Grunge band power rankings
1 Alice in Chains
2 Soundgarden
3 Stone Temple Pilots
4 Pearl Jam
5 Nirvana
Grunge band power rankings
LOL, none of those bands are even grunge
Those bands are the epitome of grunge
t. a pleb
Right, and Metallica's hip hop
wrong again, fucko
I think you may be all alone in that opinion
1. Puddle of Mudd
2. Weezer
3. Collective
4. Green Day
5. Pearl Jam
How can you say that, Nirvana was what put grunge on the radar and Kurt's voice and songwriting were truly a God given gift
First two are right, rest all have pretty uneven discographies and can be fudged around depending on how you weight things. So, I more or less agree OP.
>Singing one pitch is a gift
>zero vocal range
>god given gift
1. Nirvana
2. Soundgarden
3. Alice in Chains
4. STP
5. Shit jam
yeah, I'd be alone in that opinion if I was on Reddit. Maybe you should go back there.
gross
wrong
Howabout you faggots vocaroo yourselves trying to scream an A#4 with good control and tone, since it's so easy
3:09
>Nirvana was what put grunge on the radar
exactly, they're pop shit
1. Early Soundgarden
2. Melvins
3. Green River
4. Skin Yard
5. Malfunkshun
I mean I doubt he was trying to do that he just happened to.
Stone Temple of the Dog Jam Pilots
Yeah, cause he happened to have an amazing voice.
EVERYBODY SAYS
YOU MUST HAVE LOST YOUR HEAD
WELL
ONE MORE TIME
IS GOOD ENOUGH
FOR MEEEE
truth
You don't have to be amazing to do something amazing by accident
Popular music is good sometimes
I like his voice, but it's like fat Mike's. It's not an amazing voice, but it fits the music
Agreed
>
>Popular music is good sometimes
That is one hell of a bold statement
It wasn't an accident! Lol
Unlike you
>no Mr Epp and the Calculations
Fucking pleb
If you want a perfect pretty voice then listen to Rihanna man.
Fuck off faggot. You obviously know nothing about music
>singing and octave higher on accident
What a retard
>Women
>Pretty
Quit trying to pull a fast one
1 Nirvana
2 Alice in Chains
3 Soundgarden
4 STP
5 Shit
6 Pearl Jam
>shit higher than Pearl Jam
this guy gets it
Pearl Jam sucks cock.
Notice how I never said I didn't like his singing. However his singing isn't amazing. You can't sing an octave higher by accident but that doesn't mean you're hitting the right note. I may not know much about music but I have ears.
Just because you have a perfect voice doesn't make you a good singer. People enjoying your music is what makes you a good singer. Art is about imperfection, the little flaws in his voice are what makes it so good.
For all those who said 'Nirvana', please leave this board forever.
>enjoying music
Kill yourself
>tfw still no official release of Illiteracy Will Prevail
What is grunge exactly?
1. The Smashing Pumpkins
2. Pixies
3. Nirvana
4. Rusty
5. Alice In Chains
Weezer is grunge?
>Alice in Chains
>Grunge
This whole thread is like a fever dream.
>arguing about genres
How very plebian of you all. Exactly what I've come to expect from Sup Forums.
I'm not even arguing anything this entire thread is cancer.
1. Nirvana - Undoubtedly the least pleb on the list, not only are there pop songs really good, so is the experimental shit
2. Pearl Jam
3. Sound garden
4. Alice in Chains
5. STP
Would you classify Meat Puppets, Pixies, and Melvins as grunge?
>mfw all these poser plebs who weren't there and don't even know what grunge meant
1. Tad
2. The Screaming Trees
3. U-men
4. EARLY Green River
5. Silverchair
Love power rankings.
1. Soundgarden
2. Alice in Chains
3. Nirvana
4. Pearl Jam (although i think they're a top tier band, and not really grunge per se)
5. Wellwater Conspiracy (don't expect anyone to agree, just living through the 90's in my late teens, this was the band.)
Meat Puppets: no...psychedelic cowpunk
Pixies: no...college rock
Melvins: no, but close...proto sludge metal
Thinks music is rigid by genre.
They're grunge. Look at the names you've given their "style". Name 10 other bands in each of those "styles". You can't. Because you're splitting hairs. They're all grunge.
