Is it illegal to exploit a bug with a website checking coupon system that gives 100% discount?
On a big online e-commerce website, I found that the $10 off ($30 min spend) coupon they sent me allows me to buy $10 gift vouchers for free meaning that I can buy anything for free.

I'm not an expert, but I don't see how it could be illegal to use discount system they purpotedly put up. If they overlooked the fact that they lose money on it, it's their problem. You didn't hack anything, you're using it just as they intended it.

That's not how the exploit works, the voucher allows you to buy as many $10 gift vouchers as you want to make an order of any price for free by pilling up a bunch of gift vouchers and using them on one order.

Assuming the exploit works, what are they gonna do? Arrest you? Worst case scenario they make you refund or cancel the purchase.
Try it. The worst thing that can happen is that they tell you that it's not possible to to that and they give you a bit more discount.

Think of it this way if 1000's of people do it, you can't get in trouble for it/. Its easier to prosecute 1 ip rather then 1000, assuming your not using a vpn. Giving you a 1/1000 chance to get caught maybe

Why would they need to trace IP's? They would have addresses from the purchases.
Not your fault they didn't put a restriction on the offer - I.e cannot be used on vouchers. You could fight the case if it ever came back to you.

You get a free, intangible item. You are a potential criminal. The voucher provider gets all your purchasing info. Whoever that is has a great headstart on using that info while the real you is prosecuted.

Op based on your explanation, IMO the most they are going to do is cancel your order. You didn't alter their site or databases to make it possible, so you are not guilty of any crime.

At a minimum it will get exploited 50000 times in 2 hours and the site will notice or some newfag will go to the site seeking a reward for your discovery.
They have the restriction in writing they just didn't make it so it gets rejected when you try to use it incorrectly, which they did do on other vouchers, they just screwed up on this one I guess.
