Alright guys, say if there was someone who rarely watched movies, if you could make a list of top 10 must see movies what would it be?

5. Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier
6. Whiplash
7. 10 Cloverfield Lane

10. Star Wars The Force Awakens

6/10
Not as funny as I expected it to be

...

Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989) (Peter Bonerz)
Police Academy (1984) (Hugh Wilson)
Three Men and a Baby (1987) (Leonard Nimoy)
Cocoon (1985) (Ron Howard)
Big Trouble in Little China (1986) (John Carpenter)
Short Circuit (1986) (John Badham)
Porky's (1982) (Bob Clark)
Mannequin (1987) (Michael Gottlieb)
Revenge of the Nerds (1984) (Jeff Kanew)
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985) (Jerry Paris)

This is a challenging question. You would want to cover most genres and try to cover the classics but not too much. I'll try.

1) a classic hollywood epic like Lawrence of Arabia

2) an action movie like Die Hard

3) a sci fi movie like 2001 or Terminator 2

4) a movie about making or enjoying movies like The Player or Cinema Paradiso

5) a slapstick movie like modern times

6) a documentary movie like Hoop Dreams

7) a romantic comedy like Breakfast at Tiffany's or better off dead.

8) a western like The Good the Bad and the Ugly or The Searchers

9) a biopic like The Doors

10) a war movie like Saving Private Ryan or Bridge over the River Kwai

Alright fuckers come at me.

There was an attempt.

>lumping completely different movies into the same category
>variety above all
There's much more, but those two points are damning.

when will baby boomers fucking die out already?

>2001
>good
you almost got me. nice meme.

>>lumping completely different movies into the same category

are you memeing that Terminator 2 isn't Sci Fi or that The Player isn't a movie about making movies?

>you almost got me. nice meme.

It's not something I watch 100 times but it is a must-see. Partly because it was so ahead of it's time. Science Fiction was the stuff of late night drive in movies before 2001 made it legit.

Also I think it might not be as impressive to us in 2016 because it was copied by so many others but I think it stands up as a must see.

Feel free to name another must see Sci-fi...

thats an impossible question to do justice to with that little info

I agree its worth a watch and it was ahead of its time but it didn't do anything for me

This desu. If they watch blade runner and aren't impressed, you know they will never truly appreciate film.

>I agree its worth a watch and it was ahead of its time but it didn't do anything for me

I would be open to swapping out Blade Runner, Total Recall or THX1138. Those are IMO much more enjoyable movies. Or we could go hipster and put in Metropolis.

Maybe substitute one of the points for a Propaganda Movie such as Triumph of the Will, Battleship Potemkin, Birth of a Nation, Munich or Argo.

Lola Montès
The Mechanic (1972)
The Clone Returns Home
Film Without a Name
Farewell, Home Sweet Home
Pastori di Orgosolo
The Color Wheel
The Wind Whistled Beneath Their Feet
Albert Schweitzer (1957)
War at a Distance

>The Clone Returns Home
never in my fucking life had i heard someone mention nakajima in this board before
i love you user
Fe is amazing

A Woman Under the Influence (part of the R rating is purely for the way the main character acts)
Rosemary's Baby
Fast, Cheap and Out of Control
Stroszek
A Space Odyssey (the first anti-action movie)
Pom Poko (10 movies in one)
any hitchcock
any welles

just 8 I can't be bothered.
bladerunner is very flawed

oh and bandits of orgosolo was amazing
where can i find more about you user?

>bladerunner is very flawed
>posts a list made up of flawed films

you'd have to show film that understands film
The Meetings Of Anna
As I Was Moving Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses Of Beauty
On Top Of The Whale
Fire In Castilla
The Antiques Of Rome
Our Century
Dream Of life
Dyn Amo
Innisfree
Decasia

not nearly as flawed as bladerunner

for example, bladerunner had nothing driving it except a series of set pieces, and a few pages from a short story

the particular movies I posted are almost perfect

About me? Sorry, I'm a ghost.

the style is part of the substance lad, and the subtext and symbolism compacted so heavily into such a simple story (without being pretentious) IS the brilliance.

there are so many references and ideas, and so few of them are actively highlighted for the audience. its supposed to be a challenge.

i will grant that its flawed, but not really for the reasons that you mentioned.
