Meh

meh

Oh fuck off. This is the best gangster movie ever.

Haha.... no.

Honestly, it's entry level stuff like all scorsese flicks.

First half: Near God tier gangster film
Second half: A rat with a coke problem/ meh tier

Scorsese's cinematography is definetly boring but the story is amazing.

>Watch Goodfellas
>They're all bad fellas

the story is tv stuff

what's so great about "hey i'm a gangster it's so cool"

whoa i had to scroll back and read your post again

thats so true

That's generous.

Nothing. Gangster movies are almost always garbage, Goodfellas is no exception.

>De Niro's and Liotta's names don't match up with their heads
>Pesci's does

pleb spotted

you only liked the parts of the movie that glorified being a gangster but the second half you found meh because shit starts to get fucked up and everything falls apart

If the greatest movie ever made doesn't impress you, there's no point in living.

Are you from Detroit?

>yfw its called Goodfellas because they're Badguys

>le contrarian meme

Kinda like The Wolf of Wall Street in a sense.

Yeah i don't know abotu the best movie ever made but it is one of 7 films I've seen I have given 10/10. I can't ever recall being os thourgly entertained by a film and so gripped by a film even when watching it for teh 5th time knowing how everything turns out it is still almost as engaging. What I can say is, in my own opinion obviously you are free to disagree, it is by far the best Mob / crime related film I've ever seen.

Again IMO Goodfellas > Carlito's Way > Once Upon a Time in America = The Godfather Part II > The Godfather

I Think Carlito's way is under rated as fuck (I know it get's a lot of praise but I think it's DePalma's best, Pacino's best and the praise it gets does not reflect the fact that I find it better than The Godfather)

I am happy to proven wrong however as at least it would mean we were having a discussion about film for once.

Nice trips, but its story is nothing compared to the Godfather. Scorsese's style is what makes Goodfellas a great movie

I like Carlito's Way, I don't know about De Palma's best though (I've always really enjoyed Mission Impossible).

Also, I really prefer Pacino's early stuff, which is really understated and great (especially Serpico). Nothing like his later meme-tier stuff. So, I can't really agree with you. I think that Godfather I and II are superior, at least substantively, if not stylistically

Nice double dubs.

I agree with you for the most part but in that power ranking even if you are talking about the directors cut of OUATIA I would still rank it above The Godfather

Casino>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Plebfellas

Trips, very impressive, and sorry I guess what I said was worded poorly, I don't think it's Al's best performance necessarily but my favorite of his films desu, I know that is far from a popular opinion but it's how I feel, and I would rank Pacino's films different to most IMO CW > Dog Day Afternoon (maybe biased im a lumet fanboy) = Heat (Mann's best IMO)> Serpico > Godfather > Glenn Gary Glenn Ross. I honestly think CW is a fair bit better than Scarface, again I can understand why people would disagree though. and yes unfortuatley Al has gone down hill since his Oscar yo uare right his current mindset is "how do I convey this emotion? I guess I'll just yell my lines" where as in The Godfather Trilogy he could convey far more intensity with just a glance.

And I can understand 100% why you would prefer The Godfather movies and I certainly like them, but I appreciate them more than I enjoy them where as I found Carlito's Way more engaging and entertaining and ultimately that is where my judgement lies rather than how well something is made.

Then I guess I'm Pleb'n'Proud

Yeah I really like Heat, and I like Pacino in it, although I see some of the aspects of his "over the top" delivery in there. But nowhere near as bad as Devil's Advocate, or Any Given Sunday (although I still like AGS a lot).

And I totally get the entertainment factor in some movies, despite their flaws. I think that's why I like Mission: Impossible so much, it's fun and has some really iconic visuals (that were parodied to death), even though it's not technically perfect

Pic related is 10x better than that garbage.

Yeah DeNiro acts circles around Pacino in Heat IMO

Yeah the first MI was fun as fuck it got the right balance of old school fun Bond and serious Bourne movie. Also as an aside one of the reasons I love DePlama is fuck is he versatile as a director, hes tackled basically every genre and IMO has at least one "Good" if not "Great" entry in all the major genres.

Honestly as much as I love Scorsese it makes me a bit sad when he keeps falling back on Mob / Crime and Leo, even if he nails it, like Tarantino I'd like to see him do some things that were a bit different like when he did "The King of Comedy" "After Hours" or "Bringing Out the Dead"

All the IM movies are fun as fuck even the less good ones like II and we have Based DePalama to thank for it I think
nailed it with the balance of the film and DePalama as a genre all-rounder

kek

He was so Good in donnie brasco
Shame he had to carry it all by himself

My personal favorites are DDA and panic in needle park though
Where he Steps Out of his gangster persona and delivers an amazing performance

*MI sorry but I assume you knew what I meant

Donnie Brasco was great sorry I Fuggetabutit

I agree, but he became a meme too, it just took him longer
Yeah Scorsese, IMO, has started phoning it in, just like Pacino and De Niro did. But I still think he made a great movie when he combined Mob/Crime and Leo in the Departed. One of my 10/10s

Oh they are undoubtedly all great bar Gangs of New York which I didn't really get into but it would just be good to see him experiment, I mean if he keeps putting out films like The Departed I'll always see them but it's nice to see him change it up even if i don't love the final product like in the case of The Aviator.

