"yes this is my album, but the more you look; that all are effected, to add to my book, you are welcome to ... it
the penalty is; you add your own autograph for others to...

... is where even i cant read it.

Yes, this is my album,

But learn ere you look;
That all are ???????,
To add to my book,
You are welcome to quiz it,
The penalty is;
You add your own autograph
For others to quiz.

Doris Hamilton.
Xmas 1912

Here is the next 2 pages
This shit is close to 100 years old, like damn

I guess it's either affected or expected on the third line. Can't tell though.

Yes, this is my album,

But learn ere you look;
That all are expected,
To add to my book,
You are welcome to quiz it,
The penalty is;
You add your own autograph
For others to quiz.

i think the '???????' is elected

I think it's expected, since it says in the next line about adding to their book.

Here is a bit of 1920s racism

There are a few drawings too

Something funny but the ???

the whale ???? nothing but
the truth so help my ~~~~

Doris Lee came up to tea
Sat at the table next to me
But for the Life of me
I couldn't see
what she had for Tea.
-First page.

i like the poem on the right, certain words i cant read though

lmao 10/10

2016 - 1912 = Over 100 years old

hilarious for some reason

Remember me when far away
And only half awake
Remember me on your wedding day
And send me a piece of cake

Marble cake?

I realized that after I posted it

And I don't know what this means, any guesses?

we may write our names in albums
we may --- them in the sand
we may chisel them in marble
with a firm and skillful hand
but the pages soon are sullied
and inscription fade away
and monuments will crumble
like all earthly things away
but dear friends here is our album
with pages snowy white
where my name is never sullied
but forever pure and bright
in this book of life, --- album
may your name be--- with care
and may all who hear have written
with their name forever there
-. Watts

We may write our names in ???
We may trace them in the sand
We may chisel them in marble
Write a firm ???? hand
But the pages
And inscriplion fade away
And monuments will ???
Lke all earthly things away
But Dean found there in ????
With pages snowy while
Where my home is ???
But bare pure and bright
This back of life, ????
May your name be braced with care
And may all when hear have ????
Write their name forever there.
- Second page, really unreadable.

>And I don't know what this means, any guesses?

Just a line from a friend

Almost spooky

Where'd you find this, OP?

i know, its pretty good. will save, thank you Mr Watts
and the user who could read that mess

I still don't understand the meaning

In the back shed in a box full of old books, this one looked the oldest so I took it

The rest were just old books from back then nothing of interest

But there was a photo album with a bunch of photos of buildings

One of the books was a present to my grandmother, here name is inside the cover of it

>I still don't understand the meaning

a line of text but represented by a washing line

Found this piece of paper tucked between the pages

Maybe a letter of some sort hard to read

trace them in sand
Gods album
traced with care

It's weird that they put the cross for the T beside it.

:(

>"Forgot to turn him white"

topkek, wish I knew this person. Where'd you find the book user?

>1912
Books ain't worth jack shit unless they're from the 1860's or farther back and original

It's only 2016. How could this be written in 2021? Fake and gay!

The mane is all country names. Pretty rad acctually.

>canada
>india
>australia

It doesn't seem to be by anyone famous or to have any notable autographs. I wouldn't go expecting to make a million here as books are the least valuable of antiques and the condition appears poor.

Still, it's an interesting look back at a bygone time. People really did talk/write different back then

Yorhshire Joashe
Here's us, all on us
May we want now, none on us,
Nor me naughter.

Here's to my wife's husband,
Nor forgettin' myself.

Yorhshireman's advice to his son.

Hear all, see all, say now,
Had all, drink all, ? how
If ever Tru does and for now,
Do it for Thysen.

Guess it was a letter.

africa is under australia, i cant read the last one though

Where was the book?

It's
"African
Colonies"

And New Sealand is in there too.

The way of a lion is his mane.

Wow guys, found another sheet tucked in the book. Really profound!

Back shed is filled with a bunch of old boxes, had to go out there to get food for animals found a box full of old books on the ground.
Grabbed this one looked the oldest

Most of them are in terrible condition worth nothing

Good point user, maybe they sent it back in time

There are a few more drawings on the pages ahead

Still more pages Anons will post more pics

Coloms?

I will literally pay you .2 BTC for that book.

Think of me when you are lonely,
Think of me when you are not,
And in the depths of your affection
Plant one sweet forget-me-not.

Two in a hammach attempted

In less than jiffy,
They landed in this.
J. Hannison, 1916

I'm in New Zealand, I don't know anything about how it got here

hahaha these poems are fucking cool

And I say that book is fucking awesome. It is a disservice not to keep it in circulation and added to like the original author intended.

the book wouldnt survive if people added to it now

maybe like catalog the existing material somehow and put it in a new book to write in

What is the easiest way to get bitcoin?

Holy shit alright then, I don't necessarily own it, but I'm sure I can arrange something how could I contact you privately?

Perhaps yes, it wouldn't last too long if new entries were added. But it should be circulated and added to somehow.

I sell my computing power to nicehash dot com for mine. Though the easiest way is to just buy it in person from a vendor, or online from a trading site.

It's the commonwealth - I think its a Rudyard Kipling quote

I am sorry mate. I'm coming to realize that I shouldn't do this. However if you can get a good copy of it online, I'll still pay you... say .05 BTC... as patronage to the continued survival of the arts. Sorry, I've been drinking a lot today. If you want to contact me, just shoot me email at gineill @ eckerd (dot) edu

uninterested

Lying cuck. Go from 0.2btc to changing your mind to 0.5 fucking die from the drink you cancer

Mabel Draffin, yes or no based on penmanship only

Well guess that gets me out of this commitment pretty well. Now keep posting that book faggot, and then it'll still be online, and I won't have to pay. BTW .2 BTC = $216 NZD, and .05 BTC = $54 NZD.

Im not op dickhead, plus whats an online copy compared to original. Fuck off with your petty bitwallet

Cool book. It was a fancey lady thing to practice handwriting and poems in school and stuff back then.

My grandmother was stopped from joining in becuse she wasn't fancey enough.

>Inb4 posts stop becuse he trys to haggle over bit coins.

Just angry that I have more money in BTC than you have to your name NEET?

This could be the original copy, what do I have here? Is it worth anything you guys think?

Alright then, thanks for the comment contributed to the discussion well

I'm happy for any amount of money

I'm skipping a majority of the pages and not posting everything

Good thread while it lasted op. Thanks for sharing

How the fuck can you not read that? Are American schools really that bad?

Thanks for the correction. Don't know why I didn't have that in mind the first time..

You're in New Zealand op? The book came from Yorkshire, probably. Describe your land.

Was the book from a girls school? Are all the authors female names? Or family names? Anything in common?

Yeah, the address on one of the letters directed me to a street in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

Yes. Most don't learn how to read or write cursive as children, and absolutely despise cursive writing.

Well that would surprise me, would make for a good read too

This is the back cover, I could go through and send the other pages I skipped
I don't know

>American
I didn't have that specific page in mind, I was talking about the other pages

No worries chief. Nice to see people interested in old stuff. Have a load of scans from a relative that fought in the Boer war, it's a bit of a trial trying to work out what they were trying to communicate.

Doubtless people sifting the archives of the chans in fifty years or so will feel the same way. Sic transit and all that guff.

So... any contestants??
