What's the best comedy movie you've seen, Sup Forums?

Amazon Women on the Moon

>best

It's definitely up there, but best?

I always laugh hysterically when I watch it though, especially with Timothy Dalton's character.

It's definitely up there goddamn I love it. Burn After Reading is up there with it for me.

Blue Streak
black knight
A Knight in Camelot

Animal House is my favourite, but I recognize I only love Boone and Otter because I grew up with Bruono and Boots.

Recently, The Nice Guys was my favourite comedy.

it's pretty good
but if it's "the best comedy movie" you've seen, then you should go back to réddit

>black knight
I watched that so much growing up. What is it with Martin Lawrence and crap projects?

laughable man

the osborne cox scenes were all fantastic but i thought that the rest of the film wasn't that interesting or funny

This is my favorite. Some Like it Hot is the best though.

He's great in Veep.

Team America World Police

Do you think she smells like cat piss? I do.

I don't know but I hope he does not make Bad Boys 4

wat

>especially with Timothy Dalton's character.

One day, I'm going to just marathon everything with Timothy Dalton in it because I fucking love him. He devours that fucking scenery every time I've seen him.

if that's the best comedy you've seen then I feel sorry for you
the thing is these movies are considered unfunny trash in britain
you, the american, only find them funny because of the zany accents and lingo
spaced/shaun of dead/hot fuzz/worlds end are to britain what big mama's house is to america and viced-versa

youtube.com/watch?v=WfICiLbwz8I

>but i thought that the rest of the film wasn't that interesting or funny

>the thing is these movies are considered unfunny trash in britain

Britain literally hates everything to come out of Britain, including the EU

HOT ROD!

Are you trolling or are you genuinely that out of touch?

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are endlessly quoted and considered classics.

I don't really care if you approve of what I find funny, but the accents and Britishisms aren't what I find funny in the movie. The movie is bursting with silly visual gags and just about every line in the movie is a set up for a joke later in the movie.

I don't even like Spaced and World's End that much.

When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.

...

I genuinely enjoyed McGruber. It was an SNL skit stretched out to 90 minutes, but it was fucking funny.

>Any British """"""""""Humor"""""""""" is funny

Blazing Saddles is probably my all time favorite.

But obviously In The Look blows everything else out the water. To the point it's really not worth mentioning, because it's given.

Animal House will always be my holy grail. Airplane is a close second. Hot Shots Part Deux gets an honorary mention, because the first time I saw the opening with Saddam I lost my shit.

Also Borat, This Is Spinal Tap, and Life of Brian.

>you, the american, only find them funny because of the zany accents and lingo

Why are you making assumptions? Certainly it couldn't be the dialogue, or the CONSTANT foreshadowing of events.

>Swear box, all proceeds go to the church
>[shot of Angel slamming coin into the box]
>Leslie Tiller was FUCKING murdered

>Nicolas Angel chasing the shoplifter
>He finds the swan he and Butterman never caught
>Actually takes a second whether or not to catch the swan or the shoplifter

>Everyone and their mum's packing 'round here
>Later on in the film the with farmer guy who is part of the city's council, his mother tries to gun down Angel with a shotgun

And this shit is everywhere. Not even foreshadowing stuff, just general progression like when Angel is asking all of the ages of the patrons in the pub, etc.

McGruber was the first good SNL movie since Wayne's World.

Most people say cigarettes or rape.
I think it's more like strawberries.
You mean 3?

>nobody checking them digits
For shame

yeah that scene is the climax of the unfunnyness

That's definitely the hallmark of their comedy, endless throwbacks and references and subtle foreshadowing. I really enjoyed it when I figured out the pub names in The World's End.

There's no helping you then, man.

Impressive

Edgar Wright is a comedic genius. He just is.

dogma master race

...

Allow me to be the clichéd poster in bringing up Monty Python.
Life of Brian > Holy Grail

no lie i fucking hated this movie, i understood that it was purposefully stupid and still fucking hated it

Dodgeball

I unironically think Meaning of Life is better than either of those.

I haven't seen this pasta in a while.

Maybe it's time that I take a break from Sup Forums.

In Bruges. I would say "The Guard" but I can't understand their fucking accents

I feel like the best comedy film should be one which doesn't rely on pop culture references or parodying so it will still be good in 100 years

It's very difficult picking out the best, but here are three I found extremely funny:

Ferris Buehler's Day Off
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
Airplane!

Tropic Thunder

>that opening with chapman giving the mother shit for trying to enforce gender roles on her newborn child

Ahead of their time.

