Thought it was 1 honestly but forgot divisions get their own invisible parenthesizes

Multiplication and Division, as well as Addition and Subtraction are interchangeable with each other. You always go from right to left.

all you people trying to troll and say it isn't one are trying too hard

the answer is you dont fucking use this -:- shit

Agreed.

Multiplication before division? Why?

It's pretty much the most basic math out there, how would you not know this?

1 can also be right because another way to do that some is Multiplication through Juxtaposition

which would make the 2 part of the Bracket Multiplication making it 6/(2(3) = 6/6 = 1

Ofcourse we mainly just do it as 6/2 x (1+2) = 9

TM:DC Answer can technically be both 1 and 9 depending

are we pretending again?

the problem written like that has no answer. There is no mathmatical symbol between 2 and the bracket, therefor it is not possible to solve.

trolling with pasta doesn`t make things better guys, Sup Forums is already shitty enough

Nevermind I'm retarded
it's ez
distribute 2(1+2) = 2*1+2*2=6
6/6=1

This is why division should be written as a fraction.
The problem is either
6
- * (1+2)
2

or

6
--------
2(1+2)

and we can't tell

...

MDas

>There is no mathmatical symbol between 2 and the bracket
you don't deserve those quads
the parentheses mean you multiply everything inside by 2

Division is first. Simples. 9

1+2 is 3

so you do 2 times 3 which is 6

then its 6 divided by siz which is one

easy

Because bracket priority.

Distribution is first
P = parentheses

>what is the distributive property?

6÷2(1+2)
6÷(2+4)
6÷(6)
1

Anything else is either trolling, or just retarded.

nice quads boi

BEDMAS
it's 9 you retards

What's IN the brackets, not just outside them

All that means is you get 3, you still divide 6 by 2 then multiply by the bracketed 3. BIDMAS bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3/maths/number/order_operation/revision/2/

Was was I doing again?

It should be written as
6/(2(1+2))
Either way if you use PEMDAS, and actually use it, you'd see that you distribute first

...

this

The world education system is so bad because people blindly memorize rules like PEMDAS without understanding why. Those who remember the rules don't know why they exist or their history, so they use the ambiguous division symbol in hopes of trying to trick others can't remember. Unfortunately, this just makes a mockery of everyone involved and math itself. The truth is that the order in which operations are executed not only matters, but has changed over time. Until computers came along, we'd almost gotten rid of that pesky symbol. Turns out it's hard to enter more than one line in a calculator though.

not this

Brackets have priority, but even if it didn't division is the same as multiplication by the reciprocal.

(x+2)(x-4)

Yeah try that impossible mind boggle niggaaaaaaaaaaa

(1+2) --> the first part
6/2 --> the second part
3*3 --> the last part

Are you fucking fags really that dumb to understand?

> using an inline division sign in a statement with multiple operations
> expecting clarity

no, not this this

When a value is outside of parenthesis, it is implied that the value and the parenthetical portion of the equation are in their own block together. Ergo, you do what's in the inner parenthesis, the number just outside as though there are outer parenthesis, and then the rest of the equation.

tl;dr you're a faggot who made me reply.

>the real answer to the image is "I saw people on facebook[...]" as opposed to "seen".

That's not the first part though you imbecile
It's 2(1+2), followed by distribution.
so you get 2*1+2*2=6
6/6=1

First distribute:2(1+2) = (2+4)
Then remove parenthesis: 6/2+4
From here it's a simple continuation of PEMDAS
3+4=7

I see I'm the only one who got it right in this thread. You all should be ashamed - but it's not like everyone graduated highschool I guess.

There is no solution. Unless you give X a number, also there is also no way to solve for X either.

Yeah, the stuff in the brackets, not interacting with them

saw this on fagbook two nights ago, kys yourself

x2+6x-8 dumbass it's simplifying a quadratic

Why are you adding things to the parentheses step?

fucking retard

You combine like terms before distributing, you mathematically illiterate asshole.

If there's a number adjacent to the parentheses, then you multiply everything inside the parentheses by that number

Get distributive with me, son.

It was already simplified you dumb fuck.

No it was factored you autist

the answer is the quadratic, the question was the simplification.

It is 1, you nutwit.

No you did it right. This is a troll thread. Move on.

oh god, why are americans so fucking retarded

Thats what I said......... shut up. I'm smart!

you dont distrubute unless there are variables you retards

> 2(1x + 2y)
distribute
>2(1+2)
=6

I thought it was 1?
1+2=3
2*3=6
6/6=1

Always go from left to right Idiot

exactly

Pls kys. Things in the parentheses have a priority. No matter what is going on outside. Then you are just making the job from left to the right like normal ppl do

it is

multiply to = -8
add to equal 6
Obviously -7.1231056256177 and 1.1231056256177

So yeah, let's apply this math...
6/2(1+2)
Adds to equal 2
Multiples to equal 6
That makes the answers...
9 and 1

I guess both are right?

>you dont distrubute unless there are variables you retards
I hope you are kidding
>No matter what is going on outside
please go back to school

>Enters the math problem into calculator
>Get 1
I think it is more than our education system that needs fixing.

No, you don't. Stay in school.

Everyone can agree that it's equivalent to 6÷2·3
But that's a shit way to write it, 3(6÷2) or 6÷(2·3) would be clear

If you're going to write a problem with multiple parts that includes division then use more parens to make it totally clear

Fuck it whilst I'm here you faggots can do my Titration Calculations.

algebrahelp.com/lessons/simplifying/distribution/

the answer is 42

That's in Algebra not simple maths.

Fuck off

>TFW I think I'm stupid until I come here and see you retards struggle with BODMAS

PEMDAS
paranthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction

Someone told me this is not the proper order under all circumstances, will a mathfag explain why this is the case? Or is PEMDAS explicitly correct?

so 2(2+1) doesn't equal 6?

You guys are dumb. Like seriously

mathematics are not a sequence of events, they are a representation of a quantity. 1+2 is 3, it is the same thing. There are two sets of that, which is then the denominator of the 6.

>TFW I failed maths exam and still knew this was fucking 9

That's not the question though
enter it as
6/(2(2+1))

this
