What does Sup Forums think of the big lebowski? i really dont care for it, and dont understand why so many claim it to be the best movie of all time. wouldnt even be in my top 10.

>wouldnt even be in my top 10.
Well thats just like your opinion man

okay

I think a big part of the appeal is that people like the protagonist's attitude and wish they could be more relaxed like him.

It isn't the best movie of all time but it is a really good movie

i love it.

i can understand why its popularity would annoy people but i think it deserves all the love.

its not the best coens movie though.

Who the fuck says this is the best movie of all time? Reddit? I literally have never seen someone saying that on Sup Forums

Anyway, it's a nice movie full of quotable lines, but a 7/10 at best

chill out man who cares

If it isn't the best movie of all time, I don't know what is.

Oldboy
any Taratino film
any Kubrik movie

shit on The Great meme

I like John Goodman's character.

Everything else ranges from ok to lolrandumb.

>Oldboy
>any Taratino film
this is bait yes

>Tarantino FILM
>Kubrick MOVIE
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeee

What does this movie have?

The cinematogrophy is boring and
the meaning is probably not even intentional and it is that there is no meaning XD, the characters themselves arent even interesting, they're just a bunch of fucking rednecks. It's not even funny

muh 4th wall
muh breaking the rules
muh simplicity
muh memes

fuck you and your shit flick

inb4 thats just like your opinon man

on a scale of 1 to mad how buttblasted are you right now

2 or 3

tbqh

nice :^)

it's got infinite rewatchability for some reason.

reddit millennials adopted a lot of its humor which makes it hard to go back and watch these days

the dude is basically an aged nu male

that's just like your opinion man

the dude abides bro

the dude abides

The movie took place back in the early 90s, about the time of our conflict with saddam and the iraqis. I only mention this because sometimes there's a film...

I won't say a kino, because what is a kino? But sometimes there's a film...

Well, it's the film for its time and place.

hey man, it's a good movie, it really ties a top ten together

it's just fucking funny and really well made

i used to put off watching it cause i hated all the dumb meme shit that this movie spawned but it's hilarious

you cant watch that hotel california scene and not laugh

Robocop, maybe?

The scene where whatshertits points to the passed out guy in the pool and says "oh dont worry about him, he's a nihilist" I get slain

He's too laid back to be a nu-male.
Nu-males go on internet crusades about social justice.
The Dude just wants to chill and go bowling with his friends.

No

Great arguement,bunghole.

>tfw relaxed like le big le-bowski
>just dont get the hype
He's a cool dude and the opinion, man line is classic, the Folger's joke is a kek but I didn't laugh much. Don't get the hype, maybe I need to rewatch.

Shit thread, OP.

>i really dont care for it, and dont understand why so many claim it to be the best movie of all time. wouldnt even be in my top 10
You have to be Gen X or older to understand it.

It's not even funny

>any Tarantino
hahaha this guy is going to live the rest of his life full pleb and he doesn't even know it yet

Stop. You're just as bad as the guy with Lebowski as his favourite

94fag here, 22.
Would you mind explaining? My uncle who is a film buff loves this movie, my mom likes it a lot from what I remember too. Everyone seems to go "Oh yeah, le big le-bowski!" when it's mentioned and is familiar with it, everyone Gen X or older.

W-what am I missing? Is it an age thing? Is it a case where you realize, the older you get, it's pretty silly to take yourself so seriously and the film just really nails that?

Can anyone recommend similar movies that are noir parodies?

it's a classic case of "The whole is more than the sum of its parts."

and I take comfort in that

I get that, love those kinds of things

what's the best movie in the world if big lebowski isn't it

i'm voting for hot shots 2

Idk... The zero effect?

As far as disjointed modern Odyssey-type movies go, I like Inherent Vice better. But TBL is hilarious too.

the other Coens one, The Man Who Wasn't There.

imo better movie too, and funnier. less quotable though I suppose.

not for me, I loved it the first time I watched it and yawned thru the 2nd time, just not as funny as I remembered, like most coen movies

only god can judge is the height of modern pretentious movies. sucker punch plot makes no sense, noah was pretty badass, but as a christian action movie, like marvel. blackhat... what the fuck is that even on there...

"Oh, that must be exhausting"
Fucking kills me every time

Go ask in the Sucker Punch thread if it got you confused.

I understand the movie. I get it.
