Since /metal/ is reaching its terminal stage how about we fuse with /bleep/ to create the most unique sound of the century
I always thought doom metal + ambient techno could make a great atmospheric album

Vektor - Terminal Redux

I know PsyOpus, user.

They're mathcore, but one of the more based mathcore bands. Almost sounds like tech death.

>Genre: melodic death metal

well, I woulnd't surprise me since he shitpost on the NWN! forum.
Anyway, I would like to tell him he hasn't made a decent album since Carelian Satanist Madness

Atheist has cool solos.

Noticed!!!!!!!!!

>Noticed!!!!!!!!!

I thought Nachzeher was good, and fimbulwinter was alright. I really dug when he tried to be japanese with the trve werewolf

The third category is newer metalcore, often called melodeath (the original more melodic bands that actually played death metal were rarely called melodeath. This genre owes a lot to metal, is usually melodic, and tends to have surface elements of death metal. For this reason, many call it melodic death metal. However, underneath the timbre of the instruments, and some of the common smaller scale patterns, a different spirit is revealed. The songs do not progress narratively. The way that past riffs affect the upcoming riffs is related to death metal but only in the vaguely verse chorus verse fashion of simpler speed metal. The romantic themes described, and emotional tones expressed, are different. The following piece by a later, falling apart At The Gates has some some of these elements, providing a sample of what was to come:

What the fuck is this about DMU memeing with calling everything speed metal. They don't even know what speed metal is.

Don't you ever post in my direction again.

That DMU site must the shittiest metal webzine I've ever saw, you can get better opinion and expertise even on metal-archives.

And I don't even like melodeath.

>Originally a thundering simple harmonic death metal act along the lines of Demigod, Amorphis came out of Finland and mutated into a more commercial animal. Now their main contribution is bringing the styles of death metal and Guns and Roses together on an album.

>Not liking soulside journey, blaze OR circle the wagons

Darkthone is objectively garbage

i dont, thats why i posted them as my choice.

>Not saying anything about speed metal
Fake article.

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Cynic - Focus
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day

>Cynic - Focus

This.

It's just the weird ass robotic effect they put on the vocals. I don't mind some jazz fusion, but what the fuck?

Enslaved - In Times
I love enslaved, I have everything from monumension up to sleeping gods or riitiir, but this album is where they just went the same way opeth did when the did heretige
Mastodon - Something Something sun
Crakk the sky was their last great album, the hunter was alright, but then they turned into promotional infomercial/"get a free can of pepsi from this hummer outside of a mobil station and take a picture with the rex headbanging to mastodon!"

>what the fuck

Paul Masvidal not being a particularly good vocalist is what the fuck.

What is the greatest crossover genre and why is it Power/Thrash?

>the hunter was alright

It's almost entirely driven by the hyperactive drumming and shitty synth which completely kill any chance it had at creating an atmosphere in line with Nightside. The riffs aren't good anyways, so no real loss.

Is Painkiller Power/Thrash? If so, that is why it's the best genre

Impetuous Ritual.

Wintersun is good

> rustin Sup Forums's jimmys

I also thought the newest mayhem was better than DMS

I think empyrium should be recognized as important as importal and emperor

Dissections albums are great, but only 9.8 out of 10s

La Sanie des siècles – Panégyrique de la dégénérescence is honestly my least favorite kpn along with fuckfolk folie, even if they're still 9/10s to me

Majesty and Decay was the best immolation

Magrudergrind is better than napalm death

Dronevil was better than flood

Vol.4 was better than Masters of Reality

(not true, by the way)

>person says they're excited to see Amorphis live
>the rest of that thread and the next one devolves into Amorphis shitposting and DMU shilling
What the fuck is wrong with this general?

none of these bother me. step up your rustling game.

>Power/Thrash
You mean speed?

I thought I grew out of folk metal a long time ago, but I've recently come back to Moonsorrow, and shit on me all you want but I think they might have to be one of my favorite bands. I've been listening to their discog and despite their long songs, I am never bored and constantly find certain parts in these songs where I must repeat because its so fucking good, and they don't spoil you with these hooks either hence why I repeat some parts. Granted, I prefer their later black metal style albums. V:Havitetty is my favorite of theirs.

Please tell me I'm not the only one here who feels this way.

>I think empyrium should be recognized as important as importal and emperor
How are Empyrium even close to as influential as either of those bands? Nothing Empyrium did was anything new.

no, how the fuck did you conclude that? is speed a crossover genre now?

Wow, I just happened on this one myself. Just what I was looking for.

Power/Thrash is literally the same sound as speed and you can't prove me wrong

>Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Triggered

Either you are extremely retarded or you are baiting. If it's the former, I feel sorry for you. If it's the latter, I'm not going down this hole.

No, Moonsorrow is GOAT

Уpoчищa cнoв was better than Folkstorm, the Azure Nights

I mean they were basically Burzum if Burzum was interesting? Not to mention they had a pretty good role merging black metal with neo-folk, not that they were the only band that did it, but I'm pretty sure most people can say Weiland was a pretty good gateway drug, along with whom the moon a night song sings, to neo-folk from black metal, I know it was mine, and it was for a lot of people I know

If that triggers you, it's a good thing you don't know how much more I enjoyed Fall of Hearts.

>implying I listen to meme genres like folk metal
keep trying

What the fuck is a meme genre?

your favorite genre

Buzzword

Glam, slam, folk, black, prog, death, thrash, doom, the list goes on...

Also and justice for all was better than ride the lightening

Probably my favorite Dickinson era song.

Speed metal isn't a real genre, at most it's one or two kind of songs that bands ranging from trad to power to thrash to death to black metal and played on occasion.

Power/thrash takes elements from both power and thrash metal without necessarily any presence of speed metal.
