan's stupid "is the top gunna fall over" was too deep for you? Like what?

2001 came out like a in the decades between any good sci-fi. a decade after Forbidden Planet and a decade before Star Wars.

It was not really a hard category to be outstanding in. And The Shining was one of the few good Stephen King movies. Eyes Wide shut was so different in the nudity and the cult feel of it all.

Spartacus looks like half the scenes are done on a stage, fake as shit, compared to Ben Hurr or The 300 Spartan's it's just another movie. The hippies got obsessed with Clockwork Orange because of the trippy music. Most hippies I know would just listen to that awesome techno.

Full Metal Jacket was legitimately a great movie. Luckily the Drill Sergeant replaced the actual actor that was suppose to do those lines and ad lib'd it al. The rest was fairly typical 'nam shit.

>Kubrick was notorious for demanding multiple takes during filming to perfect his art.

His art was far from perfect.

woody allen

I have not made it through one of pic related's films yet. I have no idea why people think they are funny or even slightly entertaining. He plays the same spastic neurotic kike in every movie.

Nolan
Antonioni
Tarr

Malick is easily the most overrated on Sup Forums.

You're just wrong.

Nolan and Nolan and Nolan. He's a Kubrick wannabe as far as reputation goes, but a hack.

ZACK SNYDER

I can't imagine anyone being this retarded,

In a similar thread to this one, someone posted that Lynch was overrated. Shit still gets me mad
