help me build a VR Ready computer for 600$-800$

...

can do but it is going to be really shitty computer for today's requirements. if you are building a pc then invest in it.

>sell gift
>use to build even better computer
>VR is a gimmick
>????
>profit

shit. well im scared as fuck to mess with my current computer. which is supposedly fine besides the graphics card.

Also, you have a point.

bump for any more suggestions.

last bump i promise

i hate to shill reddit but go to /r/buildapc and give them a budget and you'll get something good

970 is the recommended card for vr. Honestly either sell that shit or wait until its more sophisticated.
>shitty rez
>overpriced
>overhyped
Dont fall into the money grab user

Post Speccy screenshot for more details on your current hardware.

>3.5

VR is still a gimmick at this stage of its life, hardware will change to much when it becomes viable to worry about it now.

>Intel Core i5 6500 3.2 GHz
>ASUS H110-PLUS
>Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2133MHz
>Sapphire Radeon RX 480 8GB Nitro+
>Phanteks Eclipse P400
>Kingston UV400 120GB
>Cooler Master B2 600W
> = 800$

Just don't buy anything that has AMD on it. That's the only advice you need.

>inb4 AMD nerdrage
You bought shitty hardware. Stop trying to get others to do the same so you don't feel like you've been conned

ask her for computer parts instead. it would bring the total cost down and you won't have to feel bad about selling a gift.

it's much more fun doing it yourself.

Edit:
It's prob around 700$ where u live

oh cool thanks lol

>help me build a VR Ready computer for 600$-800$

You're asking for the impossible. You need at least twice that much.

they don't build you a pc u dip they just give part configs like anyone else in this thread

its not impossible

OP here.
My Speccy.

I have a 1080 and a Vive - it's kinda worth it but not for all games. See if you like the games that are out right now, don't expect too much from Elite Dangerous VR (the aliasing problems are atrocious, it's still good VR though)

Also you might want to get 16 GB of memory for VR games (if you have 8 GB, get another of the same type/make)

So all I need is A New graphics card and ram?

1060 at least (roughly same as 970 which i have and vive runs fine on it)

this is me

I'd say probably? You could go new processor, but you'd have to spend a lot.

1060 over 970 if you can afford it.
1080 is slightly better, which is noticeable in VR - it all depends on your standards.

As to other stuff: get an SSD (250gb+)

How's your power supply?

800$ will get you the absolute most minimum specs for VR, which in a year from now will be completely outdated and you won't be able to play any newer games. Invest 400-600 more and it will last much longer.

Bitch you aren't gonna build a computer that can do vr for only $800

>sell 950
>pay difference
>get 970

Would 3.2 ghz be enough to process the controllers to where they dont lag?

I've heard people say that trying the Vive is like playing a 16 bit console for the first time, or playing Super Mario 64 for the first time. Like it's that game-changing in terms of the potential.

I'm getting a Vive for Christmas, and I'm pretty stoked.

depends on way more than just that

For sure but the typical controller is 3.6 ghz right?

Hello, I am a rookie to building a new desktop and I was suggested to come here for more advice/suggestions on this build from another thread I made earlier. Questions i have. I don't believe I need a water cooling system. Do I have proper fans though and is the case appropriate or more for a water cooling system? I don't believe I will be OC'ing, although I would like to play some of the latest games with atleast mid range resolution, am I doing alright? Please let me know what you think of this build so far, I would like to avoid making rookie mistakes. My Budget is 1500 , including the monitor and all. thnx.

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
CPU: i56600K (skylake)
HSF: NH-U12S
Motherboard: GigabyteZ170X-UD5
RAM: 16GBDDR4
HDD: 1TB
SSD: 240GB
Power Supply: 212 EVO
Case: Storm Striker.

i5-4590 is min spec @ (3.3)

water cooling is not necessary, custom fan can help for your processor. If your case flow is shit, get water cooling for your graphics card.

Hyper 212 EVO is a fan, not a power supply

this should be fine running high at least. VR on medium-high

also I think you're confusing something, maybe with WiFi speed or something else - the 3.6 Hz for a controller is weird. How'd you get to this?

Its what ive read most bluetooth and console controllers use sonce previous gen

If you don't plan and want to overclock, you'd better get the i5-6600 CPU, without the "k". It'd be cheaper. And if you're not going to overclock, the stock fan will do fine.
The case is most usually irrelevant. You don't need a fancy case for the computer to operate properly, and the most you need to care about is any USB ports.
And what power supply are you looking at? Googling "212 EVO" gives a CPU fan as a result.

you're thinking of what they use to wirelessly communicate, not how fast your processor is doing its thing. It's measured in the same unit (Hz), it's used for a different thing though. 3.2 GHz quad core processor would have to be slightly overclocked to make VR work. As to the controllers, it's referring to the wireless protocol bandwidth (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz)

To add to my own rant, bluetooth operates on 2.4 / 3.6 / 5 GHz

complete confusion on my part, it is a fan ... althought apprerantly the seasonic PSU i had earlier is shitty for this build

Get a case that is big enough for a good case flow - the outside can be boring as fuck

correcting myself, it's frequency not bandwidth, and it's WiFi at those ranges, bluetooth only has 2.4

Just make sure you get a power supply that will match your graphics card, which you didn't specify, turn that 6600k into 6600, and I think you'll be fine.
Since you're a rookie, you should look at the graphics card of your choice's specs, and see what wattage it takes, and what cable it needs. And you need to make sure your chosen power supply is capable of supplying that wattage over that cable. It's a matter of just comparing the specifications, seeing if you can find the thing in the card's specs in the power supply's specs. Pic related is my graphics card's requirement, and my power supply's specs.

VR expert here.

Vive is godly, shit is still coming out, the porn experiences alone make it worth it.
Check out Waifu Sex Sim

Also nVidia a shit, your rig is good, 8350 is a great Chip and still wrecks shit don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just drop $250 on an RX480 (THE VR card) (Gtx 970 is gimped shit and there's lawsuits going on over how shit that card is) and you're good. It's very easy to upgrade your computer it's all Lego

Good luck OP

thanks nigger
