>REAL LOLITA SHIT

is there any torrent for it?

>WIDER

I just got back from it. 9/10 music video but 6/10 movie. I liked it. Pretty much what I expected from him after OGF.

Nah, not yet.

I was surprised when a much older couple sat in front of me, Once the synths and bloodied model came on the screen they got up and left immediately

They got up and left after the first shot? That's ridiculous.

It's possible that they were in the wrong movie. Finding Dory was playing next door. They were probably confused by the trailers beforehand, lol

That makes sense. Did you like it? At first I thought she was trying to be a female Ryan Gosling but I liked her character by the end. I didn't get much substance from it but the music was perfect and pretty much every scene looked great.

I did enjoy it. I agree, every scene looked fantastic and Elle Fanning's character was interesting. I kept thinking it was going to go in different directions plotwise but it sort of ended up not really having one. I know I'm going to be thinking about it for the next few days so that's probably a good sign at least.

How would you compare Only God Forgives to this? I should probably check it out next

>lol

Just got back. Loved it

It was a pretty good looking movie. It is a huge giallo jerk off session but still fun to watch. The Editor did it a bit better but you can tell that he really tried his heart out with Neon Demon.

OGF had more plot and a much darker style. Neon Demon improved on the visuals but had such a boring chain of events. There were a few exciting scenes but I saw them coming and didn't feel invested in any of the characters. If you liked it then you'll definitely like OGF as it's much more of a story than a good looking music video. I enjoyed the weird boners though. Never got any of those from his other movies.

>I'm too stupid to understand the genius of NWR

>genius of NWR
Found the tarantino fan

>Travers can't even construct sentences correctly

journalism really has gone down the shitter.

Is it bad or what? I'm going to see it tomorrow either way

Same, I loved Valhalla Rising and thought Drive was pretty good. I've always preferred style to anything else, so as long as it's competently made (which, though reviews point to the contrary, Refn is more than capable of), then I'll enjoy it.

Haven't seen Valhalla Rising yet but loved Drive. Only God Forgives was great visually but there was very little plot. I can't believe says that Neon Demon has even less plot

My thoughts

I did, I liked it

To me, it had a lot of raw, masculine ideas about femininity. Beholden to man(Jack/the moon), womankind is compelled to clamor for as much power(beauty) as possible, sometimes grabbing at more than they have a capacity for. Men further the heights of power/beauty by culling that which is not the most beautiful/powerful.

The movie was great, go see it for sure

Nice, thanks for no spoilers. I'm pretty fucking excited to be able to really discuss it tomorrow.

Little story: I told my mom I was heading into the city to see a film and she asked if she could go because she has some errands to run. She is a complete pleb and I seriously have no idea how she is going to react to the film, so we'll see how that goes.

Nice, the score was great. You're right about the last 30 minutes being divisive...the first hour or so was pretty tame

Fugggg dude, I don't want to spoil anything, but the film being too inaccessible is the least of your worries if your mom is seeing it.

I guess I should have said she's pretty open to anything, she's not like a "pearl clutcher" she's just pretty pleb and I think she'll be bored. I'm actually looking forward to how she reacts to the weird shit

Good luck man, if there's a thread tomorrow, I'll be looking for the story of how it went

Who is this Neon Demon?

I'll be sure to give an update

Your mom might lose her shit especially with the last parts of the film.

It really comes out of nowhere right?

If you see it with her you're going to have to pretend you were repulsed by it.

What the fuck was the deal with keanu?

I was laughing my ass off at all of his lines and then the rape/murder scene happened. That shit was probably the most uncomfortable scene in the movie for me and nothing was even shown

Fuck, I thought I hit spoiler on that last one. Sorry ya'll.

Tarantino is a wannabe nigger liberal. Can't stand him

yeah, kind of killed the movie for me.
I know I'm gonna sound like a pleb but I wanted to see Jesse being a badass while the ending was so abrupt, it really killed her arc

I wish

but it doesn't come out in my country until fucking november for some reason
it will hit torrents sooner

I really liked it, but I've loved all of the past like 4 films refns made. It was gorgeous and spare. The whole non plot felt incredibly strange and empty even but it completely fits with the essence of it all. Keanu was fantastic, Elle, abbey lee, heathcote and Malone all put in career defining performances

Musics are very nice and every scene looks really cool. Story is not the most important part of the movie and that explains to me all the bad reviews.

The only thing which I thought was too stretched is the eye at the end.

>film critics in 2016 who don't understand Refn's oeuvre is full of tributes to genre film
>70-year-old professional film critics whose job it is to have an encyclopedic knowledge of film who've never watched a giallo

Is it on par with OGF? If so, I will be supremely underwhelmed, as that movie was all visuals and no substance.

>Currently in Wyoming
>Really want to see this
>not a single theater will have this for quite a long time

No. I probably wouldn't be able to take it seriously. That cheesy stock sound effect in the ads made me laugh my ass off.