Pffft.
Excellent point.
"Grunge" isn't just a synonym for "early 1990s alternative rock."
No, it isn't. Another excellent, astute point. What else you got, kid?
That's not even an argument.
No, it isn't. An argument isn't required. You gave a truism. Work is hard. The sun is bright. Great job. Again, what else you got?
If butthurt was logic your conclusions would be valid.
Wow. Good luck, lad.
frogstomp age silverchair, amirite?
this is correct despite the previous shitposts in this thread
your bullshit genres are bullshit
but you are correct in that neither of those bands are grunge
where do i start with screaming trees
i've heard their collab ep with beat happening but that's it
>Soundgarden
>Alice In Chains
>Mudhoney
>The Screaming Trees
>Nirvana
STP & Pumpkins only get honorable mention because they werent from Seatle. Melvins & Pixies are respinsible for grunge sound as godfathers while not being grunge themselves. PJ was just clean safe arena rock.
Who needs luck when you've got skills.
Grunge isn't even a genre. That's just independent rock from Seattle 1988-1995.
>Early Soundgarden
My man, they have plenty of gems from their early days
youtube.com
Has never participated in the music industry. Success is 100 percent luck. But if you don't want me to wish you luck, then eat a hairy cock, lad.
>PJ was just clean safe arena rock.
>implying they all weren't
I Nearly Lost You is their most accessible
Let me fix it for you
1 Alice in Chains
P O W E R G A P
2 Soundgarden
3 Nirvana
P O W E R G A P
4 Stone Temple Pilots
5 Pearl Jam
Might be what it takes for you to be successful. Ain't bad advice with your attitude.
his songwriting is average and so is his voice
Say what you want about songwriting. I disagree, but you can have your opinion. There was literally no one with Kurt's voice in the early 90s. There was no one (for better or worse) with Axl Rose's voice. A unique, identifiable voice was the calling card for success with early 90s rock. Kurt was absolutely in that discussion.
no u
I have the same voice from the same problem. Acid reflux ate his vocal cords.
His voice is nothing special considering the massive amounts of artists who sound almost identical. He made decent music but is overrated as fuck
I don't want to argue, but name 3 singers who had a similar sounding voice. Not "rough, agressive voice." But similar sounding. Name 3. Or 2.
If you can't let's just say it. Chris Cornell is the voice of Grunge. Beyond the Wheel et al.
>Hole
>Frank Zappa
>Son House
>Nirvana
>Die Antwood
Fucking plebs get on my level
>Implying James Brown isn't the GOAT
what about Mad Season?
layne staley become the epitome of grunge vocalist for me. fuck kurt
And he's still got it too.
I saw himive a couple months ago and he can belt like a motherfucker.
Absolutely worthwhile album.
My bro and I play Wake Up as a tuneup song. Simply great vocals, great bass line, and some good rock guitar on top of that.
Go away. You're worse than Hilter. And worse than a shistorm. You're worse than Shitler.
Hating on Nirvana, let alone not placing them no.1 on """grunge""" lists is the easiest way to know that you're a dirty plebeian
this
Wake Up is a good one. Long Gone Day really does it for me though.
Yeah, me too. Layne Staley's last part--"I fear agin like then.." still makes my skin crawl, 20+ years later.
He has something like the 10th~ highest range in rock history laddy.
>living through the 90's in my late teens
how fucking old are you mate
He literally doesn't, not even fucking close.
You could find 500 shitty power metal singers that show more range in one song than he did in his entire career.
40. U?
youtube.com
I'm a man. I'm 40. These are just kids...
concerthotels.com
I'm just going off of this my dood.
He doesn't have the best, but it's still pretty damn good.
YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH HERE COMES THE ROOSTER
ALICE IN CHAINS ISN'T GRUNGE
this. They were objectively the best grunge band. Their (Kurt's) song structures were simple but incredibly effective, his lyrics were abstract but uncompromisingly honest
>i travel through a tube and end up in your infection...cmon that's brilliant
and their sound was dense with raw emotion, the guitars wailed and the drums smashed and it all sounded like one last riot before the apocalypse. Name another fucking grunge band that conjure up that same tidal wave of feeling, or really any band in general
pro tip: you can't
That is an old Leadbelly song.
