because on Sup Forums 2+2=5
Because boy does it get old fast.
Not something I listen to on a daily basis, but quality math-rock and caffeine have been my go-to choice for waking up and starting shifts at work. OP photo is a great choice. Been rotating between it, American Don, and Don Caballero 2.
this desu
Does it? Try sprinkling it in with your musical diet instead of occasionally binging on it.
Where can I find more like the drumming on this? Typical math rock is much too fast.
I generally find it to be lacking in feeling and emotion.
I dislike "technical" genres of metal for the same reason

What's crazy is these dudes were in high school when they wrote most if not all of their first album.
What did you guys think of this album?
i love monobody, i wish their split with those pyramid dudes wasn't so god damn expensive on bandcamp. like 6 bucks for their debut and 10 for the split? no way
coolio
do you know if those pyramid dudes got some solo stuff? i couldnt find anything when i searched
not that I know of, this is the first i've heard of them
Because the only good Math Rock band I'm recent memory was Foals, and they broke out of that niche almost instantly.

Fun starts at around 1:45
For some reason I can't get into this album as much as DC2
...
Have you tried the so-called "twinkly" emo bands that use a lot of math rock ideas?
...
have you tried self-inserting in the musicians' spot ie hand drumming, air guitar?
that's how you get technical rock and jazz most easily
One of my favorite math rock albums.
They're supposed to be dropping a full-length some time this summer apparently.
Math rock peaked in 2000 with American Don and Under Thunder and Fluorescent Lights.
>music for musicians
gross
This is my favourite album from the genre
that's a little close-minded don't you think?
fuck i totally forgot about this album
XD
Giraffes? Giraffes! - More Skin With Milk Mouth.

Maps & Atlases - Trees, Swallows, Houses.

Not listened to math rock in years but those 2 I posted are pretty awesome.
Trying to get back into my math-rock/post-rock after years of going mad on jungle.
>you have to play along on air guitar in order to get it!
i'm plenty open minded but i would really rather not
>have to
it helps. and it's fun!
You Slut! was the logical conclusion to the genre.
This is very good, thanks for posting it user
this is equivalent to "you have to be watching a sunset on drugs to it!" and i don't enjoy program music. at all.
This album is underrated on Sup Forums
I love these too
a day called zero - s/t

bitch magnet - ben hur, particularly this song
...
This album sticks with me way more than their newer dream pop/indie stuff, i wish they would have gone for this sound more
don caballero is god-tier.
best tracks are details on how to get iceman and slice where you live like pie.
Zach Hill plays in that band
>this is equivalent to "you have to be watching a sunset on drugs to it!"
what's wrong with it though
some types of things are best enjoyed in certain situations or mindsets, you thickheaded cunt
forever
10/10
I feel like this only applies to the kind of "math rock" which is often erroneously tagged as such for being instrumental music. That kind tends to be wanky, boring prog like you said.
Proper math rock can be energetic, raw or mellow if it wants to be.
only the first track is good-core
wrong. you're listening to shitty math rock. brutal prog doesn't get old quickly.
pretty good taste there fampai
My personal favourite
bad opinion
I like this album a lot, but the band members are so lame. They make good music, but I would never want to make an album with these guys.
Good shit, are you ready for the new album?
Some of the worse stuff can be. But man, stuff like Piglet makes me want to get up and dance.
Because 14yr old hipsters have an attention span of a week long and get their tastes from hipster websites which tell them what to listen to.
Those sites -which are really placing products- change their best albums of the year/decade etc every week. You do the math
thats not math rock
thats proto djent
Love it, For Long Tomorrow is my fav from those guys
xD
omg proto djent LOOOOL
so funneh and randum ^^
what sites are you talking about mane? Pitchfork or some shit?
what do you mean, how are they lame?
Yes, P4K and all the hipster garbage aggregators
this is an essential
I agree with all of these
yeah my fav too
always loved the non-abrasive side of math rock, more leaning into post.
even tho i love hella's "hold your horse is"
>shellac
>math rock
Nigga wut
the GOAT
why don't many people like brutal prog? it's generally fantastic imo
name?
enjoying this album a lot. Thanks
...
rec me more like this? one of my favorite albums of all time and never found anything else in the genre that compares
Elephant Gym is the closest you're going to find. Toe are in a league of their own in how chill they are.
Never see this posted
You get a gold star
ngl japanese math rock has my heart.
THE by tricot has been on repeat for like a week for me.
I think when math rock tries to be math rock it feels cold as fuck but when it has less of an effort to be in backwards 7/4 and 5/4 for the whole song it sounds way better.
This
I liek, but too happy.
it's pretty niche/specific
listening on bandcamp now. Does anyone have the album in 320?
