because it looks weird

too much money

Did you see the hobbit in high framerate? looks weird.

I'd have to agree with mr... let's see here... anonymous is it... yes mr anonymous

Cause it looks gay if not done right.

What was the framerate for Collateral? I know they used digital handheld cameras so at times it felt like a home movie (like the briefcase scene). If filmmakers want to go that direction, than just look to Michael Mann for guidance I guess?

because the popularity of soap operas has collapsed

show me an example of a movie filmed in 60 fps

People are unused to it, it is also hader to hide flaws and other details like makeup and props.

...

>that hair

Looks like a video game tbqh familia

It DOES look like shit.

Because humans can only see at 24 fps, it's a scientific fact. You're wasting 36 frames each second and that costs the studios money.

yes the hair isn't 60fps

There's no objective reason, really, it just looks odd. Probably because we aren't used to it.

>when the hand touches the raptor in the kitchen scene

imagine that shit at 60fps, EVERYONE would have noticed it

Because luddites don't like change.

Too bad almost no one on the board has a monitor that can correctly view this at perfect 60fps and VP8 fucks it up.

You can't hide flaws as well, and it's more difficult to edit.

then how can we notice a difference between 24 fps and 60 fps, then? i think youre just a dumb faggot

because its too difficult for the incompetent hacks who make movies

why bother making actually good movies when you make money faster and easier by releasing cliché riddled garbage

also, everyone who claims 60 fps would look worse is legit sub 100 IQ

Awful

the movie would take twice as long

Looks great. People just arent used to it

>what is motion blur
Fuck off to Sup Forums. More fps is not better for movies.

Isn't the newest Planet of Apes in 60 fps?

>also, everyone who claims 60 fps would look worse is legit sub 100 IQ

You must have sub 50 IQ then. It looks worse and I bet you're too stupid to know why so you assume it's only because people are used to it.

it doesn't look too bad here because it's CG, but live action 60FPS is absolute cancer.

Because people are retarded and can't handle change.

i love you.

Screw that. Why don't they make 360 kino instead?
youtube.com/watch?v=-xNN-bJQ4vI

VFXfag here, It costs a fuckto to do any sort of postproducrion work at 60fps because you're have almost three times the number of frames per second. Add 3D that doubles the amount of frames aswell and work.
And if you really want to push it to the limit, film it in 4K.

You can see through the fakery of CGI, effects, makeup, artificial light, etc. much more easily. Would work for sports, documentaries, and maybe some verite style stuff but terrible for conventionally produced narrative works.

wasn't filmed at 60 for morons

that's just been interpolated and fucked with, no better than that shit TRUMOTION gimmick nonsense on TV's

avatar wasn't filmed in 60fps, that's interpolation. Interpolation looks horrid.

> film it in 4K.
35mm can go up to 8k. 4k is about default.

Because people don't like new things.

I use SVP and watch most things in 144fps. Feels good man.

this

HAUHUHAHUAUHAHUUAHA

this is why 60 gets such a bad rap

fucking nothings actually been made in it, so it's all clueless people watching their gimmick interpolated TV options

The main reason why 60fps is unanimously seen as a better thing for video games is the huge decrease in input delay over 30fps.

For pre rendered video it doesn't matter that much and usually ends up looking weird, and makes things like motion blur look shittier.

Your eyes can't even see more than 60 fps. How does it feels good, you retard?

>liking interpolated trash
>being this retarded

ebin, simply ebin

>Your eyes can't even see more than 60 fps
()

They did and it looked like total shit.

...

>The average population would perceive about 45 frames per second (nice going HFR movies). But on the other hand, you have 25% of the population who will percieve more than 60 frames per second, with extremes going to seeing temporal gaps of up to 2 ms

reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/1vy3qe/how_many_frames_per_second_can_the_eye_see/

>hair and bird things rendered at like 15fps
>dindu smurfs rendered at 60
fucking why

Okay, so you and some redditor are retarded, What else is new?

the eye accepts all light and does not delineate it into frames. The visual cortex be-
>reddit
ur fukin dumb m8

interpolation can't handle small, quickly changing objects in real time. The more of the screen it takes up the easier it is to interpolate.

>it's a Sup Forumseddit thread

GET THE FUCK OUT. YOU'RE NOT WELCOME

fuck off you cancer-ridden faggot

also how many frames per second the eye can perceive depends on what's actually being seen, not that any redditor Wikipedia scholar "scientists" would know that

>redditor that is actually a scientist or some random 4 chan neet

Geez I wonder who is right

>le eyes see in frames per second meme

>living cells literally perceive light with a frequency in time
keep the meme up

explain

because its trash for movies 60 fps it looks too real and makes movies look like soap operas

real life can't be discretized.

saved

>fucking nothings actually been made in it,

Porn. And while the porn is mediocre, the video quality is GOAT.

The only thing I know for a fact was in 60fps is Avatar that already looks dated and was a generally shit movie and porn.

I like the porn, you can really notice the difference

He didnt say people see in 45fps. Lrn 2 reading comprehension, he said most people could perceive changes in fps up to 45fps with about 25% can detect up to 60fps.

This might actually be enjoyable if it weren't for the shrieking harpies.

that was 48 frames per second.
my monitor has a 144 frame per second refresh rate.

literally for what purpose?

60fps is needed in gaming because your brain reacts faster than 30fps games.

They could but since you watch a 30 fps film with both eyes, it's effectively 60 fps.

>movies wont be made in 480 frames per second in my life time
thanks, plebians

Underrated post

Personally I prefer 1 fpm. I like to be able to enjoy the art of every frame. I don't know why you'd want to watch a movie at twice the speed it was shot at. You'd have to retrain all the actors to speak with really deep voices so it sounds normal when the film is sped up.

And if you watch through a mirror it's -60 fps

>Not printing off every frame of the movie, hanging them up in order on a wall and walking by each one taking as much time as you need to appreciate the image
Fucking pleb

>printing
>Not painting each frame yourself so that you can fully internalize it's content

There's actually a Vincent Van Gogh movie coming out with each frame painted.

>What was the framerate for Collateral

24fps. Mann just likes using a 1/48 shutter speed and that creates something that looks like 48fps only without looking like complete ass.

Wrong. Soap operas are now called "premium cable original programming."

so...pasically animated?

60fps porn is wonderful. kpop is also broadcast in 4K60fps.

If videogames had colors first you wouldn't want colors as well, fuck off you retarded child.

Panning, mostly. Someone has that webm from noah where they pan semi-quickly around, and holy shit its total eye cancer. For you can only pan very slowly in 24 fps, otherwise, eye rape.
