Mr.Pebble

Just think how the internet was in the 90's, there you have it

...

I bet you live in your parents house rent free and still have no money because there's no jobs, probably have a weight problem aswell and masturbate too much because all girls are sluts that will steal your money and run off with Tyrone or chad.

you sound like an old man lol but i know your saying and i have to agree. i feel sorry for ppl that grow up in this decade they live there lives online and never really connect with ppl. thay lack skills to form meaningful relationships.

Fukin checked, words of wisdom there

No it wasn't. You're just remembering the good things, if you even were at an age were you could comprehend anything. This is common bullshit that people spew, regarding everything. What they don't realize, when talking about music especially, is that the shit won't be remembered in 20 years, and that the good stuff remains as classics. There was an equally large sea of bullshit back then, just that nobody cares about it now. Your hipster bullshit mentality is getting old by now.

Someone is triggered

No I'm laughing heartily irl because every faggot that hates on the 90s and what we were about is an actual faggot with a shitty life

I don't even hate them, It was indeed a great time, but idk why the fuck people hates this years too much, they only focus on the bad things

Because imho the negatives far outweigh the positives,

"People" hate on it because one tends to find the decade you grew up in to be the most cringe worthy. Nowadays we've got hipster fags who try to reclaim it, but fact still remains - all decades had shit tier culture, and some gems. The nostalgic kind glamorize the good parts and deny the bad parts, some fags deny the good parts. It was all shit, just like the rest of human history. We're still not moving into any dark ages, hopefully, and we continue to strive for a better society, with better life expectancy, better healthcare and technology to move us further, and hopefully solve our problems. We'll never be complete, or perfect, but we're moving in that direction. Anyone denying that is too nostalgic to ever be considered credible.

But they always do.

No they don't, between me and OP every other user in this thread thinks we are living in better times, and since you guys are the majority the world is going to shit

Fuk off we are most definitely not moving in the right direction and nostalgia has nothing to do with that, go suck off your precious governments fat cock then off yourself

So, you're saying we're regressing? I can admit that we've got loads of bullshit today, and we still have a whole heap of kinks to sort out, but society is still trying to progress. The population is growing, the sea of culture is expanding, and the lowest lows will be lower than before, but the highest peaks will continue to climb too. There is always room for failed experiments, both culturally, politically, and technological, but these need to take place to eliminate them at a later stage. You're just cynical and deny shit because you think your generation was the best, when everything is a refining process, an objective truth.
>the world is going to shit
maybe it needs to go to shit, to burn to the ground for something to grow out of the ashes?

So medical progress is bad? Technological progress is bad? Politics swing and cause experiments that fail, but in the long run, you can't deny that life is better because you don't need to go down to the creek in a blizzard to wash your fucking clothes, can you?
The fact that your family members may get health care that works if they are ill fated enough to contract cancer? How fucking thick skulled are you if you honestly cherry pick what's bad and compare it to what you've cherry picked as good?

And kids in the 90s probably thought the 80s were a better time, we'll probably look back on today in ten years and think of this as a better time. World's going downhill, and has been for many years.

Kurd Cuban

You're just projecting bullshit right there. user didn't say shit about government, and was in no way implying that SJW bullshit, that you thought this was about, was the way to go. Societal change is in a grander scope than this little experiment.

How can you talk about care for cancer when it Is the worlds governments fault that most people get cancer! They also profit off it

It's just a matter of nostalgy. World is not going worse or better.
90% of youtube comments on music are "music in the xx's rocked, now it's shit"... same goes for games, TV shows, movies...
The thing is that once you grow up you experience less and less and you become more and more nostalgic of the times where you were discovering everything.
Rest is bullshit.

Oh, you're that kind of stupid...
My bad, I thought I was speaking to someone even remotely sane.
>still, I've never ever supported government
>diminish the power of the state is my view of how to progress, but you ascribe things you THINK I stand for to further your worthless point

Not projecting shit, government controls everything user talked about, truth is we will only progress far enough to appease the masses while government live in ultra luxury at our expense

Cancer existed before democracy, before states, before any of human society. With enough time, the probability of getting cancer increases to 100%. Life expectancy was simply not high enough for it to be common before. Sure, governments are earning money on things like the sales of tobacco, but that's to make up for the spending of healthcare and workload losses. You don't know what you're talking about.

you should ask people who were around 30 at 90s to really know if it was awesome. They prolly would tell you it was nothing special and that young adults born in 90s are actually ruining the world.

