Punk, even without it being pop punk is not that inaccessible as you think. The biggest bands affiliated in the punk scene have some really catchy songs. Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, The Stooges, Misfits all have at least some catchy tunes.

Pretentious people. All these posts come off as people actually thinking that they're highly intellectual and above others for listening to 3 chord progressions with heavy distortion and edgy nursery rhymes being screamed.
