When will we see a movie based in the 40k universe? I saw Warcraft today, and i thought that it could be done in the same style. What story would appease the normies?

Hopefully never. Warhammer is for stupid virgins who live vicariously through space marines: warrior monks who never get laid.

>When will we see a movie based in the 40k universe?

Fuck that. If the technology is so ready and good since at least James Cameron's Avatar in 2009 than where the fuck is my MechWarrior movie?

das it mane

First post best post.

40k has absolutely 0 appeal to anyone who isn't 13 or a manchild.

Warhammer Fantasy is a better setting for a movie or series since there is a clear divide between good and evil. 40k has no good guys, it's either space nazis, green brazilians, space elves, space liberals, robot zombies, or giant space bugs who are all equally shitty.

This. Get a fucking life OP. I'll respect your universe when it's not a million trillion mary sue faggots in indestructable armor fighting a trillion quintillion xenos.

Fucking pussy nu males.

It has the perfect background and lore for massive scale battles and glorious fighting.

Your claims show that you are heretic faggots.

I know, but that would be the easy way.
I want muh spesh marines.

Because 40k or fantasy isn't very compelling. It's just good fun.

There are some compelling stories in the lore of Fantasy, but 40k is a bit trickier to sell

I've never met anybody that's into 40K that's also a well adjusted adult. They usually live with their parents and don't have drivers licenses. If you think Warhammer 40K is an example of a well-crafted universe, or you even just enjoy it, and you're not in middle school, you are not qualified to comment on any other form of media.

*that is a well adjusted adult

been done

Space hulk would be approachable to normies. Lots of action. Everything could be introduced slowly.

Do you take everything so seriously? First of all, you are on Sup Forums.
I know what you mean, but i can assure you i am not a perma-virgin basement dweller, i am a normal guy who likes 40k.
Yes, for what it is, Warhammer 40k universe is very well crafted.
If you dont like it, you can gtfo from this thread and stop spreading heresy.

It's beyond niche. It would make a lot of people happy, but those people aren't nearly enough to bankroll an actual production. The origins story would be so beyond shit, only fans would get it. Picture the board room meeting.

>So...he's god?
>Not really
>But he can't die and has 18 clone sons?
>Yeah
>And they can die
>Well he dies
>But he's still alive on a chair on earth?
Yeah, it sounds stupid when you say it like that

Some things are better left unmade.

Horus Heresy novels were a mistake, all the more reason that shit should be glossed over.

>The Imperium exists
>people in it worship the Emperor as a God

That's all people need to know about that, at least at first. No one's saying all the exposition needs to be dropped at once.

Better leave the hardcore origins out.
But i think that a story from the imperiums perspective, facing an ork or chaos invasion and a bit of space battle would be fine.

That'd be a lot better. I don't particularly like the look of some shit from 40k, but that's whatever. It's still a super particular hobby, just don't think there is really a large enough fanbase to warrant it.

I've posted it here before, but I think the best 40k film would be on an Imperial world in the grips of a Chaos insurgency, which scales up from "a crime wave" as the protagonist hears in the beginning of the story, to an insurgency, to a full blown invasion. If Space Marines show up at all, it would be at the end, briefly. A good writer and director could combine war epic, psychological thriller, and supernatural horror to make a great 40k movie.

Knowing Hollywood though? It would be basically an Avatar remake where the blue aliens have better technology than humans.

Yeah i agree.

It would be very hard to produce a good 40k film for the general audience which captures the whole grim dark atmosphere.

Do you think that SJWs would be an issue?

alright fine i'll do it, I need some help though

Screw a movie. I'd kill for a tv series of 40k in the vein of BSG. At least with that source material the God ending would make sense

Just watch Damnatus. It's surprisingly good for a low-budget production.

Always wanted a story about an imperial guard invasion of a chaos tainted world. Go full starship troopers on the damn thing.

best way to do a 40k movie?

don't explain anything in the movie. give the basic intro that is at the start of every piece of 40k media, have it take place on an Agri world in the middle of an orc invasion, either focus on the PDF being slowly pushed back with the PoV on a single squad that get's whittled down over the course of the movie until they are all dead with the final scene having IG start to deploy, or a farmer trying to make it to the local hive though orc controlled terrority.

If you go that way I can imagine a story about a young girl being hounded by her family for being a witch and bringing heresy into her home. Then she's taken away by the black ships and trained to be a psycher in the imperium. Cut ahead to several years later and she's attached to her first unit.

>a million trillion mary sue faggots in indestructable armor
when everyone is a mary sue

no one is

Hopefully never, no director alive could take on something that deep and capture it well.

It would like trying to get a baby to make a movie about rocket science

>when everyone is a mary sue
>no one is

looks like someone doesn't know about'
Cato Sicarius

Or
>My village accuses me for heresy.
>They will lynch me.
>Agents of the imperium come to my village.
>I am saved.
>Get fed to the astronomican.

Sly Marbo.

