One of the working titles for HL2 was Half Life: Lambda Force. An early storyboard details why the lambda symbol was used, the science behind HL1, etc etc

There's a vortigaunt preacher in the game.

well, let me clarify. That was HL:LF was going to be a 4th expansion for HL1 and eventually grew to be HL2

the girl from portal and Gordon meet up in "portal-life" and do shit that is interdasting.

All the Valve games take place in the same universe. Portal 2 almost certainly takes place as a result of the invasion of the Combine and well after whatever events that transpired in the Half-Life saga. At the very least, Earth is habitable enough to have open wheat fields, suggesting that the Combine did not succeed in their terraforming goals.

If you know everything about Half-life then tell me when will Half -life 3 be realese.

"When it's done"

That answer is not clear, you failed me!!!

I knew that I'm not fucking retarded ^_^ I saw him when I was ilke 6 and never forgot him.

this i kinda knew

no

Not true. However yes, Portal and the HalfLife series are in the same universe.

Yup when it's done.
My life is Half-Life, guys. I've been around this game ever since I can remember. I finished the game when I was 6. Before that I'd just piss around in the game. I understood the story seriously by the time I was 8. That was also the year I got my headcrab hat. I loved it so much, I wore it whenever I went to bed. When I was 9, I got a crowbar. I proudly displayed it in my room on the wall. I also got a Gordon Freeman action figure that year. It also came with a little headcrab, crow bar, gravity gun, and pheropod. When I was 10, I got a zero point energy field manipulator replica, a book about the development and story of HL2 (Raising the Bar), and a headcrab plush. When I was 11, I got a Civil Protection gas mask. I tried to LARP, but none of my friends knew what HL2 was. So I got into CW:HL2RP. A little bit after that, I discovered porn. But I've only ever fapped to HL2 porn. Literally. Just Google 'HL2 Porn'. Then when I was 12, I started game designing. I made maps for HL2. Every essay I got assigned in school I somehow related it to HL2. When I was 13, I got a Vive. I began devving in Unity, but with HL2 models and HL2 plots. That brings me to where I am now, 14, (mods dont ban me) making HL2 mods and an HL2 RP server.

This game means everything to me.

>this I kinda knew

That's interesting cause I pulled all of that out of my ass

Forgot to mention, the only video game I played when I was like 6-10 was HL2 Games. Mostly HL2: Deathmatch

Half Life: Lambda force is a real thing. I meant 'I kind of know' as 'I've heard of it', which I have.

Why isn't the point about Portal 2 accurate? I thought the devs said that Portal 2 takes place at least a couple centuries after the first game and that the first game took place roughly at the same time as Half-Life 1. If that's the case, Chell awakening from her stasis occurs far after the Combine invasion (sometime in the 2200s or later whereas the Combine invasion was sometime in the early 2010s).

That's a stupid question I mean questions about like the plot and shit.

Guess you don't know everything about half life then.

I'm not denying that Half-Life 2 and Portal are in the same universe, because they are.

I'm denying that every Valve game is in the same universe.

Ok, so if that is the case, and Chell does indeed wake up from stasis centuries after the Combine invasion, the presence of human cultivated grasses in the fields outside of Aperture Science would suggest that the Combine failed to terraform Earth as they intended. The exact fate of the Combine is unknown but we at least know this much about the state of planet Earth.

I'm thinking about making a half life 2 mod about the 7 hour war, and it would be set in 2001. Is this alright? I'm sure the combine invasion would have happened sometime around the late 90s - early 2000s because of the tech Black Mesa was using.

>8 years old
>Got his headcrab hat
>That hat was released in something like '05 or '06
>OP is 18 - 19 years old

Fuck, I feel old as shit. (I know this is all fake bullshit though)

OP is 14 years old.

Op should be banned.

I fucking lost it, thanks for the keks

He wasted half of his life on a video game that will never have a third episode.

The 7 hour war would be 2001, yes. 2000 or 2001.

No that's not what I'm saying. PORTAL AND HL2 ARE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE. TF2, PORTAL, HL2, AND L4D2 ARE NOT IN THE SAME UNIVERSE.

I don't think portal takes place that far into the future, but it's possible it would be after the combine. The Felid wheat doesn't prove anything though, since in half life 2, episode 2, it proves plant life still exists in the combine world.

Kek be praise!

It's an overrated series with a terrible fanbase.