What We Do In the Shadows

others

Hotrod
MacGruber
Step Brothers
40 Year Old Virgin
Anchorman
Zoolander
Blades of Glory
21 Jump Street
Dodgeball
Tropic Thunder

no specific order, but generally comedy movies are better when they are fresh or current year

I really enjoyed The Guard but didn't find it funny. It's more of a tragedy than a buddy cop imo

Hot Fuzz doesn't rely on the action cop movie genre's existence to be funny. It's only enriched by it. It's a perfectly competent movie without the parody angle.

this and monty python and the holy grail re my favorite comedies

Best? Dr. Strangelove. My favorite? Waiting for Guffman

I'm sad when I think about the shitty sequels some of these movies got.

this.

never laughed so hard watching a movie.

Team America desu

>You wanna be a big cop in a small village? Fuck off to the model village.

Name

22 Jump St was great.

But yeah that's it.

I laughed so hard throughout this one. So over the top all the time.

>wait through a whole boring movie
>m night shyamalan
>DICK JOKE

Pearl Harbour sucks and I miss you

have you seen simon peggs other flicks? hot fuzz is least funny of them, pretty shit really.

GOAT!

Cigarettes and cat piss then. Definitelly not strawberrys. Cheap cigarettes, store bought beer and cat piss. Man I want to fuck her so bad.

>M Night Shyamalan

The scene is maybe 1/3rd into the film.

anyone try watch this shit? couldn't make it past twenty minutes and I've been eating Andy Samberg's shit since Lazy Sunday.

youtube.com/watch?v=sRhTeaa_B98

might be my autism where I can barely hear lyrics if the instruments audio is around the same level as the vocals.

With very honorable mentions to:

Toy Story
My Favorite Year
The Dish
Kind Hearts and Coronets
An American Werewolf in London
The Apartment
Harold and Maude
The Big Lebowski
Snatch.
The Graduate
Airplane!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Shaun of the Dead
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Groundhog Day
Bottle Rocket
Annie Hall
Tootsie
The list can go on...

Aged very poorly, but it was pretty great when it came out. Some films just don't stand the test of time. Try watching American Pie again, holy fuck.

Was literally about to post this while reading all the replies. Its ok user, we're all in this nightmare together. Forever.

Best?
>the big lebowski
Favorite?
>Napoleon dynamite

>deftly combines linguistic witticisms, sight gags (both subtle and pronounced), musical dissonance, observational humor, character idiosyncrasies and circumstantial plot comedy all in one sequence
>does this with solid cinematography and a keen eye for his actors' strengths and weaknesses without compromising the core themes of the film for a cheap laugh

Ant-Man was fun but it still makes me sad of what it could have been with Wright's genius at the helm.

In the Loop
Withnail and I

Underrated Kino

My favorite

I know you're about 14 because of this opinion. I have literally never met anyone 20+ who didn't like Shaun or Hot Fuzz. World's End I will grant, is divisive.

Bridesmaids

You'd better be a woman or baiting for angry nerds like myself

congrats on your shit taste.

Dumb and Dumber

Kind Hearts & Coronets, or Withnail & I

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

>monty python

can't believe i watched this shite with my friends in elementary school

DONT HEW FAKIN DU ET CUUUUNTH

This is probably one of the most quoted movies in my group of friends

BUT BLACK DYNAMITE, I SELL DRUGS TO THE COMMUNITY

Burn After Reading and Grand Budapest Hotel gave me the biggest out loud laughs.

CODE KANSAS

Hot tub Time Machine

I don't know why but I love it. Great chemistry.

office space

One part of Hot Fuzz that bothers me every time I watch it is the part during the climax, right when he comes into town, where there's the shop lady shooting at him from the window. All the kids run into her store at the same time, and the prime joke here is that there's been a sign there all movie that says "Only ONE school child at a time" and like 10 of them run in at the same time.

But all the kids running in causes the woman to fly backwards from the window like she was hit from something while yelling. I just never got it.

Honestly? The South Park movie. When Matt and Trey were at their creative peak and felt like they had nothing to lose so just made what they wanted to make.

The result is the funniest movie I've ever seen, tbqhwy senpai

The sequel is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Few recycled jokes as expected but a fantastic parody of the future and has some great laughs. Obviously not as good as the original

good job baiting all these retards

my n word
I'm sure its been done to death and back, but "yeeeeaaaaah..." is still my favorite quote to the day

it's not a tragedy Calvary was a tragedy, The Guard is def a comedy one of the best

Legitimately one of my top 5 favourite Comedy movies. I quote with mates still after seeing it years ago.

"YOU SEE THAT SHIT? I THREW THAT BEFORE I EVEN WALKED IN THE ROOM?"

Super Troopers
Police Academy 2
A Good Day to Die Hard
