This thread is for the discussion of the language, culture, travel, daily life, etc. of Japan. Let's tark at randam in Japanese and English. Take it easy!
(Cross-thread) I used ESL to book it. they search a homestay for you. I think it was like 1000€ for school + homestay. you can check the prices on their homepage. I dont wanna advertise them but I just dont know where you could book this else.
I had 3 hours of school monday to friday and I learned quite a bit even tho Im beginner level. was a really good experience.

Bon travail, mon ami.

what's the difference between au revoir and adieu
Chase Rogers
I think this is too expensive for me. I'll probably stick to learning by talking with old people. Maybe I'll consider it for a month or so, if I don't have to pay for the homestay, and if it's a lot cheaper that way. Anyway, was your family nice? Did they cook good food?
Ryder Roberts
I think there are some 会話コーヒー or whatever they are called when japanese meet foreigner on purpose and you do like 20 minutes in english and 20 minutes in japanese.
Also there are foreigner meeting things on fb.
Evan Cruz
family was really nice. they were an old couple and made breakfast and dinner for me everyday. wish I could have talked a little bit more to them but my japanese was so bad
and afterwards you exchange numbers with a cute japanese grill?
Isaiah Diaz
Au revoir is used when you know that you will probably see the person again soon, I think.
Luis Gutierrez
さよなら = adieux
じゃあね = au revoir, salut
adieuxというのは感動的な感じを伝える。 現在では、映画とか以外珍しく使われるようだ
Cooper White
au revoir means that there is a possibility you will see him again adieux (litterally "to god") means you won't/ you can't see him again and you 'll probably see him in paradise
Dylan Sanchez

saying adieux when you can possibly meet someone again is considered very rude it means you don't want to see them again
I don't remember exactly but this guy had a pretty good explaination on what you could do to improve when visiting the country.
Juan Bennett

How do Koreans feel about Japan? I get the sense they've got somewhat of an inferiority complex with Japan and are culturally envious/admiring of them.
Kind of like, in the back of their minds, they might wonder why they weren't born as Japanese. Or am I totally off base here.
Can someone explain what does "余裕ぶりおって! " mean? I've looked up twitter/google to see when people use it, but I still can't figure out what does it translate to.

ここにいる日本人ってどういう経緯で4chにたどりついたわけ?
Anthony Russell
It's same as saying '余裕があるふりしやがって' i.e. 'you pretend as if it's nothing'.
