This band is pretty sick.

What is this, metal for girls?!

>RoS

Wow what what a pleb

Mayhem

...

Good choice

I always liked Nothing more than this. I and Chaosphere are nuts though. Koloss has some really solid material though; "Do Not Look Down", "Marrow", and "Demiurge" are solid pieces.

Seven thunder's roar by Stoned Jesus

...

Personal album of the year for me

Koloss is their best album I think

This is terribad

but what about this

I never really got into Gorguts, for whatever reason. I spent more time in Cryptopsy I suppose. Colored Sands was pretty snazzy though.

Anything by Dan Swano

Great ambient Black Metal right here. I listen to this whenever I have to write papers and whatnot for escuela. This and Vali's "Forlatt" are my go to for focus.

youtube.com/watch?v=u1djzeOGXTY

best album ever made by men

youd probably enjoy this then. One man celtic black metal.
youtube.com/watch?v=tv6z5psDw_k
pretty chill yo

>10/10
>Finish NBBMN right

I guess it's more atmospheric than ambient, but whatever, it was just a suggestion. More groovy Black Metal material coming through.

youtube.com/watch?v=XEMpI2PjNQ0

Actual good black metal

apparently meshuggah themeselves dont even know how to play I

youtube.com/watch?v=uQlHHEde-ho&t=169s

Awesome, thanks.

I did not know of this, it's a good recording for sure though. Especially at the break at 6:46 or so.

Tech wank coming through:

Nice one

Can't go wrong with Thou.
youtube.com/watch?v=Hi4z960q41A

Gojira's "Vacuity" has and likely will continue to be my favourite song of theirs. Perhaps that and "Ocean Planet" for the groove, and "Indians" for it's off-beat emotion. "End of Time" was always good too, but Possessed was more thrashy, before they found their sound.

Cracks in the Earth: Architects
I dig it

Thou's cover of "Lord of This World" is fantastic.

Crimson/Crimson II
>need I say more

You know it man. Did you check the Thou/The Body collaboration last year? Fucking insane.

Piss, meant to link it - youtube.com/watch?v=Ryntzw1xxac

VREID
Norwegian black metal, with a little thrash influence, especially in the drums.
Formed in 2004 after windir broke up. It's pretty brutal, definitely worth giving a listen to.
RAPED BY LIGHT is probably the best song to introduce them, it's awesome and a good example of their sound.

I'm going to throw in something I never see posted:

youtube.com/watch?v=M6aRDivISHA

And some heavy blues/stoner oriented material for good measure:

youtube.com/watch?v=z3dR6Iu8xTA

No I didn't. They are an odd band for sure. Are they still running that ancient website that looks like it was built in 2006? Thou is definitely a group that cares more for their output than mass-appeal. Thou's "Fourth of July" is heavy as a southbound pachyderm.

The Ten last seconds of life

Yeah, it's still going! The little post-rock elements in Heathen were a nice touch, but yeah, they seem to be content to do their own thing and let people like what they like, and I can get behind that.

Dååth are bizarre. I've heard them round and about but never sat down for an entire album.

Gonna dump Keeper here as one of my favourite albums from last year. - youtube.com/watch?v=IzJiUbq2XZY

Is this what you were referring too?

masstaden by vildhjarta is a fucking masterpiece

Borknagar. Anything by them

...

F*ck yes

>Band: Sylosis
>Album: Conclusion of an age
>Song: After lifeless years

That's one epic metal dong, good lyrics too

This is fucking snazzy. Thanks for the Rec..

I've loved Daath since I can remember. They were enveloped into the fold of admiration I developed with my first incarnation of love for Metal-variances.
At any rate, I didn't listen to much this year, and I likely missed out on a lot. I will however, add that to my list to listen to, and submit to the thread an album that had the greatest impact on my life:

youtube.com/watch?v=IArBw3XIzF4

Devin Townsend and Primus too have had a substantial impact on my life, but Lykathea Aflame for whatever reason holds sway.

OP
Metal is pretty broad term, what are most into, like what sub genres? Alternative, speed, technical, pop, death, 80s, black, Viking, ambient, southern, etc metal..

How are fans supposed to recognize that band name? Apart from any other edgelord font i mean. I can't read a fucking thing.

Good stuff, I always loved Empyreal:
