Fist Look of Amy Adams in Denis Villeneuve’s 'Arrival'

Could be the best sci-fi movie of the year and potential oscar contender according to reports.

>Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.
Sounds like shit tbqhwyfam.

It's all true.

I think it sounds good. Also great director and cast. Im hyped.

>Also great director and cast
I agree with you here but for some reason idea of aliens just hanging in there until humans figure something out sounds comical to me.

Wasn't this called "Story of your life" at some point?
Arrival it's such a generic title.

>Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.
>an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.
>an expert linguist
That's a job for a computer program.

>Taking place after alien crafts land around the world
Like, a whole fuckton of them just show up, unannounced?
Spoiler alert: they mean us harm.

Wasn't this called "Story of your life" or some shit?

Yes. It was retitled. Arrival is more of a marketable sci-fi title.

linguist as in noam chomsky

If it's faithful to the short story its more about ideas and philosophy and not about war. Think Bradbury, not JJ Abrams.

Temba, his arms wide!
Sokath, his eyes uncovered!
Not Shaka, when the walls fell.

bet she's a Cunning Linguist.

Nice. Love that type of science fiction

...

maybe Amy can get an oscar finally

>it's another spacewoman movie

>ideas and philosophy
>Bradbury

its bretty gud

The only other one that is jumping to my mind right now is Contact

Thanks

>great director

>double the Amy in November

Fuck yes

hazmat*

Prisoners and Sicario are pretty good

Between this, Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel, Garland's big budget Ex Machina followup with Portman and Scott's return (without Lindelf) to Alien it looks like our chances of getting some decent serious sci-fi in the next year are pretty good.