My point is far from worthless and I am mentally sound, but sorry to say the states power will never diminish and they control the things you allegedly care about so your dreams won't see the light

But I never stated any sort of approval of this system, in fact I'm probably more against it than you are. That's what user is projecting.

Just like the ones born in the 40's think the 60's ruined the world. Are you really this oblivious to pointless nostalgia?

Well I apologise for being an ass I'm leaving the thread now,

literally talked about this shit today with my friend... i said i wasn't sure if there are so fucking many shitty movies atm or that it's just we only watched the good ones from the past so it feels like in the past the movies were better... now i have a fucking answer

You don't reach a logical conclusion, you simply state that you are correct because things are shit. Of course we have a state in politics where everyone is just talk and no show, with retarded ideas forming, like SJW crap and nationalism regaining strength, but at some point, that system will collapse, just like it has every other time. There is a time after this, and we've seen far more broken situations in human history before, that humanity managed to rise out of. It might not happen in our lifetime, but it will happen. Lets just make sure we lay the foundation to not repeat our mistakes, because no matter what you think, society will live on, even in complete despair.

The 90s were good, not great.

Yeah the music was good, the cartoons were amazing, playing co-op games at a friends house on your Nintendo and PS, and boy... Pokemon cards and my Gameboy, couldn't beat it.

But.

The internet. NOW I can look at all the fucked up types of porn I want, this second there is more porn being uploaded in the last 5 minutes than I can watch in my entire life, tell me this point in time isn't a beautiful place I dare you.

Im not talking about myself. If you think 90s were great because you were kid then, you prolly learned nothing useful.

Creed

The 90s were great, BROADBAND was/is amazing. But yeah good points there.

Your perception changed. It's called "Juvenoia". Deal with it. It'll only get worse.

Yea i mean ops pic sums it up. Nirvana blew and made it ok for muscians to be shitty. I mean they killed off the guitar solo in popular music during the 90s

I don't, that's my point. It's all pretty much shit, but the good parts are forever, and they keep piling up. No matter what, the collective cultural, intellectual and technological wealth is increasing, we're doing better for every day, even with failed experiments of politics and what have you. On a level of subjective taste, I think the 90's are the most cringe worthy, but that's besides the point. Every generation thinks the one after them is somehow ruining our world, when in fact, they collectively work to better our world, no matter what generation we're talking about. This includes mistakes that future generations can learn from, because considering the stupidity of humanity, we have to actually see the effects first hand to understand that it isn't the best option.

Video games have gotten worse though. Thats a definate

Arguibly entropy exists so the world does get worse. Compare freedom in the 70s to now. You cant even get away drinking and driving anymore

You forget about the shitty musicians of the 80's, and the terrible ones of the 70's, and the ones from the 60's you've never even heard of... and so on.
It's always shitty, and though I can agree that Nirvana wasn't technically skilled in any matter, I quite enjoy the music. That's completely subjective though. Generally I prefer objectively well written music, but the opinions of it is still subjective.

Ok, you stick to playing DOOM 1993 and some Quake, I will be playing Skyrim with 400 mods and some Overwatch

...

>short time scale
you have to put it in a larger time frame, 30-40 years is about the time it takes for political societal experiments to live on or die. Compare your life to how your life would have been during the dark ages, or the renaissance, or the bronze age. You'd probably be dirt poor and on the verge of dying from disease or malnutrition at any of those times.

But you still possess the wealth of previous generations. What's the problem with a larger pile to choose from?

Unfortunately, humanity is still stupid enough to repeat the mistakes from 70 years ago, but we're getting better at solving that shit too. The internet is still in it's cradle, and the information we're able to share today will lay down the foundation of a much better society once we've managed to use it to its full potential. The fact that we have it easier to communicate, and travel, than ever before makes the collective intellectual wealth increase, and the future generation will have more to learn from.

internet.

The by far most valuable invention in human history. Not only for porn and superficial stuff, but the ability to share information on a scale unprecedented is pushing human evolution at a rate never before seen.

Kurt durst

1990 was 30 years ago

>how do i math

1/
Genius is not a generous thing
In return it charges more interest than any amount of royalties can cover
And it resents fame
With bitter vengeance

Pills and powdres only placate it awhile
Then it puts you in a place where the planet's poles reverse
Where the currents of electricity shift

Your Body becomes a magnet and pulls to it despair and rotten teeth,
Cheese whiz and guns

Whose triggers are shaped tenderly into a false lust
In timeless illusion

2/
The guitar claws kept tightening, I guess on your heart stem.
The loops of feedback and distortion, threaded right thru
Lucifer's wisdom teeth, and never stopped their reverbrating
In your mind

And from the stage
All the faces out front seemed so hungry
With an unbearably wholesome misunderstanding

From where they sat, you seemed so far up there
High and live and diving

And instead you were swamp crawling
Down, deeper
Until you tasted the Earth's own blood
And chatted with the Buzzing-eyed insects that heroin breeds

26 years ago doofus

the 90s were shit

Y2K really was the 'end of the world' as we knew it.

