Sopranos

Just finished season 1...

does it get better? when does it start to be "the greatest series of all time" ?

wew lad

Season 4 is where the real action starts.

...

season 1 was mehhhh... no real cliff hangers, no real tension in the plot... it was just enjoyable to watch

it's mostly a meme sorry OP

Ehh thats debatable big hoss

I was hooked the 1st time I saw Sil do his Godfather impression

Many keks for many season were had frm then on

Did you like it?

op here.... I used to watch mad men also but its slow as fuck bro so I gave up on it and watched all of breaking bad

If you couldn't appreciate the storywriting in the first season, just shut it off and load up Game of Thrones. You aren't prepared to handle the cerebral deconstruction of the american dream that comes in the later seasons.

whoa okay now we're talking

oh you're a pleb

yeah although i thought there would be more puzzling plot twists or something

Kek kill yourself if not troll

how that makes me a pleb you fag

literally nothing happened like the two seasons so i said fuck this show and watched breaking bad which is based.... yeah its slow also but the payoff is HUGE

because of all those things you just said you pleb

Pleb confirmed

You can not appreciate the narrative that will come later in the following seasons, that's why you are a pleb.

Aside from the first episode season 1 is weak when compared to the rest of the series. It's great television but the other five seasons are something else entirely. The sixth season in particular is in a league of its own.

Nothing happened?

This isn't some serialized story the way later television is, the Sopranos was made at a time stand-alone, episodic television was still the shit, and only slowly losing ground against the growing movement to create overarching, singular stories.

The Sopranos is not like Breaking Bad, a relatively tight narrative of x then y, of rising action and climax.

The Sopranos is still like what television used to be, each episode is on it's own, with only occasional connective tissue and the odd metaplot that sometimes gets the spotlight. A ton of episodes don't really need to be watched in any order, certainly not if you stick to single seasons.

You have to remember how tv used to be. And if you didn't like the first few seasons, you probably won't like the rest.

You don't deserve to watch the sopranos. You lack the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate it.

Its like feeding a retard a $200 steak. Hes gonna be just as happy eating spaghettios, because his palate is unrefined and he can't recognize the subtleties.

...

>You don't deserve to watch the sopranos
literally what the fuck?

>Its like feeding a retard a $200 steak
is that your go to analogy? fuckin fag

mad men fanboys are butthurt because their show is fucking over rated

agreed.

season 2 is gr8

well said honestly

I'm a professor of English Literature. I've dissected everything from Blood Meridian to Hop on Pop.

Film and to a greater extent, Television, are both drastically inferior to written text.

The Sopranos is one of the few execeptions.

Get. Fucked. Pleb.

Not rekt ( )
Rekt (√)

Wait til you get to shitty 5th season
>tony i need money for muh house project
>tony get out of your own house you male whore
>tony this
>tony that
Fucking Tony acts beta when around his wife.

Yes it get sbetter. but if you didnt enjoy season 1... i dunno. it's always good imo. great show. sort of even bette ron second watch

Now I wanna watch again. damnit

It's not a meme plot show

It's about deep psychological storytelling

And it only gets better

I'll tell you this much

if youre in it for the action and plot twists than TWD, HoC, & more recently GOT is more of your show (that show changes plot like every season to accommodate character arcs and "big surprises" ..atleast after season 3/4)

with the sopranos you have to enjoy the dialogue between characters, there are some payoff moments OP but focus on the narrative of the characters

seriously. I can't think of any role with a bette rmain character. tony did it so perfectly.

The orange juice pulp scene. epic
classic shit

plus not fapping ot meadow the red head cheer leader or russian. phew

The only thing you're a professor in is dick sucking

>I'm a professor of English Literature

what school? if you cant answer than FAG STATUS CONFIRMED KEKKKK

>how that makes me a pleb you fag

>literally nothing happened
>breaking bad which is based

lmao

what does that even mean "action"? it's a fucking character drama.

lmao fucking kill yourself my man

>implying that choosing breaking bad over mad men was a mistake

sounds like a smart move to me

no I did enjoy it but maybe I approached the series with very high expectations of "greatest show ever"-esque drama

You have to take into consideration that David Chase fired most of the writers from season 1 for not understanding his vision so the later seasons are definitely a step up. However if you didn't enjoy Mad Men, then we're on complete opposite wavelengths.

Sopranos before and after 9/11 were very different narratives.

Shit, all these hipsters getting mad over breaking bad just because it was popular never fails to amuse me

>MAJOR KEK

It gets better with every season until 4. It plateaued there. 5 sucked and 6 was some kind of sick joke on the fans. You still have to watch it all though. I love the series. Not so much for the story but for the characters.

A smart move for someone who doesn't want to bruise his brain

Right on the first episode.

Is it australian power hours already?

translation: it didn't have enough 'splosions for him.
Why do they let people under 20 post here?

It didn't, season 4 was easily the weakest season overall. It's the hipsters' go to season to appear unique in front of the other shit eaters.

Who the fuck even mentioned breaking bad? You sound like an advanced retard.

>6 was some kind of sick joke on the fans
The last 9 eps of season 6 were some of the best in the series

It's been a long time but I'm specifically thinking of the whole dream storyline. And in 5 the gay storyline.

the Kevin Finnerty saga was the peak of the series and possibly television.

>dat Join the Club ending scene

I haven't rewatched it since it was new. I just remember that the last 2 sucked, therefore making 4 the plateau for me.

>everyone on tv thinks they're Leonard fucking Maltin

I never got it, and I might be one of the biggest fans of the show there are. To each his own I suppose.
