his john wayne was impeccable

Indeed!

Best Mortal Kombat movie ever made.

holy shit I watched it like a two month ago for the first time

Favorite movie of all time.

heres something ill never understand.
why the fuck dont people see this as a comedy/send up of the genre? its the same thing when younger people talk about twin peaks.
>so lame
>cheesy
>other plebby comments
really grinds my gears, if you catch my drift

let's discuss these

I've a friend who doesn't understand why this is my all-time favourite film, he doesn't even like the movie (I obviously understand that it doesn't have to be everybody's favourite)

So I ask him why he doesn't like and he always says
>it's too cheesy
He also can't enjoy most 80s movies due to the fact that they are 80s movies. I really want to hit him sometimes.

ive come across the same shit with michael mann's 80s movies. fucking masterpieces i tells ya!

...

the studio didn't get the joke of it all (especially Jack's character) either. thats why the opening scene with Egg Shen saying about how Jack was such a big hero. studio made them put it there because they thought Jack wasn't heroic enough. It was originally just meant to open on the Pork Chop Express. As told by John Carpenter and Kurt Russell on the commentary.

i really, really love his movies. every time i see him discussed in docs or even on Sup Forums, irl whatever this quote rings in my head. ;_;

lets hope his new halloween doesnt get thrown in development hell like barker's new hellraiser

Kino Carpenter is real

how can one man be so completely overlooked?

its not that good

its not that bad

digits of denial

really good commentary, same with the thing, russel and carpenter find a really good balance between interesting production details, story "analysis" and amusing on-set anecdotes.

James Hong's greatest performance, and one which should have garnered at least a Best Supporting Actor nomination, if the Academy Awards weren't such a flaming circus of faggotry for the last eight decades

And yes, watch the movie with Carpenter's and Russell's commentary if you haven't already

Post times that you acted ol' Jack.

I refer to my car as the Porkchop Express

I remember losing my shit the first time I saw this, it's so beautifully unexpected and fits his character perfectly.

My second favorite Carpenter. This movie is an absolute comedic masterpiece.

Kurt Russel in John Carpenter films is my male role model.

>miss the intro scene the first time watching
>go through the first 20+ minutes thinking it was just a lighthearted action film
>mfw the lightning wizard appears

Is the commentary available online?

Weak.

I didn't like it either

Kurt Russell just doesn't have comedic talent

plot was silly yet tried to be serious

>dat prime Kim Cattrall

This is such a stupid post.

The scene with the 3 storms in the alley and then Lo Pan and the truck is some of the greatest shit ever, in any movie. I could watch it every day and never get tired of it.

Send-up or not, I just don't find the movie funny, exciting or the least bit interesting in any way. I'm not sure why, but I actually find it irritating to watch and quite difficult to sit through.

This is coming from someone who loves cheesy, over-the-top genre films. Big Trouble is just a notable exception that I can't stand in the least.

Russell was hot as fuck in his prime.

YES

awesome in every regard. fuck i love this movie