It's similar so if you didn't enjoy one I don't think you'll enjoy the other one

If a film requires an extensive specialist knowledge, or an explanation as to why it isn't shit, then it's shit.

spoken like a true pleb

An artwork has to be capable of standing on its own merits.

>RT hates it
Now i'll definitely watch it
Also,
>Unironically using the word "Offensive" as criticism
Nu males are the worst

>>Currently in Israel
>>Really want to see this
>>not a single theater will have this at all

'I didnt know who to call'
Uh the police?
I like the idea that the girl that didnt matter lives, i like the hosedown by the one girl, scenes of bloody hand print and moon with relationship.
Somewhat cinematically clever, still a lesser work. 7/10

It's a women's movie. Just show how vain women can be, kinda like Black Swan.
And this is not a criticism
6/10

a woman can never take the place of handome stonk man like him.

MGTOW

Kino-tier screener when?

The most visually abrasive of Refn's films to date.
Also the least plot of any of his films. And that's saying something.

The music was the best of any of his films. Cliff Martinez peaked here.
Braier's cinemtagraphy also peaks.
The performances were great, especially Jena Malone, Abbey Lee and Keanu (who was unfortunately underused)

Refn is a great director but his writing is pretty atrocious. There was a total lack of substance to the plot, and it really dragged.

overall 5/5 breddygud

Can't disagree with any of that. I haven't focused that much on a movie's score in a long time. Refn has some shit lines and shit ambiguity though. I thought the thing in her hotel room wasn't really there and was just supposed to be a metaphor until keanu mentioned it again later. The way they cut away after revealing it made it seem like some heavy handed attempt at symbolism. Other than that and a few bad lines (Beauty isn't everything, it's the only thing) I thought it was a decent movie. If he can't write a good story, then I'm glad he's realized this and is just making pretty moving pictures instead.

>It's awful but I won't tell you why :^)

And they pay this guy?

I just want him to direct more films that feature screenplays from other writers, rather than shifting into this one-man """"auteur"""" that he wants to be known as.

look at Bronson and Drive. by far his best, and they were written by other people.

Only God Forgives is my 3rd favorite though

I still haven't watched Bronson. I guess I will today along with Suspiria.

Its great

Whoes got the webm of Refn kissing Fanning at Cannes?

Is it as good as Only God Forgives?

I watched this in an empty theater, pretty cool experience.

I realized last night that Ruby drawing on the mirror was meant to notify the other girls that Jesse was "meat" and not "sex".

Two 5/5 movies. Enjoy.

Hollywood/fashion scene. It's a metaphor.

They could have gone that (somewhat generic) way, but if you think back what happened before that. There is so much foreshadowing. So many conversations and small things that hint at things to come. It would also ruin the whole point of the movie a bit.

I thought the same as you at first, but then I looked at the movie as a whole and realized it was the best possible ending.

that fucking strobe scene. i loved it.

They're not showing this at my local theaters

I am disappoint

>shitposting has become a career
what interesting times we live in

I had the same problem. I traveled 4 hours to see it and I got to see it in an empty theater.

she dies

omg epic dude xD

Take her to the movie, and then tell us how cringy it was.

It's so damn funny to see people going to see NWR like OGF or ND without having any idea of what they got into.

well, now I have to see it.

Is it weird that the necrophilia scene made me rock hard? I was probably meant to be disturbed by it.

Go to fort collins brother

Fellow wyominger heereee

youtube.com/watch?v=UgMj5WmKuDo

My thoughts exactly. Nice to have no pretense of story and just NWR style. The ending was also sweet.

I had two girls who didn't know what they were going to see and were audibly confused at a few points. I wish they hadn't been there. Nobody else in the theater.

word its analysis and shit like this that i was expecting to get since i saw the trailer

seeing this

heh, I wonder how many girls are seeing it expecting it to be about fashion and girly shit.

Can't wait to hear what she thought about that one Jena Malone scene.

I got at least a chub but part of it was because these two teenage girls in front of me were writhing with discomfort.

I am

didn't happen

It's not super uncommon for people to enter the wrong theater, especially not for people who don't often go to them.

...

I got a almost full boner but just because of the parallel scene where they show her imagination.

Nice, gonna look for the whole album

why isn't it mentioned anywhere for the UK? cant find it

This was fucking horrible, and Refn fans are the most insufferable cunts on the planet. All they talk about in regards to this movie are the music and visuals.

I can't wait to watch it again so I can jerk off to it, though.

And Refen isn't? How do we know this?

I like everything about the movie. Too bad you don't.

I really haven't heard much about this movie, without spoilers, what's it like? Satan stuff?

This makes me want to see it even more

Beauty from a small town wants to enter the Hollywood fashion industry. She's the prettiest of them all and bitches get mad because of it.

I wish this was a documentary about RiFF RAFF
