Care to give some tip for getting into it? What do You like about it?

It has a sense of very german or european melancholia which i enjoy, and I like how it blends initially offputting absurdity with these cracks where desperation and overwhelming sadness comes through, like Läuft which is one of my favorite songs ever. That's just how i view it personally, I understand why people would dislike it.

Me too, buddy. Sometimes I wonder if people begin to recognize your chart and they groan due to finding that you haven't updated it in 2-3 months.

you really think you can rightfully criticize the OP with taste like this?
delusional

Joyce Manor - Self Titled (2011)

>Classicalfag
>Elitist shitter
Hardly surprising. At least you picked the best of Beethoven's symphonies.

Who are you replying to? Do you have a problem?

A much condensed chart of my essential rock music. More charts coming soon.

Don't get the obsession with Sup Forums and RYM have with Ryo Fukiu. Just sounds like basic lounge by a Nippon-ese guy with a funny name.

Listen to Cornelius- Fantasma, Asa Chang and Junray- Mahou

Pram- Helium

Most of your albums are shit I really enjoy that are just short of favorites. Paranoid time is my shitty morning pick me up.
Charlie Haden- Liberation Music Orchestra

Listen to Crass. Any album, they're all good.

Listen to Beach Boys- Holland. The extra EP at the end might hit your Ariel Pink sensibilities.

You seem cool. You ever listen to Jenny Hval?

Not bad but you need to go deeper into hipster-faggotry.

RYM, Tiny Mix Tapes, Tripfags, and Scaruffi are your friends.

Fire! Orchestra is my shit. Try Eric Dolphy- Iron Man

Not bad, try The Art of Noise.

If you haven't already, you might get a kick out of Butthole Surfers.

Lee Hazlewood is the shit? You heard his album with Nancy Sinatra? Not bad choices all around, Modern Jazz Quartet- Fontessa

+Best Soft Machine album.

Try The Fugs.

"~sweet reginas gone to china~"

Olivia Tremor Control- Desk at Cubist Castle

Boredoms- Super ae
Captain Beefheart- Strictly Personal

Area- Arbeit Macht Frei
Aphrodites Child- 666

holy shit he deleted it because it was just rym poseur shit that everyone likes lmao

Here is my overall.

this is just scrauffi picks, contrarian scarufficore artist picks, and rymcore
nobody cares about your charts dude we already know this shit

Why do you have madvillainy, clouddead and the avalanches in your rock chart? They're great, just curious. Also, +R Stevie Moore, everyone on this board sleeps on him.

...

>how do i into prog

for someone who doesnt listen to prog I would recommend to following to get them started

>Yes - Fragile, The Yes Album, Close to the Edge
>King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (mandatory listening to anyone who's even remotely interested in prog desu)
>Jethro Tull - Aqualung, Thick As A Brick
>Pink Floyd (some people don't consider them true prog though) - Dark side of the moon, Wish you were here, The Wall
>Frank Zappa - Apostrophe, Overnite Sensation, Hot Rats, Joes Garage

K'

Defining "rock" as just popular music in general. As opposed to jazz, classical and avant garde.

I've heard arguments for Hip Hop as a subgenre of funk which have an appeal to them, and funk is inspired by rock guitar, so yeah.

d
Rory Gallagher - Deuce
Yardbirds - Yardbirds ('66)
Snakefinger - Snakefinger's History of the Blues

Dan Friel- Total Folklore

Lurk moar. Not saying this in a judgemental way, but Sup Forums's essentials charts might just help you a lot.

The Ramones are Nice though.

Digging Yudef Lateef.

Try the Brian Jonestown Massacre

You might enjoy Cap'n Jazz if you haven't already.

Try Gastr Del Sol and Mouse on Mars.

What's the top right one?

Eels- Electro Shock Blues.

>What's the top right one?
The Crane Wife by The Decemberists

I've actually listened to those yes albums, aqualung, floyd and king crimson. I love itcotck but yes and jehtro tull didn't click with me. I've only listened to zappa's first album though so I'll check that out. Maybe prog isn't my thing idk

If you were to define rock as popular music then it isn't really a useful term. Wouldn't you be able to classify jazz as classical by that same logic?

>contrarian

If I wanted to be contrarian, I'd show you contrarian. Those are just album where I try my hardest but can't find better.

*This* would be contrarian, it's a list of my favorite albums with under 50 ratings on RYM.

members only

some people cant get over jethro tulls folk sound, especially with the flute parts

howabout these then

>Gentle Giant - Octopus, The Power and The Glory, In A Glass House
>Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Tarkus, Brain Salad Surgery
>Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds
>Wishbone Ash - Argus
>Camel - Mirage

Haven't heard those, thanks boss

I've listened to Mouse on Mars, will check out Gastr Del Sol

If you're looking to get into prog, and you enjoy post rock, you might enjoy more serious stuff like

Soft Machine, Clearlight, Family, Area, Amon Duul II

>If you were to define rock as popular music then it isn't really a useful term.

That's totally fair. Rock as a catch all term for all commercial music tied to recording innovations during the 50s and 60s is just the system that works for me when I organize my records.

I'm not confident enough to judge but I can try to recc

Candy Claws - In the Dream of the Sea Life

Silver Mt Zion

MIcheal Head & The Strands - Magical world

Múm maybe

I actually really enjoy Soft Machine and Amon Duul II, I guess it never clicked that they're prog. I'll check out the others though, thanks for the recs
