Is this a thread where I can ask a truck driver anything?

Seems a bit off topic, but go for it.

Every fuck a lot lizard?

Ever*

Do you think captain Picard should cross the neutral zone to locate the potential defector or wait for the Klingons to help using a cloaked ship?

Nah. Banged a couple hitchhikers, though.

He should take every advantage of the Kitimir accord and wait for klingon assistance.

Do lizards hitchhike?

They tend to change location every few years, so they should take advantage of the free transportation, but I've never run into one in the act.

Is truck driving as mentally relaxing and nice as it sounds? Implying I enjoy driving and solitude.

Yes, it was one of the major appeals to me when I got started as a college student. I got more thinking done in the first two years than my entire adult life before that.

Do you love all your wheel nuts equally?

No. The trailer has a few sneaky bastards on it. It's like they think they're neglected axle nuts or something.

Tomorow you will wake up and either be
1. Black
2. Disabled
Which one would you choose?
Disability isn't mental

Disabled. I don't know why anyone would want to change species between the two choices.

beautiful rig man!

My dream is a Mack M125 for daily duty and local deliveries.

I'm a fan of the old B6x models, but if I had to pick anything it would be the K521C. Never see goofy snubnoses anymore, and the access panels are so handy.

Would you rather have legs as long as your fingers, or fingers as long as your legs?

Fingers as long as my legs. Can you imagine the porn contracts?

Ever been to IOWA 80?

A few dozen times. The truck museum is nice, but the Jamboree is lit if you can find parking.

Have you been doing it long enough to experience crushing loneliness?
Have you resorted to drugs / hookers / doing gay stuff with other truckers to fill the void?
What will you do when your job doesn't exist in 20 years?

That set in within the first month, and every year or so I just don't leave bed for a month because it is so crushing.

Nah, might bang a trap, but nothing you listed. Thankfully my libido is starting to taper off due to age so it's no longer a suicide level threat.

I should be retired on a farm in 10 years, so idgaf.

I agree, I just love old trucks and how utilitarian they were.

There's a CCKW near me for sale, haven't seen many m125's or any old surplus trucks for sale in my area for ages besides a few cckw's, so I might have to jump on it. I'm hoping to get a new job soon so I can work on a truck in my free time and do weekend deliveries and just enjoy the fuck out of it.

If i get a CCKW I'll probably throw in a cummins 6bt sans turbocharger and throw on an old paxton FE supercharger for low end torque. I need it to haul around old airplane parts.

how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I find the loneliness to be comforting. Where I can keep ideas to myself and not sound too crazy or out there. I'm afraid of getting too lonely, so I'm resorting to a desk job soon.

My favorite aspect of them is reliability. That truck was never on a tow hook until the #7 cylinder filled with fuel at 75mph. My new truck gets a tow on average twice a year and it doesn't even have emissions controls.

I'm 27. Started trucking at 21. My family has told me I should quit so I can settle down, but I know damn well I won't find anyone to work that mess out with.

If I was going to go Cummins on that build I'd stick with an 855. Parts are still common, and they can give you all the power you'd want with a factory turbo and a few shims.

I'll look into it, the CCKW is only a 2 1/2 ton with a top speed of under 50mph. I need it to get over 70mph with a load and get better mileage than stock. I can pick up a whole truck with a 6bt for sub 5 grand and stuff it into a cckw in a week. The 6bt in stock trim is easily twice as powerful as the stock gmc 270. I'll look into the 855, but I'm not sure if it would fit.

This truck here is still for sale and only a couple of days out from me.

Any interesting stories about fucking hitchhikers? How does it usually happen?

Are you worried about losing your job to pic related

You'll probably want to swap out the frame on a plow truck anyway, so why not go class 8? Wreckers usually end up cutting them up and selling them for scrap, so they'd probably take scrap price to save them the labor.

>pick them up
>chat
>they start giving you the eye
>ask if they want sum fuk
>fuk them raw

Nope. I run open deck and the infrastructure needed for load securement and cargo checks alone would be cost prohibitive to not have a human in the cab. Door swingers can get fucked, though.

One was about 5'0" and 90lbs, so I fucked her for hours while I was driving. Automatic transmission really proved its worth that week, even though it's in the shop right now pushing $4000 in repairs.

Preferred engine brand?

Nothing newer than 2009. Detroit put together a nice electronic engine in the Series 60, but for mechanical engines I'll stick to Cummins.

Do you still snigger at "Delivery in rear only" signs? I do, and I'm oldfag.

I'll stick to class 5 because of the license requirements. It's probably just a matter of putting some relief cuts in the frame, pulling it straight and patching it up.

Just as often as "DRIVERS MUST CHALK TIRES" gets me.

I guess it matters where you love and what kind of license you have. Who needs a hood? Just slap it between the rails and let it sit where it wants.

CHALK! Sure, as soon as you pass me that cocking gun.

What was the last thing you hauled?

Always give rookies shit for not bringing their own chalk.

Landscape stone in 2'x3' and 6'x3' sections.

Only 4k? Ain't shit for a OTR truck

Just the back box on the transmission. I'd been wondering why it'd been getting hung up in 6th the last year or so. Turns out the whole cylinder was pitted out. Glad that's getting taken care of.

ahahaha. I wish. I'm planning on doing a korean war style restoration. My grandfather ruptured a disk in his back jumping out of a cckw when he got his first duty station, after that it was switched over it m125's until he got out.

Anything I can't find I can fabricate.

Only thing I've been hurting for the last few years is a shop to work in. Might buy one in the next year or two and have some fun with the old K100 again.

Is the truck in the shop?

What's the deal with ag truckers being out of control assholes? I had one up my ass in a construction zone doing the whole accelerate then engine brake at the last moment thing through the whole fucking thing. As soon as we were out I pulled into the right lane and he gunned it and nearly clipped my bumper and then the got in front of me and slammed in the brakes so I sped around him and flipped him off. He tried chasing me but couldn't accelerate as fast and I lost him on an exit ramp.

That's an extreme example but ag truckers are the fucking worst. I've got some links of heavy chain that I'm gonna toss at the windshield of the next one

Took them about 8 hours to find a tech to put on it, but he pulled it in about an hour ago.

Get an acre of land and put a prefab hangar on. Home depot sells a 40x60x14 for under 20k. I use an old airfield hangar for my mechanical shit. I don't have a large truck right now, I just use an 86 f350 dually for hauling and delivery duty. I usually with a 20ft featherlight attached. It's plenty for hauling around old airplane wings and engines from one airfield to the next.

DO YOU LIKE PETEYBILTZ?

How many hours a day can u drive?
Do you fuck lot lizards
Dude robots are taking ur job

what do you make long-hauling?

Dude I been talking to a CR England recruiter. Basically I'm gonna get my own truck through them and make like 5k/Week.

If I have a class A license with no experience, where do I get a job?

I'd probably go with a pole barn since there is a lot of cheap Amish labor out here.

>EF toasting
>in my bread
Y tho?

About $195,000 a year, which comes to about $115k after taxes and expenses.

Have fun with that $4k a week truck payment.

A mega carrier.