Probably not, but I'll bet I can tell you something you don't know about vaginas.

If you know everything then tell me who ate all the donuts and why we have to wear these ridiculous ties?

Portal 2 doesn't take place in the future.

Fanbase is great. Underrated series.

Probably. Haven't had sex-ed yet.

wat if I told you GORDOM was a GIRL

Half Life 3 will never happen

barney was always there
love him
respect the guy

All valve games? where does left4dead fit in?

I know : (

Gordon Freeman was voiced by George RR Martin

Mutagen strain of the headcrab infestation during the 7 hour war.

Left 4 Dead? It's TF2 that would be a concern.

that's why they call it half life

half-chan 3

hahaha

You're a fucking loser

Fuck you. How am I a loser? It's possible that I will be one of the devs for a future Half-Life game.

Not really, tf2 takes place sometime in the 1960s, well before portal and half life, so it's possible it could take place in the same universe.

How bout this factoid: Half-Life 2 forever ruined storytelling in video games.

Oh yeah good point. But then that would mean TF2 is totally off-canon because the characters are like half-retard and all the guns- yeah i odnt see that being possible.

yep, just after day of the defeat
it's mentioned in the wiki and comic the soldier went to germany to kill nazis 3 years after the war was over

Are you kidding me? Half-Life 2 MADE story telling in video games.

>Cave Johnson
>Gordon Freeman

OP is a full blown laaser.

I remember being in 5th grade, putting on my HEV-Suit jacket and walking to the bus. Once on the bus, I would pull out my MP3 player, scribbled with lambdas, and play this song:

GTFO

Yes. As in, every single game since has ripped off it's linear approach. Screw subtlety. Screw optional in-game readables to enhance world building. Let's just make them all scripted sequences. Don't get me wrong, HL2's story is great and absolutely DOES have subtlety, but its method of story telling is just a lazy cop-out when in the hands of less talented developers.

DO YOU SUCK DICKS?

how about this there was one point an hl2: episode 4 and 5 that was being developed by arkane studios

There actually are in-game readables, just look at Black Mesa East. There's a few in Eli's lab. If you need some highlighted piece of paper with a story on it to be shoved in your face so you can understand the story, then you are an idiot.

Why does it suck?

It doesn't suck, it is the greatest game of all time.

Care to explain why?

The Story

The reason we will never see half-life 3 is because the most important character in this series of games is dead and it would not make sense to go on without him.

And if you are thinking of Gordon Freeman, who is alive and well, you are wrong character. Although it is true that in the world of Half Life, Gordon goes from being a man who has nothing to do, a respected and loved being, although he is not the most important person in Half Life.

Who is Eli Vance. The leader of the Resistance. The person who tells you why where you are in Half Life 2. Without going too much for the branches, throughout the game one of the objectives that is repeated in going Eli, because they only do capture it. And the last time you save, this time from the hands of a rebellious traitor, your teleporter fails and instead of jumping in space, you jump in time. You reappear in the future, when the rebellion has already begun.
And the reason the rebellion began is neither more nor less than that because Gordon Freeman disappeared with Eli, his daughter and his assistant. The characters that were left behind, when Gordon appears again, take him as an impostor who wanted to get rid of the Resistance leader so that the rebellion never took place.

After this, the new goal of Gordon is to rescue Eli again, and when he does, the story freezes to be resumed with a series of events that again lead Gordon to defend Eli, who this time promises to tell you what is What I wanted to tell you. But before he does, he dies.

As you can see, the story of Half Life 2 revolves around Eli Vance, leader of the Resistance, and with him dead, it does not seem worthwhile to follow the story. Personally this motive does not make much sense, and if from Valve really wanted to do more games of Half Life would draw ideas from under the stones to follow the story of this so beloved title.

underrated post

its possible that you and your family will get murdered in their sleep tonight if you don't reply to this post.

ugh

Also, when Chell goes to the moon, the Earth's oceans aren't visibly drained. However, the Combine had been draining the Earth's oceans. Either it doesn't take place that far in the future or humanity won.

OMFG. I ALREADY SAID, THEYRE IN THE SAME UNVIERSE. IK THE COMBINE DRAIN THE OCEANS, IK IK IK

You must be stupid if a true, calm, honest comment triggers you.

But I'm not denying that they're in the same universe.

Or valve makes almost all its money from steam and doesnt bother making expensive videogames anymore...