3/
You should have talked more with the monkey
He's always willing to negotiate
I'm still paying him off...
The greater the money and fame
The slower the Pendulum of fortune swings

Your will could have sped it up...
But you left that in a plane
Because it wouldn't pass customs and immigration

4/
Here's synchronicity for you:

Your music's tape was inside my walkman
When my best friend from summer camp
Called with the news about you

I listened them...
It was all there!
Your music kept cutting deeper and deeper valleys of sound
Less and less light
Until you hit solid rock

The drill bit broke
and the valley became
A thin crevice, impassible in time,
As time itself stopped.

And the walls became cages of brilliant notes
Pressing in...
Pressure
That's how diamonds are made
And that's WHERE it sometimes all collapses
Down in on you

5/
Then I translated your muttered lyrics
And the phrases were curious:
Like "incognito libido"
And "Chalk Skin Bending"

The words kept getting smaller and smaller
Until
Separated from their music
Each letter spilled out into a cartridge
Which fit only in the barrel of a gun

6/
And you shoved the barrel in as far as possible
Because that's where the pain came from
That's where the demons were digging

The world outside was blank
Its every cause was just a continuation
Of another unsolved effect

7/
But Kurt...
Didn't the thought that you would never write another song
Another feverish line or riff
Make you think twice?
That's what I don't understand
Because it's kept me alive, above any wounds

8/
If only you hadn't swallowed yourself into a coma in Roma...
You could have gone to Florence
And looked into the eyes of Bellinni or Rafael's Portraits

Perhaps inside them
You could have found a threshold back to beauty's arms
Where it all began...

No matter that you felt betrayed by her

That is always the cost
As Frank said,
Of a young artist's remorseless passion

Which starts out as a kiss
And follows like a curse

Jim Carroll truly knew how to write.

Shut the fuck up this generation is the greatest of all time you're just ignorant

Music nowadays is better

/r/ing Cobains death pic. Also Columbine shooters pics.

Slow deteriation of moral standards and core values.

60s. Have sex before marriage your a whore, unacceptable.
70s. Laxing more drugs, less strict parenting kids slipping through the cracks.
80s. No more morals, every kid is special and they just need love and support and they'll succeed.
90s. When the deteriation starts to show, kids have no support system no direction from parents, school shootings, kids droppong out not caring.
00s. Painfully evident with hundreds of new "social disorders", frantically blaming everything offensive for their childrens problems, not even and understanding to discipline and responsibility to fall back on.

TL;DR
There was a time when we aknowledged we had to be STRICT and discipline our children and instil strong moral foundations and core values and still just HOPE for the best.

Then we slowly decided its more important to sympathize and spoil our children with love and affection so we degenerate to retards.

Kurt go bang.

What generation?
>underage b&
all generations are shit, your generation is larger than previous ones and therefor contain more geniuses and more complete idiots, so in a sense, you're right. Your, or our, generation will do great things, but that's still the work of a select few. You're probably not going to bring anything of value to the table, just like the rest of us.

Don't know of any actually gore in Cobain's case, the press managed to snap some not very graphic ones though. Can't seem to find my collection, give me a couple of minutes.

>actually believing this
>not seeing how much more intelligent and free thinking the world has become
>believes that YOUR morals are superior because they are your morals

Can't we do better?

There aren't any better ones. That's the closest shot out there.

None were released, schlomo.

Entitled millenial cunts, and a complete lack of real anger, and a sprinkling of fake apathy.

Thanks for delivers what you could.
Columbine would be nice

I'm 36, the 80's and 90's were cool and all, but they had their problems just like any other decade in recent history. I do think the younger generation has it pretty tough. There's not a whole lot for you guys to fight for, even my generation had gay rights and whatnot. Now you guys are just inventing genders and issues to give a fuck about.

I think it's interesting how there was never really a nostalgia craze up until the 90's and I have a feeling that mostly has to do with wars. WWII vets and Vietnam vets had gone through some crazy shit and just wanted a peaceful future, more or less. I sure as hell don't see any Iraq vets pissing and moaning about how they identify as cis-male or anything stupid and time-wasting like that.