>sly marbo once got into a staring contest with the Eye of Terror
>the Eye of Terror blinked

It's not top of the line quality but there's already a WH40K movie - John Hurt is a voice actor in it

Shit, supposed to post this on /tg/

>What story would appease the normies?

Fuck your fucking shit OP and fuck normies.

Of course SJWs would be an issue. Progressivism has basically won, at least for now, which is why a 40k movie would never get made. Or if it was made, no one would see it and everyone would hate it. Or it would be changed so drastically that they'd be better off starting somewhere else entirely. 40k would give them a hundred things to bitch about, including:

>The Imperium (fascists, xenophobes, etc)
>Aliens (them all being bad guys promotes xenophobia)
>The Emperor (patriarchy in space)
>The Imperial Cult (promotes monotheistic religion as anything other than evil)
>etc

>implying there isn't already one

So what if he is? This movie is absolutely irredeemable garbage. It's not even bad in an entertaining way. You can't even appreciate the effects because they look like they're from a Playstation 2 cutscene.

Thousands of generic fantasy movies that are rehashes of each other and you chumps want to bash WH40K

Of course the people who play the traditional game at comic and game shops are going to be a little bit off - but the story/setting itself is solid

> (OP)
>Hopefully never.

This.

As a stupid virgin who lives vicariously through space marines I hope it never gets normie recognition.

Those "problems" exist only because you are implying the Imperium are the good guys, which they aren't.

Because John Hurt is a cool actor

The point of the post was that there already is a WH40K movie

Way more people saw Lord of the Rings than actually read the books or even heard of Tolkien before the movie buzz was out.

Perhaps they could put a strong black female imperial officer, or show the eldars/tau in a more positive way.

Now all the basement dwellers will go on about heresy. Just imagine someone saying that to you in person, I wouldn't be able to control the cringe.

>progressivism is the problem

depends on the world. generally speaking, you praise the emperor, send in your tithe of material, men and money, and don't consort with xenos, you can do mostly whatever the fuck you want, depending on local planetary laws.

>patriarchy in the imperium

you've got the SoB and you can have planetary governors as women. hell you could even have a matriarchal world in it's entirety.

>imperial cult

on a hole, the various religions throughout the imperium are too varied and separated by so much space that the local religion just has the emperor as the chief deity, with either saints or the primarchs taking the other roles, and further dividing it down there at the local system level, further still by region in primitive worlds.

They're already starting to bitch about Slaanesh being a swipe against LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ's

>Just imagine someone saying that to you in person
Except you wouldn't, because standing in front of someone you would realize you are talking to a human who has different tastes and likes different things from you and thats okay. Rather than talking to a blue wall where for all you know you're talking to robots and you have no concept of different people and different views.

>Slaanesh being a swipe against LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ's
Well thats just wrong on them because Slaanesh is all about doing what you want and enjoy regardless of what anyone else thinks

To maddening excess, but still

Citizen, we got reports of you spreading heresy in this sector. What do you have to say in your defense ?

Make it about an eldar girl on the run from the imperium helped by a bunch of lovable but brutish ork boys who are acting on Gork's advice- lighthearted but can have scary moments, the more you stay away from the actual factions as a whole and focus on a small group the better

...

That's not even funny.

Do you think the film could sell if it was centered around a dark eldar party?

The one saving grace of 40k is that it's still autistic. There are more complex games out there, but the price barrier to entry and the complexity of the rulebooks keeps the normies away.

Making a movie of it would be a massive undertaking and could be complete turds. Just look at Warcraft. You cannot take an autistic hobby and translate it for normies and have them understand it on any level.

>centered around a Dark Eldar Party

hows about the first diplomatic meeting of the Dark Eldar and the Tau

the only way a 40k movie could work is if they did a loose adaptation so normies could find it accessible.

david lynch should do it

WH40k itself is a pretty big job. But there's alot you could work with. I'd say start off with something small and simple first. Maybe like a story about the Catachan fighting Tyranids on the jungle planets and shit.

Why not spaceship centered?
Battle fleet gothic had nice cutscenes.

wait is this a real thing?

I actually think snyder would make a good 40k movie. It has the potential to be game-changing like 300.

I like looking at the artwork. It reminds me of the ridiculous pulp art of the 80s, where everything is on steroids.

someone has to give a shit about it for their to be a movie.

warcraft gets one because WoW has existed for a longer point of time than the average age of its playerbase.

AssCreed getting one because AssCreed is huge and has always been ripe for KINO potential.

if they were going to make a movie about space marines, they'd have made a Halo film already.

This. Get a fucking life, user. I'll respect you as a person when you're not spending all of your personal time on a Japanese image board dedicated to anime.

>too wild!

It's just so stupid.

Here's what I think of your baby marines.

>butthurt IG fags identified
Make the IG the primary focus and all these fags will change their minds.

>someone actually made this shit
fuckin lol

>tfw no Ibram Gaunt band-of-brothers style miniseries