Once Upon a Time in America

Yeah, four hours about a weirdo that tries to rape someone out of nowhere. Way better, yup

Reverse devil trips speak the truth.

Scorcese is not the kind of guy to do big camera tricks or spin the story on it's head.

It's just a clear chronological story of some great characters in a given time in history. And it's all told perfectly.

Goodfellas is the best gangster movie of all time. Nothing else compares.

Give me N.

That's true of his big features, but he has gotten away from some of that with movies like Hugo. Scorsese also directs a lot of documentaries (I really liked No Direction Home which was his Bob Dylan biography). He just comes out with a new Leo movie every few years to milk the cash cow and fund his passion projects

this

I just watched Carlito's and it was amazing indeed. Top 5 Gansgter pics imo: Godfather 1, Eastern Promises, White Heat, Cercle Rouge, and Heat with honourary mention to This Gun for Hire (pic related)

Goodfellas > The Godfather

search your heart, you'll know it to be true

>what you've said is true, from a certain point of view

thanks for the wisdom, ben

Bonasera...Bonasera...

Are you from a third world country? I really don't get people like you that bring up movies that have been played to death on basic cable for 20 years ad nauseam. What is left to talk about?

Goodfellas is amazing but it's an outlier as far as Scorcese goes

It baffles me that garbage like Mean Streets is held in high esteem - Movie is shakycam central, contant yelling and ad-libbed dialog and so low-budget Scorcese has to fucking act in it. But you constantly get hipsters going "his early stuff was best :^)))" because they're assmad Goodfellas got so popular and mainstream

Goodfellas was his technique reaching critical mass tbqh. I don't think Scorcese himself understands very well what made it great either, given how weak and disjointed Casino (which is not a bad movie) is compared to it

Are there any good Wheel of Fortune games out there?
I kind of want to play it right now.

I dunno, Taxi Driver was relatively low budget and featured a Scorsese cameo, and that movie is great. I think all of Scorsese's phases have their pros and cons. At the end of the day he can tell fun and interesting stories, featuring bad ass characters, with above average camera work

from my point of view, the godfather is better

The only Docos with him in it I've seen is "A Personal Journey Through American Film", so I may check those others out, thanks for the recs

I prefer Goodfellas but I'm not going to try and tell everyone who prefers The Godfather that they're wrong

The King of Comedy is the best Scorsese kino
prove me wrong
you cant

WELL, THEN YOU ARE LOST

The Godfather > Goodfellas

Fixed.
You're welcome! ;)

Not him and I love goodfellas, but I would argue that a Bronx tale is better

>batsposting replaced by shit posting

YA FUCKIN FEEL STRONG?

this so much

loved the first half, second was... okay, kinda

yeah, you need to not be a retard to appreciate it, unlike scorcesse's flicks

When it comes to stand alones, I agree but when factoring Godfather 1 + 2, it's no contest.

don't get fuckin fresh

>comparing it to godfather
godfather 2 kind of, even then most of godfather was about the family once they had money and power,
Goodfellas was just about a group of small time gangsters who had a cool story to tell.

Godfather was about the boss of the family
Goodfellas is about the lives of the made men (well they weren't made, but they were practically made)

Sopranos > all mafia related media

I would add about Goodfelllas, at least there's a rise and fall aspect to it. Godfather 1 + 2 is literally "Now I have become The Godfather".

Not really.

Any dumb faggot can get a coke addiction. That has nothing to do with the mafia. The first half is a gangster movie, the second half is Drug Inc.

godfather probably wouldve done the same if it was only one movie. idk, hard to tell.

plus goodfellas was based on real events, hard to really control how it ends

you jew motherfucker you

Godfather 2 is the erosion of Michael's family. While not as dramatic as the total collapse of a crime organization, the two Godfather films certainly follow a typical dramatic structure

...

I loved the second half. Him making the pasta all yaked out and paranoid dealing with the guns and helicopters was hilarious.

>80 posts in and no one has posted the superior Scorsese gangster flick
It is a known fact that Scorseses best
movies are remakes of existing movies
>b-but muh taxi driver
carried by De Niro
>b-but muh raging bull

>b-but muh king of comedy

Casino > Goodfellas
