I forgot what the answer is, can someone remind me?

I forgot what the answer is, can someone remind me?

Nain

1

Sorry I dont speak retard, I need a clear numerical answer

Goddamn order of operations. The answer is 9.

2

6 / 2 * (1 + 2)
6 / 2 * (3)
3 * (3)
9

you can't add parenthesis to make everything be under the division sign

Okay so which one is it?

9 you fucking dumb ass

Answer is 1. PEMDAS so parantheses first, then mutiply, then divide 6 by 6

/thread

this

i kek in every one of these threads

6 / 2 * (1 + 2)
3 * (1 + 2)
3*1 + 3*2
3+6=9

* ?

1st step is to get rid of the parenthesis COMPLETELY. Not that hard faggots.
So that makes:

6:2(1+2)
6:2(3)
6:6
1

Someone here needs to give me a straight answer, theres like 10 conflicting arguments. Cmon what is it Sup Forums? Whats the answer that will give me an A?
>inb4 kill yourself

Lmao it's gold

It's an exponent sign you illiterate fuck

Ask that guy over there instead

"If it “feels” natural to you that implied multiplication takes precedence over division (whether because it’s next to a parentheses or not), then you would get 6 ÷ 2(1+2) = 6 ÷ (2(3)) = 6 ÷ 6 = 1. That answer would be incorrect on most U.S. standardized tests"
Here you go. You want the correct answer not the edgy "muh pemdas" autistic version.

I hear that PEMDAS has been outdated for quite some time, is this true?

Only operations INSIDE the parentheses get priority, retard. addition/subtraction and multiplication/division are each done left-to-right.

Let me clear this shit up, every single one of these threads derails into retards telling each other that they are wrong, bad, etc.

Let's use PEMDAS
P= Parentheses
E= Exponents
MD = Multiplication/Division (They are in the same category, but we go left to right)
AS = Addition/Subtraction (Same rule applies as above)

Using this we solve parentheses first.
6/2(1+2)
so
6/2(3)
Since multiplication and division are in the same category and we go LEFT TO RIGHT it's
3(3)
and easily solve
= 9

The answer is simply 9, this is basic math, Sup Forumsros, don't fuck it up.

are you a fuckin freshmen in high school or some shit

No, people just misunderstand it.

It can not get outdated as there are no new operators.
It just seems like many people do not fully understand the meaning of pemdas.
I got my education in a post-soviet country. We didn't have pemdas or any other acronym. We were taught to use common sense to figure out order of operations. And to be fair, I think it works better than memorising an acronym without understanding it.

at least someone here knows the answer

oh no

it's stupid
